I was the second person in line and the woman at the desk already had a huge attitude. The waiting space is small and they don't have enough employees for the location. They do not provide any at the door and they will send you away if you don't have one, so come prepared!

We completed the application online for the replacement card. So she took scans of our IDs and handed us a slip stating we should receive the replacement card in about 2 weeks. And we left. Assuming we get the replacement card in the expected timeframe, I would say the whole experience was a pleasant one. Of course no one wants to visit the social security office, or any government office, but for us, this was easy, everyone was professional, and we had a brief visit, and a pleasant afternoon. SSA folks, as nice as they are in this office, have absolutely no ability to fix this anymore for their customers. Shows Government at its most incompetent. Too bad, when SSA folks ran things, everything worked. These new multi- BS authentication tools are literally locking me out permanently with no obvious way to fix it, and I went in to the SSA office. Now drafting a letter to the Director of the SSA, so you know that will go absolutely nowhere. Will be fun at tax time when I don't have a 1099, yeah!
