We had gone to the story time the previous day at the Waldorf branch and compared to that location this La Plata location was meh, at best. It seemed just as small and old on the outside as it looked on the inside. HOWEVER- the story time and craft was fantastic. The staff leading it were incredible with the kids and there was quite the turnout; it seems like a real local favorite. That day was all about the weather since there happened to be a Hurricane heading towards the east coast. Parking was also quite lacking. We had to park in the lot across the way at the bank; I was nervous the whole time that we'd get towed. Luckily we did not.

I came here so I could get some work done and the kids had a ball - reading, using the computer, and playing in the "kitchen". The staff here was so NICE and accommodating. They were really in tune with the kids. We even got invited to a bird demonstration they did from the humane society, and the kids actually paid attention and made me build the bird feeder that we received and learned how to make from the presentation. Definitely adding this one to the library rotation.

I've been here four times…read more First time, I just wanted to get signed up for a library card so that way I would be set if I ever needed anything down the road. Assuming I would not really be back. The second time, I lost internet in my house for a few hours and went there to work on my laptop for work. The third time, I picked up a book that I had reserved online that they had brought over from the other branch. The fourth time I went in to use the computer to print some tax paperwork. Each time the staff members were ready to help and knowledgeable and I'm really glad because I was in a few tight spots there and I felt like the staff was always ready. I'll def be going back to either get books or study.

I've been standing in the huge foyer of this courthouse waiting on a person for a meeting. I've…read morebeen here plenty of times but since I've been standing around killing time, I've actually had a moment to "look" at the interior. The building has interesting architecture. It's a 5 story structure where one side is completely glass and open to the center of the interior. There are historical displays and art that line the wall on each level. While standing here, a citizenship swearing in ceremony has just taken place. These new US citizens were very proud to hold the American flag and take pictures with their family. I helped take photos of three different groups so they could all get in their respective pictures together. As I write this, my heart is filled with pride for those who go through this process and choose to be citizens of the United States of America, while others who are born here take citizenship for granted. If you happen to be in Greenbelt and you want to experience pride for your country; along with witnessing the joy of newly made citizens, stop into this courthouse between noon and 1pm. I believe they take place here every Monday.

The courthouse itself as an interesting building with a giant atrium. Anyone can enter, you just have to go through the metal detector. Parking is free. There is a small cafeteria inside and it is worth visiting just to take a look around at the architecture and some of the artwork. As well, the trials are open to the public so stop in and take a look at how your tax money is being spent and maybe get an interesting view of a criminal trial.

An absolute must to understand America in its 'en plein air' scenery. This is where the town of Fredericksburg sold pigs, wheat, rice, white indentured servants and shoes. Since almost all of Fredericksburg was blasted to rubble in the Civil War, this one monument still stands the test of time: not in a dustbin museum showcase, where nobody cares that an item wastes away, but in real life! There is also a playroom and area for little children and in the afternoon on the weekends, pre-teens and teens can come and reserve a time to play video games. I've had a great time teaching my kids about the library, checking out books and just the joy of reading in large part to this location. Highly recommend.

Interacting with the different ranks of military personnel was actually pretty neat as they were not stone face screamers. Within some of the certain spaces/buildings we occupied they were a little run down, yet some renovations were taking place. We didn't get to break for lunch inside the Bruce Mess Hall, yet our Hosts staged one of training classrooms into a mini dining area for us. There are two different points of entrance off of I-95, one is exit 148 - South Entrance & exit 150-A - North Entrance aka the Main Gate with full on checkpoints. In addition to the personnel, the base/area consists of family members, military students/FBI/DEA, civilians & contractors. Both Amtrak & Virginia Railway Express train services the Quantico area.
