SSA has now contracted out it's login responsibility. Shame on them. I am now locked out of the web app and neither Login.gov nor ID.me can help or want to help very much. SSA folks, as nice as they are in this office, have absolutely no ability to fix this anymore for their customers. Shows Government at its most incompetent. Too bad, when SSA folks ran things, everything worked. These new multi- BS authentication tools are literally locking me out permanently with no obvious way to fix it, and I went in to the SSA office. New "rule" where you need to have an appointment to get a social security card, but no warning. Did an application online and showed up, waited an hours before being told I had to leave and make an appointment. This "rule" was made 10 days ago but instead of just taking a couple min to process the application they turn you around and tell you to come back by appointment in 1 month. Yesterday(January8, 2025), I called to change my checking account number(my checking account had been hacked). I called in the morning(about 10:30AM) and decided on a return call which was indicated to be a 100 minute wait time. About 1:30(180 min. later), I decided to call again and wait for a call. You must call to make an appointment to be seen. Called office at 1:15 to make appointment. Recording said at least 120 minute wait time. 2 hours and 45 minutes on hold. Nobody ever answered. I see it is after 4:00 closing time. Please Musk...fire them all! read more

Lived in 3 states visited the SSA in 4 states, this is the most tragic and unprofessional of them all! My number was finally called, before she could finish calling my number she jumped to the next number , after waiting 1.5 hour i guess i should have jumped up and respected her time at this point. ( wasn't in a hurry getting me in so i moved my own pace too) The lady took my documents in a hall way for my replacement card , she then told me to just stand in the hall and wait for her to get back because she doesn't have a desk. I had a very pleasant and extremely helpful experience at this office. I was a walk in and waited for about 30 minutes. The staff was professional and efficient, and my business was completed in a timely manner. Called the Glen Burnie location to get assistance with something and the lady I spoke with clearly didn't want to be there. She gave us alot of attitude attitude and then hung up on us, mind you I had waiting over an hour to get through and as well as that being my 3rd time calling. You are hardly able to get through and then when you can you get attitude. Social Security is the worst. read more

The atmosphere inside the waiting area is about as depressing as you would imagine for an SSA office. However, if you arrive early in the morning (as soon as they open), the wait time can be minimal. Mr. Tabb made my experience into a surprisingly pleasant one. I told him exactly what I needed and he was quick to get it done and explain everything to me, while having a small conversation between waiting for his computer to load and the printer to print. read more

Went to this location on a Thursday around 10am and the wait time was very reasonable. I was only getting a replacement card so that may have been why. I'm rating a 1 star due to having to correct the personal helping me on my address multiple times even though it was written on the application and on my license. He submitted the paperwork before I confirmed my address, which again he had wrong. The office told me it was to late and they couldn't do anything so now my replacement card is floating around the post office. Was told I can't have yet another replacement card made up for another 2 weeks. read more

It's ok it's just like motor vehicles no one wants to come here but it's like you have to, the security guard walk around like they shit don't stink, I was there last week the security guard looked just like Bernie Mack but anyway staff was ok I was glad to get out of there, people always tend to bring their kids to these kinda places and never bring them nothing to read or play with then they expect the kid to just sit quietly smh I'm being random but it's true I usually smoke a joint before going to places like this makes the experience better and keeps me out of jail lol read more

Absolutely the worst government office I've ever had to deal with. I made sure they knew it was medically unsafe for my daughter to be in a hot room for hours. They swore to me that having an appointment would negate the excessive wait time, and insisted that my medically fragile child had to be present for the appointment. Now we've been sitting in a hot, stuffy room for over an hour and a half PAST our appointment time, my daughter is having seizures and we still haven't been called. The office is not wheelchair friendly at all either. They basically pack you in like cattle, even when you have an appointment. It's attrocious read more

The employees here are very rude esp Ms. Young. I went to this location today at around 2:50pm i waited for so long because i needed to change my last name. She did not even ask for a valid ID and the divorce decreee from the court stating that i could legally change my lastname. Instead her and another lady looked at my visa extension letter that they did not even read as she and another lady are insisting "its just a notice of receipt" and that i need to have a "stamp" on my passport. Which is not gonna happen as i already have the extension letter. She even said that she knows what she was doing as she deals with it everyday. In short, i wasted my day. read more

I guess when the hours say you close at 4:00, it really means 3:30. Called the office hoping to talk to a human... recording said the office was closed.. at 3:45. Last time I checked, 3:45 isn't 4:00. Customer service appears to be lacking at best. If I could give 0 stars, I would. read more

This complaint is on the Social Security Administration in Annapolis, Maryland on Truman Parkway. Don't call here. There are other complaints on Yahoo about the call center people, especially a male named mr. h... hangs up on everyone. I have experienced the same. I believe SS in Annapolis, Md hired this mr. h to hang up and he does this all day to everyone. Someone that answered the phone told me she was a supervisor and I needed to give her my social security number right now!. I asked her for her name. She stated, was a supervisor and refused to give me her name. I asked her what the name of her boss was and she refused to give it to me. She threatened me and told me she is tracing the call. I was disconnected after she stated that. I called back again and got the same alleged Supervisor. I told her she has to identify herself. She refused too. I wish someone in authority at SS would understand what call center people do in their job. I was on the phone for 4 hours all day holding. When I finally got someone at SS they hung up. No one will give you a Supervisor or Managers name. They are bullying customers that have questions. read more

I called the Glen Bernie Social Security office directly at 866-528-9873. They were Very helpful and pleasant over the phone in assisting me to make an appointment with them online or over the phone now. I was also told I could come in, walk in, directly to make an appointment for that day, the earlier the better. I was encouraged to come in EARLY morning, as without an appointment, the wait maybe long or they maybe all booked up that day. Thank you. read more
