An overall fantastic park. This is one of those facilities that has something for everyone. There are tennis courts, a playground, dog park, hiking trails, and soccer field. There is probably more that I didn't notice. Our visit was for specifically for the hiking. Wonderful hiking spot. We were looking for something that went up a mountain. This fit the bill. The routes are simple enough to follow that there is no risk of getting lost. Trails are well defined. Trails are wide enough to pass other hikers without stepping off the trail. We enjoyed the desert views both up and down the mountain. Most impressive, there wasn't a single piece of trash on the trail. Ample parking is available in two lots. Restrooms are also available. Not much shade at the park.

Better than Thunderbird. I don't know why that place is so busy and this place isn't. Deem Hills has a playground, dog park, soccer fields, and bathrooms, along with what I use it for, hiking. There are so many trails to choose from, and two different access parking lots (west side and east side). I love this place for the reasons listed above and that it isn't super busy like Thunderbird or North Mountain get. It's a great place for sunsets and to spend time with your family. I just wish it were closer.

Great spot to go hiking in the North West Valley! Plenty of parking here too! This sport has several different trails and the views are some of the best you'll see in the area. It doesn't get to packed for of people here as it's a hidden gem that a lot of people still don't know about. There are a couple circumstances that are miles on miles long. I love this hiking spot!

Solid hike that started towards the left. It was late afternoon and sun was setting. The path is tight at points for a run, so watch out for the cactus grabbing at you. On the backside, you can see the water canal and east view that is really nice. No one was really on the trail, so it was a good run. The summit goes up and it was great to see the sun set coming around the last part of the trail.

This is our go-to park, something for everyone. HIKING: The hiking trails up and around the hill are nice, well kept - easy, mild, and difficult options starting from the parking lot. Lots of traffic on weekends, great view from the top, the trails connect to the paths throughout the Stetson Hills neighborhood. DOG PARK: don't have a dog, but they are spacious and nice and people use them a lot and my toddler loves pointing at the dogs. PLAYGROUND: The play structures are in a sand pit, cleaned and raked often, one set of swings/covered slides for older kids, one for toddlers. Benches and a few covered tables line the pit, and a nice restroom with water fountains. EXERCISE: Along with the soccer fields and basketball courts, the concrete walking path along the fields is a little loop with distance markers. Only downside is that the park gets very busy on weekends, parking gets filled, and cars park all along the entrance road. If you get a spot though, it's mostly the soccer fields that are packed - plenty of room on the trails and playground.

Enjoying his favorite time of the day. When he gets to come to the park and play with his friends and chew on a frisbee!

After two months of being closed I have to say that this park is even better. My dog Sully loves this place! They shut it down to do some much needed lawn maintenance because it was basically all dirt. They have done a great job! The large play area now has plenty of grass for your did to run around in and have a good time. The people that come hear are super friendly and the dogs are even better. Everyone does a great job watching their dog and make sure everyone keeps the peace. Plus everyone picks up their dogs poops which can make or break a dog park. Let's be honest no one wants to go to a dog park and have to watch every step they take to make sure they don't step in a pile of dog poo. Glad to be back and have a great place for Sully to run and play with other dogs.

Great dog park! Love that the weather is cooling down and I can enjoy some nice evening playtime with the pups. Been going between 5-6pm right before the sun goes down and there has been roughly 15 or so pups! Love that there is so many sweet playful pups that my labs can run around with. The park is surrounded by street lights so even if the sun goes down your pups will have plenty of light to run around and for you to see them without worry. There is 2 large gated in dog parks and both are full around this time. There is the large dog area on the left and small dogs on the right. The set up is awesome because there is a small gated area when you first walk in so you can take your dog leash off and not worry about your dog getting out or another dog already in the park slipping out. Huge grassy area for dogs to run. Grass is completely dead but what do you expect from a dog park...haha! They also have a working water fountain and usually about 3 dog bowls full of water. I always bring my own bowl but the water fountain makes it easy to fill up. The hiking trail starts behind the dog park so I have seen a few people let their dogs run around free in dog park for like 10min and then take them up for a hike. Be a great way to get some energy out. I will definitely try this out when it gets a tad more cooler for a hike. Overall this is a great dog park and I have met some very nice people and so many sweet dogs. The pups always have a great time and I never have a problem.

