Dean's Asphalt Paving installed crush-a-run on my driveway and it looks beautiful. I didn't realize how much went into covering a driveway with crush-a-run - grading the driveway with a bobcat, laying the crush-a-run with the bobcat and a special attachment, tweaking the high and low areas and packing the crush-a-run with a steam roller. A certain paving company whose name I will not mention knocked on my door one evening and offered to seal my driveway with material left over from another job for $400. After some checking, I agreed. Six hours later it rained, and ruined the sealant so it wouldn't properly cure. I believe pavers are well aware of the weather forecast when they give you the hard sell. I should have checked but it didn't occur to me. I am not a paver. In any case, I contacted said company and they agreed to come back and make it right. That was mid March. Dean's Asphalt is a family run business father and sons. Last week my doorbell rang Charles one of the sons offered a pretty good price to seal my long driveway. I said ok and trusted him to do a good job. Well part of the job was to fill in all the cracks with filler. He did a great job applying the seal but he ran out of filler and left many cracks unfilled. I could not immediately inspect the job because it was still wet and I could not walk around to look. I paid in full. Well the following day I can plainly see that there were many cracks unfilled. I gave him a call and asked him to come back and finish the job. Well guess what? He came back with his dad and 2 other family members and they filled every crack they could find. They also left me a couple of bottles of filler just in case. Ralph (the dad) was very personable and was determined to "make things right". They could have ignored my request but they came back and did the right thing. read more

The developer of our subdivision hired these folks to pave the private road of our subdivision. He Came along with his equipment and a team of workers, which consisted of his 2 middle school sons, a teenager and an adult besides the captain himself. Before They got started they asked me if they could refill the water tanks of their rollers from my hose. I agreed so they started rolling their hefty rollers almost 10 times a day on my 500 ft long asphalt driveway. This continued for several days until they were done with the road. After they left I got an opportunity to see what they had accomplished. The developer called me and asked me to drive slowly on the newly paved road given the hot weather. He said to give the road at least 2 weeks to set. After contributing 4 grand one would expect to have a normal road but what I got is something called 'chip and tar'. Basically they put a layer of coarse and sharp stone chips, 'spray' a thin layer of tar over it followed by another layer of chips and roll their baby rollers (some driven by his kids) on it. For a small subdivision with barely 1500 foot long road they charged the us a hefty 37 grand. Now after 2 months I am seeing 'cakes' of the tar with stone chips stuck to it (which can be easily dismantled by gentle pressure). I see ridges in the middle of the road and depressions, if not pits, on the sides. I was appalled by their lack of thoughtfulness in rolling their heavy equipment on my driveway. And If they call themselves professionals then I can only say that they have extremely poor work ethics. Of note, his kids approached me several times insisting that I should have my driveway sealed and even gave me a price quote. I am ordering an inspection of the road and will proceed with an action against them accordingly. read more

He managed to work his schedule and came out within a few days and repaved the drive. He did a great job and the drive looks great. When you need a fix, you need to call the best guys you can and we found it in Dean's paving. Our driveway was perfect for ATV'ing. Parking your car, not so much. We needed to get it fixed especially after having a baby. Enter Dean's paving. They showed up at 10 am, regraded the drive and had the asphalt laid and the debris gone by 3 pm. Finally decided to get my driveway paved so the hunt for a reliable paver began. I was surprised to not find Dean's listed on Yelp. Finally settled on Dean's based on Internet reviews and reluctance of other paving companies to provide an estimate. Very happy with the job Ralph Dean performed and also happy with the price. He provided several addresses in the neighborhood where we could see samples of his work and they all looked good. He was very interested in our satisfaction with his job and came back later to do a short asphalt extension to the drive at no additional cost. Ralph is definitely a man of his word. He did a great job with one small exception that cost him. At first, he did not do the grade correctly on the upper part of the drive, but when we discussed he removed the asphalt and re-graded that section. He was so amenable, I felt bad complaining. He did an excellent job. This job was 10, 000 sq. ft. of asphalt and the job to date is excellent. This is the first contractor have experienced where customer satisfaction was the goal. Like other customers, he did not ask for a deposit. I highly recommend him. I will update next summer after he seals the asphalt. read more
