I found this business on groupon while looking for a Christmas gift (early, I know) for my husband of 1 year. I wanted something I knew I couldn't have done for him last year, and he really likes photos (I've never allowed it before). Well, my photo shoot was on Friday, and I got the groupon that included the corset. First things first, we looked over paperwork (Kylie was a great help, so upbeat and relaxing. She approached me like a pro, completely at ease and ready to help regardless), I showed her what I'd brought, then we tried to pick a corset.
Their corsets are AMAZING!! I found two that I really liked, and though the one I liked the most was a little too small for me, the one that really showed off my curves (and will go nicely under a wedding dress) is the one I finally chose (Think, you can eat off your chest, they push them up so well).
Next step was going upstairs and working with the photographer (Alina?) to make some magic. Now normally that's just a phrase, but in my case, that's what it felt like. When we got started and connected, my worry about looking foolish, cellulite, plain face, large belly, and too-long bangs disappeared. I lost all my worries and literally just had fun. I loved being able to follow her directions, and I trusted her to know what looked best. When she wasn't taking photos, we were discussing similar music tastes (she started me with justin timberlake, but it quickly when to Daft punk), and drinking lemon water (I'm not an alcohol-type). I felt mischievous and daring, sexy without being slutty, and very, very empowered.
I think the feelings that come from an experience like this (but you have to approach it positively) are incredible, and the fact that these lovely ladies could transfer such confidence in so short a time is nothing less than miraculous. I felt so sexy and confident when it was over that I wore that corset home (yes, the white, you can touch your chin to your breasts if you're so inclined corset) in a slinky red dress that I had never, ever worn outside the house (with some sensible capris underneath. No need to shock the neighborhood) and wowed my husband with my positive mood (and clothes).
Now when I came back on Sunday to look at my photos, I was very excited. Wary, because I could only budget for one, single photo, but still very excited. I couldn't wait to see what the magic looked like from my partner's side. And I wasn't disappointed at all. Well, there were a few technical difficulties at first (poor Rachel thought she'd broken the computer for a while), but I wasn't bothered by the wait, because you could have a comfortable conversation with any woman that walked through the door (there were several women there for some reason, and we all were glowing and happily exchanging thoughts, though not necessarily on the boudoir experience). When we finally got down to looking at them, I had over a hundred to choose from, and oh, the choices! They were amazing, and it felt like each photo had a subtly different meaning. Choosing one was impossible at first. So we narrowed it down. I got it down to 47, then down to 13, and finally down to 5. Each outfit had a favorite, whether it was my personal favorite, or what I knew my husband would adore. Finally, oh, finally, I was down to two. Possibly the hardest choice I've made in months, it was between the sexy little red dress I mentioned earlier, and a black and white beauty that was so elegant and classic without the least bit of risque. Sad to say, I could honestly only choose one, and I chose the b&w beauty because the artistry of it entranced me. But I still feel like the red one would have totally been worth buying if I could only have afforded it.
I've been ranting and raving over this experience since Friday, and I think it will be one the best sources of energy for me for a long time to come. I'm so glad I did this, and I'm even gladder I chose these lovely ladies to work with. Please try it. This is expensive, but the service and quality more than make up for it.
