Montford Ave. For three weeks, I went back and forth with 311 trying to resolve this issue without success. Once the matter reached Lamont Jackson's team, everything changed. They acted with urgency, professionalism, and a true sense of ownership. Within a very short period, they had the situation under control, working quickly while keeping me fully informed at every step. This crew not only completed the job efficiently, they answered every single call, took the time to address all of my questions, and treated me with respect and kindness throughout the process. Their dedication, teamwork, and attention to detail are exactly what public service should look like. They truly went above and beyond, and I feel it's important they are formally recognized for their hard work and commitment to helping Baltimore residents. Since we didn't have Maryland licenses we needed to submit either a copy of our passport or an article of official mail like an electric bill that had our current Maryland address in order to complete the registration. Instead of sending another round of letters we decided to walk down to the Board of elections office to hopefully resolve it quickly. After showing our IDs to the front desk we were shown to the office on the first floor. There's a bell to ring upon entering the office and someone came out to greet us promptly. The clerk was very friendly and helpful and after collecting our additional information and photocopying it, gave us our voter registration cards. She gave us additional information for early voting and a phone number to call in case we had any questions. Overall it was a great visit and was a lot easier to come down to the office then to do things through mail.

I rented a car from my Entetprise buddies, he rented a large bus and catered lunch for all attendees coming from NC, VA, PA, and more, our crowd was incredibly diverse. Jews, black, white, spanish, miscellaneous religions. To be part of the growing, true as the tide, we were one, we are here in the halls of justice, full of us that want to be served so well. Well, dont we? The building is an omnious structure, it looks like a place that you might not leave from once you go inside with federal marshals ready to move you through security checks, looking us over carefully. The Government presented its case, my friends attorney counter punched the statements of facutal misrepresentations. There was a lot of money involved in a short time, to the tune of millions of dollars in a few months. The presiding judge was "kept busy for days" reading all the defendants materials that were stacked high upon his desk and the wood creaked as the stacks of paperwork continued to pile up. My friend plead "guilty" and it seemed that the judge struggled imposing the heavy sentence as he was looking at thirty years, he received one year and one day, incarceration facility wherever he wants to in New York. Why? Because my friend built a church, he built a school, he "touched the lives of tens of thousands" picking up medical bills for employees and their families, writing checks to the community in excess of six figures a year which could not be denied. Yes, he caught a year in the federal pen, but it sure beats thirty.

It's very easy to get cynical about city government in Baltimore but my limited experiences (never had an actual fire thank god) with these guys has been great. The first time I needed them someone at our house was having a medical emergency. They responded quickly and seemed like serious professionals when they got here. More recently we had a false fire alarm at our house and because we were not home the alarm company dispatched the fire department to see what was going on. Unfortunately they had to bust into our house but they were careful to do it in a way that caused minimal damage and did not leave the house vulnerable to being broken into until we got home. When I spoke with one of the responding fire fighters on the phone to explain the false alarm situation he was super-nice about it and not at all unpleasant about the fact that they'd wasted their time over a twitchy smoke detector.
