Seafood pot au feu
Kelly W.

I had the seafood pot au feu snd my boyfriend had the leg of rabbit. The flavor development in that rabbit dish was incredible--super delicious! The pot au feu was also very tasty and hearty! I could only eat about half of it. This place does not do any cocktails except for liquor and soda. They do have a wine list, and serve a wide variety of liquors that they serve straight up. We enjoyed a very nice apple strudel with ice cream for dessert.

Filet mignon, mushroom sauce, fries
Janie T.

Ordered a filet mignon and it was hands down the best I've ever had. Perfectly done. One thing to note, is that (Belgium in general) if you ask for medium, it will lean a little more towards medium rare. The fries were also fantastic, and not too salted, and the mushroom sauce was out of this world! The place itself is cozy (reserve a table to be sure they have a sear for you), it's a nice calm ambience and the waiters are incredibly nice and they absolutely know the menu. They keep an eye on you,.but don't hover. The wait was short too, from when food was ordered, to when it was served. I would 100% recommend this place and will definitely be returning!

Fish stew
Vicki T.

I came in on a rainy day and was immediately warmed up by the food and people. I ordered the fish stew - the broth was very creamy and rich in flavors with a touch of spice that was absolutely the highlight of the dish. It also had a variety of seafood with huge fish chunks.

Flemish Stew

It could be that I was cold and hungry but I thought this place was great. The service was friendly and relatively prompt especially by European standards. I had the Flemish stew which came with fries and it was exactly what I hoped. Hot and delicious. I didn't stay for dessert as I wanted to go elsewhere for a waffle but I saw some desserts including a brûlée which was served with a flame. The interior was bright and clean (went for lunch). Would return if ever in Bruges again!

Apple dessert

We have a pleasant meal at De Gastro on our first night in Brugge. We started with a fresh buratta enjoining it itch the hearty house bread. The sole was swimming in delectable butter and of course came with fries and salad and the Coq au vin was melt in your mouth yumminess. We had to have the apple dessert which came out steaming hot with a generous dollop of vanilla ice cream. Everything was great. Service was friendly and efficient in this cozy restaurant with a modern vibe. Prices were reasonable too so a nice spot for a lovely dinner. This place seemed especially popular with Brits, not sure why, with many tables reflecting the English accent.

Croquettes

Spent a night in Bruges this past August and walked around trying to avoid the touristy places to eat and wow did we find the perfect restaurant. We had the croquettes, mussels and coq au vin and they were the best of each we've ever had. Beautiful restaurant and truly wonderful meal. We walked in late with no reservation and we never felt rushed. I want to return to Bruges just to go back here again.

Lemoncello sorbet

Absolutely delicious. The food is amazing, the service welcoming, and the prices realistic. I seldom find a restaurant that score so highly. Try the limoncello sorbet!

Tough steak

Took a day trip from Ghent to Bruge. This was my lunch spot for the day. I did the market menu set. It came with a croquette, steak and creame brûlée as dessert. I was not a fan of the steak. Not sure what cut was the steak, but was to thick in my opinion. Only filet mignon should be that thick. It was really tough to cut and chew. The center was blue basically. The creame brûlée on the other hand is straight up FIRE. It came to me with a 4 inch high flame. 10/10 for the creame brûlée. 6/10 for the whole experience. More reviews from my Euro Trip to come.

Garlic and cream mussels and salmon with tartare sauce

*HEART EYES* !! Wow. This may have been the best salmon I've ever eaten. And the mussels? Best in Belgium. Hands down. So tender and almost -- fluffy? They're incredible. I cannot recommend enough!!! Everything was just PERFECT!

Mussels

Truly fantastically delicious! A quick trip to Bruges at the end of a month long European trip and I can say this was an amazing way to finish as my final dinner before heading back to the US! The ambience was wonderful and romantic (and we were in the back room!). The service was friendly, attentive. The food was filling and AMAZING. My husband and I went with the fixed price menu. Both started with the mussels, he had the fish stew, I had the Flemish beef stew with fried and salad. We finished with creme brulee and chocolate mousse. There was way more than enough food and everything was truly fantastic. Highly highly recommend!

Ribs

Recommended by Les Frenchies on YouTube; enjoyed our food and experience until it was time to pay…read morethe check and our waiter suggested that my husband pay in cash. I asked if there was a fee for using a card, and he told us that if we tip on the card, the money goes straight to the owners, but if we tip in cash, it would go to the wait staff. Since tipping is not standard practice in Belgium, I was really put off by the suggestion.

I did some hardcore research prior to our family Belgium trip. It was the first trip in years with…read moremy parents and the first trip when I was mature enough to put some thought into it so stakes were high. This place seemed to be very highly rated and provided an opportunity to enjoy some of the local fare. We just arrived to Bruges today but we have been in Belgium for five days so we're pretty much locals by now. This place is right in the middle of town where all of the interesting and touristy shit is and you can literally see one of the tall landmark buildings (probably a belfry or a church or something) down the block. It's small but decorated in a very cute manner, for lack of a better term. There are really pretty chandeliers in there and vibe is nicer but not in a pretentious way. We squeezed ourselves into our table just next to the bar. My extremely health conscious (to a pathological degree) mother was disappointed in the lack of low fat options (there is a bit of cream in most dishes). As a vegetarian I struggled a bit but they did have a vegetable soup and a few starters sans meat products. I ordered the cheese croquettes to start and a salad that seemed safe, menu includes goat cheese, fruit, nut bread, and honey "vinaigrette". One of my dining companions ordered a chicken dish and the other two ordered the moules frites which I aggressively suggested due to aforementioned research. Before I forget to mention, two of my dining companions also ordered the vegetable soup which was a puréed deal instead of a minestrone-type deal. I did hear good murmurings as the soup was being consumed. The cheese croquettes were fantastic. I previously had the pleasure of consuming this dish earlier in our trip but these were superior. They were so crispy on the outside it was absolute heaven. The inside cheese was soft and warm and I'm literally salivating thinking about it. GF ordered the moules frites, "it was good". I kindly assisted in the consumption of the accompanying fries and they were served with the standard mayo. They were crispy and warm. After a really uncomfortable deliberation with the waiter, my mother ended up with the mussels and a side salad. It was like pulling teeth getting her to admit the mussels were tasty but I was ultimately successful, My Dad was very surprised to see only a plate of chicken and sauce but was relieved when his side of fries arrived. His report on the dish was that it was good but that he "has had better". My salad was quite the sight but I was also bummed to find that bacon was sprinkled about the frankly impressive quantity of ingredients. I wish the bacon was listed on the menu description as this would have at least allowed me to ask for its omission or order something else. The salad also did not have any honey vinaigrette but instead, the standard cream substance Belgium seems to top every salad with. This was decent. For dessert, we ordered a waffle with ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. It was a Brussels style waffle and I tend to prefer liege (I told you I was a local now) but don't think I didn't demolish that shit. GF thought it was a bit "underdone" for her taste but my Dad actually preferred the texture to a more crispy version. The service was excellent and I was very pleased the waiter had the patience to deal with all of our questions and neuroses. This is a great spot to visit in town especially if you are a carnivore without dietary restrictions.
