I met Deb about a week before my wedding. My other hair stylist had backed out last minute and I didn't have the budget to get anyone else in so late in the game. I made about a hundred calls and was just about to give up the hunt in favor of having my mom or best girlfriend do my hair, when I reached Deb. Deb is very personable both on the phone and in person. She set my mind at ease and was very affordable not only for me but also for my bridal party. When I walked in to Deb's salon for my hair trial, I was happy to see it was very clean and at that time in the process of a make over. Deb told me they added new floors, touched up the paint and also brought in some new seating and shelving. Deb seems to be the main stylist, in fact I do not know if any other stylist work there but she was as pleasant as ever. I walked her through what I thought I wanted to do with my hair and within 30 minutes or so, we had a look we both agreed upon. My trial was only $50! If you are searching for a great value in bridal hair in the Hudson Valley, look no further. Deb is more than capable and very affordable. The day of my wedding, I met Deb at her shop where she washed and prepared my hair for the hot rollers. We then left her Salon and headed to The Chalet on the Hudson, where I was getting married. Deb worked on my bridesmaids and my mother's hair, finished my hair, and then even did my son and my husband. Everyone was extremely happy with their results and I was a stress free bride! Deb is wonderful! So friendly and professional. I have curly hair and have been having a hard time finding someone who understands my Crazy curls! She listened to me and asked a couple of questions and I left very happy! She and her assistant made me feel right at home which was very nice for someone like me who hasn't lived in the area for long. Sometimes the other shops nearby are friendlier to regulars from town but here everyone is treated the same and I loved that! I can't wait to go back! So glad I read the other reviews and tried her because everything I read was exactly right! Deb has been cutting my hair since I was a kid. Best hair cuts that I've ever had. I moved away about 8 years ago, but when I came back to get married, I made an appointment with her. Deb's hair design is by far the best salon I have been to, period. Having lived in NYC and tried at least a dozen over priced salons, no color or hair cut I received in the city compares to Deb's! Deb is talented, knows her craft, and truly loves what she does. She and Marci are super friendly, and a hoot to talk to. It's like catching up with an old friend every time my husband and I go! She also has the best prices I've ever seen for a haircut, not just for NY, but for anywhere. I paid more for a cut and color when I lived in the back woods of TN... For both a cut and single process color for myself, and a cut for my husband, it costs us only $100, including tip, at Deb's. That's hard to beat! Deb's is also dog friendly, and our pooch loves to come with us as Deb usually has some good treat for him to eat. Deb was very helpful with my first appointment when I had pretty much messed up my hair with an at home coloring session. She was able to get it back to a presentable state. I returned about three weeks later to have her lighten up what she had fixed and to do my roots. I have blond highlights on top of a black base color. Anyway, the return visit was a true disaster. Deb was unable to remember what she had used on me previously and decided to use whatever she deemed appropriate. I had a scheduled appointment but wasn't seen at this time, due to a problem she said. After about 25 minutes, she started on me, put foils in, didn't do my roots, stating that she didn't want my roots on as long as the highlights. My foils were in at least a hour or more, at which time she stated that it had not turned out at all like she expected....Meaning, it was red, orange and the blond hairs had literally turned to mush..She literally pulled on an end piece and it came off in her hand. She said she was very sorry...that this had never happened before...Well, I was upset with the results...She only charged me for the blow dry. I left and don't plan on returning. She is ok for normal things, but I don't believe I would trust her with color. read more