Fantastic Phoenix mountain area full of beautiful trails and a nice dog park. Ample parking and nice restrooms. Trails with a variety of difficulties but it is the desert so there is no shade and plan accordingly.

This park is beautiful! I take my German Shepherd here all the time. There is a fantastic dog park (for both large and small dogs) and several hiking trails! The landscape is beautiful, especially if you're hiking in the spring with all the desert wild flowers! If you decide to visit the park, I recommend downloading the Avem app, it will show you all the park amenities and how to find them. Happy hiking!

Thought about doing the 3 mile one but ended up doing the 6 mile by accident, and thought, "oh well, we've gone too far (actually just a half mile) to turn around..." And just stuck with it out of stubbornness. With the rain from last weekend, everything was in bloom and it was absolutely beautiful. The 5.9 mile trail around the circumference is full of rolling hills. Most grounding was nice on the north side of the loop but the south side of the loop was a little run down from the crazy rain. There are areas with steady inclines but relief is soon found with long stretches of flat elevation perfect for trail runners looking to do interval training. The trail is clearly marked until you get to the back (north) side, where you end up all the way at the bottom of the "mountain"/rolling hills and you question if you're going the right direction because you eventually end up in another parking lot at the end of a neighborhood to continue to the rest of the trail. This part of the trail is absolutely flat and runs in the east to west direction (or vise versa depending how you started) and it feels isolated. You can see a lot of bike trekking on this part but kind of boring compared to the beautiful scenery on the south and east sides. Continue running (or walking) and you end up near the canal and turn left onto what's basically another much larger dirt road and have one tall hill before you see the 5.9 mile trail market on the left side and you return to the rolling hills that very gradually increase in elevation until you end up heading south again. Going this direction brings you through prettier terrain with more interesting plants and rocks again and you eventually see the parking lot where you first started again. Parking? Entered off Happy Valley Rd and 55th to a large parking area and cool recreational park and the trail started right there. Too crowded? Well, there is another entrance with a tiny parking area to the 5.9 mile trail through a neighborhood on the northeast part of the loop but haven't figured out how to drive there yet, since this was my first time here. Level? The 5.9 mile circumference trail is moderate on the rolling rocky hills and easy on the flat areas. You can make it more challenging if you add some of the summit climbs in which is what I will try to do next time!

Great park for dogs and kids but don't trust the map here it's further east. Soccer galore and a nice fenced in area for dogs to play.

Ask the Community - Deem Hills Recreation Area

What is the best parking lot to access the soccer fields? My soccer team is traveling down in Feb for a tournament and all games are at Deem Hills. I have 2 addresses 5050 W Andrea Lane and 26777 N Deem Hills Parkway. Thanks!

If you can park on the north side of the parking lot that would be best. The parking lot fills up fast with tournaments so it might be a drop off and find a spot situation.

Can you ride side by sides or atv's on any trails there or is it jsut for hiking and bicycles?

They are just for hiking and bicycles. The trails are pretty narrow and would only fit two people side by side hiking and one bike in front of the other.

I'd give the cleanliness and overall park quality a 10/10. There's something for all ages, and it's easy to spend a whole afternoon there. The train is definitely cute and fun for kids, but it's a bit overpriced at $5 per ticket, even for a one-year-old. Unfortunately, our experience with the train staff really took away from it. The woman taking tickets was extremely rude and didn't speak to us at all -- no hello, no eye contact, no thank you, nothing. It honestly felt like she didn't want to be there or interact with families. I was trying to make it a fun moment for my child by having them hand over the ticket, but they actually got scared and hid behind me. The woman selling the tickets, on the other hand, was very kind and welcoming. The park itself can also get very crowded, and we noticed older kids sometimes take over the younger kids' play areas, which can make it hard for little ones when there's roughhousing or inappropriate language. That's not really the park's fault, but it's something to be aware of if you have small children. Overall, it's definitely worth visiting at least once because it's a beautiful space with tons to do. I personally prefer smaller neighborhood parks for a calmer experience, but Anthem Community Park is great in terms of facilities. The biggest areas for improvement would be crowd management in the play areas and better, more family-friendly staffing for the train.
