Recently I had a problem with an item that came to be defective in every way possible. When I tried to return the item to the Deer Park Branch, the sale clerk refused to refund, return, or exchange the item that was in question. When I asked to speak to the manager, he also refused the same because the item was used and stated that he cannot verify that the item was faulty. I tried to explain to him that I usually buy the item from McMaster-Carr, but went with Grainger because I was saving quite a bit more. Clearly the item was cheaper than McMaster because it is of inferior quality, but the manager simply said that I should of continued using McMaster's product if there was not any problem with it and that I will not get this item refunded or exchanged. It has only been 10 days since I bought the item from the store and I also had the receipt, most stores would have gladly done something more positive about the situation and would have at least exchanged the item. Deer Park Grainger is "special" I guess. Anyways, the manager's name is Jonathon, and the sales clerk is Jim. What fine examples of customer service at this branch, I'm being sarcastic of course. I had to call corporate and the Customer Service representative by the name of Debbie was very kind and appropriately rectified the situation by simply refunding the total amount. I will continue shopping at Grainger, I'll just have to buy their stuff from another Branch or simply order their stuff online. Its a shame that there are people out there that give such a bad reputation to such a great company as Grainger, I'm talking about Jim, and Jonathon of course. How they were hired is beyond me. Thank You Debbie, for helping me out.

Some of the yard workers are not very professional. I am a contractor who is pretty picky about…read moreproduct quality because I want my customers to have high quality materials when I'm building something for them. I had a problem with poor quality fence pickets in October of 2024 and was told by the yard lead that the manager said, "What does he expect for a buck?". First of all, pickets are $2.00 each, not $1.00 each, and I expect the same quality I was previously getting from them. I realize that McCoy's doesn't mill the lumber but, they are still selling it and that makes them partly responsible for the quality as well since they choose the suppliers. I decided to give them another chance in May of 2025, since the store manager denied saying what I was told he said and he apologized several times for my negative experience and asked what he do to earn my business again. This time, when driving my truck through the yard to go around to the pickets, my son was with the yard lead, waiting for me to get around there. The yard lead told the other guys over the radio that he was loading my order and my son heard one of the guys respond with something like, "You can have it/that one.". The yard lead told my son that the other guy said that because they know how picky I am. Why shouldn't I be "picky" when I put my reputation for quality and my name behind what I build for my customers?! In October, the pickets had bad saw marks on them and they were all different lengths. One worker told me that another customer brought a bunch of pickets back because they were only 5 1/2 feet long when they are supposed to be 6 feet. The ones I got ranged from 72 inches to 72 3/4 inches, which caused the top of the fence to be up and down instead of straight across. That looks very bad. This time, the sides of the pockets were cut with curvy sides instead of being cut in a straight line. This is the fault of the mill and supplier but, McCoy's is still partly responsible because they are selling them. I know that some pickets will be bad so, I bought 150 to do a small job that only needed 77 and I barely found enough to be able to finish the job. Most of them had curvy sides and still had to be used to get the job done. I have no intention of giving this McCoy's my business anymore.

I visited this location to invest in 200 feet of extension cord. One might ask, "Why would I need…read morethat much?" Well, let me tell you, I go camping a lot. So sometimes, I need extension cords to hook up my Jackery, or if I am at an electric site and need to plug in a heater to do winter camping in my tent, it came in handy. I found an employee who directed me to aisle 11 or 12. I went to aisle 11, but it wasn't there. Once I walked to aisle 12, I saw various extension cords in different colors, from 50 ft to 75 ft. What's nice is that they had a special on 100 ft of extension cords. The original price for this brand was $64, but the sale price was $26 on the package. So, I picked up two of them. While standing in line, Belinda, the self-checkout cashier; politely insisted on helping me. I went ahead and took her up on her offer. Belinda surprised me! She asked if I had the MyLowes app and I told her that I didn't. I admitted that I used to work for Lowe's in Clear Lake and had an inactive membership card. Ms. Belinda asked me to download the app and even showed me how to set it up. Once I got the app up, she explained the benefits of using it including the rewards. Last week, I was at another Lowe's and couldn't find the boiled linseed oil, I immediately pulled up the app and found what aisle it was on. So it comes in handy. When Belinda rang up the extension cords they were $14 a piece, so I got a steal! I told Belinda that I was interested in seeing Bonnie who works in the Outside Lawn and Garden (OLSG). She paged her for me. I went and surprised her in the garden. We hugged and she greatly remembered my face. The garden center was flourishing and the plants looked beautiful despite the winter front coming in again. The tye plant and hibiscus were vibrant! I wanted to buy some; too bad they are full sun and I don't have access to that kind of sun. Bonnie is doing a splendid job with taking care of the plants. She prepared them for safety out of the frigid temperatures. I like this location.
