He provided detailed information on everything he planted. A couple of plants ended up not seeming happy in their new spots and he was eager to switch them out so we could have plants that would be thrive in our microclimate. The initial garden was set up in part for privacy and that has been so valued as we now have natural privacy from neighbors on one side, but it looks very beautiful and all the neighbors admire our gardens. He designed a beautiful pallet of native plants, with room for vegetables. He also troubleshot the full irrigation system on our property, fixed leaks, drew a detailed map, and figured out all of the irrigation programs (which were previously a mystery). Stephen was very flexible, reliable and easy to work with. He was very flexible when I asked to swap out a couple of the plants in the original design. He is a very experienced and knowledgable gardener with great attention to detail.

We got three estimates and Roberto's estimate was the most reasonable and he was able to do the job in the short timeframe I needed. The team showed up as promised and did a great job! The wall was built in one day and would have been finished in one day if the weather was better. In South San Francisco the weather was very damp and cold due to heavy fog so the concrete did not dry as fast as it could have. They returned the next day to finish off the job. We are very happy with the results. Even better it was finished in time for our painting crew to include the new wall in the ongoing project to paint the exterior of our house. After interviewing three designers, we chose Ian and I'm happy to report that our plans were approved within 48 hours of sending them to the board. One neighbor, who used to serve on that committee, said "these are the most detailed plans I've ever seen". Ian's attention to detail had to have been a major factor in their decision-making process. What we liked about Ian was: he was able to easily and quickly share examples of other designs he had created; he told us that his fee would include revisions, he wouldn't nickel-and-dime us; and he has established relationships with many/all contractors that we'll need to complete the work. I'll update this review as we go through the process...we're only at the approval stage now. We need to have a good portion of the backyard demo'd before the work can begin. But so far, so good. I had asked that we need to replace the barrier underneath. The got it done in about 2 days. The 2nd project we had grass installed in our backyard and get the sprinklers working again (previous owners never got it fixed, so I'm glad that it wasn't any major work). They did it all in one day. They did a fantastic job - so fast, but most importantly, great quality and such good value.
