    Rabbit stew

We were looking for a typical Belgium/Flemish meal and were directed here by locals. The food and atmosphere didn't disappoint! When we walked in the first thing to note would be the adorably quaint interior. We were promptly greeted and seated. We places our orders and while waiting they brought our small tasting of their cauliflower soup which was AMAZING! The main course came out within a very reasonable amount of time. My main course... the Rabbit Stew. Amazing! It was slightly tough to eat because of all the little bones but tender and exploding with flavor. The side of frites was perfect to sop up the gravy. If I find myself in Brugge again I will make my way here for a repeat of this meal!

Great spot for some Belgian and French cuisine near the heart of Europe's most well-preserved cities. Our first attempt coming here on a Sunday was a bust since they were closed, but we came back the next day and thank goodness we did. Turns out In Den Wittenkop would end up being our favorite restaurant in Bruges. The restaurant is small but mighty. They have a small seating area on the first floor with a tiny, tiny staircase that leads up to the second floor restrooms. The kitchen is located on top and all the food prepared is brought down through an elevator shaft of sorts. It really feels like you are in a sophisticated restaurant while dining here. My friend and I shared two entrees as usual: the mussels and fries, and their rabbit stew. The mussels were FANTASTIC and the best we've had the entire time we were in Bruges. There was plenty of seafood inside the pot and the garlic broth permeating through each shell made it even more delicious. I was also in love with the rabbit and how tender the meat was, nearly falling off the bone. Yum! I am so glad we came here for out last meal. No regrets whatsoever!

    Shrimp croquettes with oozing filling

A little gem not far off from the Market in Bruges. Small and intimate space. My wife and I were part of a tour group but we branched off and didn't eat at the main square where most tourists ate. We had no regrets. For the appetizer we had the salmon as well as the shrimp croquettes. Salmon was fresh and juicy but the croquettes were the best I've ever had. The filling just oozed out as you bit into it. For the main course, my wife ordered the mussels and I had the pork cheek. The mussels were succulent, its soup was intricate as it had not just onions, but also bay leaf and other herbs. Pork cheek took a while to cook but was heavenly. You could tell the stew was prepared with great care, as the flavor of wine got deep into the dish. The pork cheek was so well-flavored and melt-in-your-mouth quality that my wife, who detests pork, actually enjoyed it and felt it was almost like beef. The frites (tip: order a side of their homemade mayo) were a perfect complement. If you have the time in Bruges, this place is definitely worth a visit.

We order the lunch menu- two 1/2 portion of the mussel in cream and garlic Sauce (15 euro each, its 13 euro if you don't want any sauce and want the nature flavor) . The mussels were very fresh and both of the flavor were very good. Better than the one we had in Brussels. the atmosphere is casual and romantic. I'll definitely come back here if I'm in Bruges again.

Came specifically for the mussels and YUM! The mussels were fresh and delicious and came in a huge pot filled to the top. I expected a smaller portion based on experience, but it was like I was eating out of a bottomless pot! Well worth the money.

It was very warm and hospitable service, we felt very welcome. The complimentary cauliflower soup was on point. The duck breast was a lovely dish and the mussels were as good as can be expected. Nice beer selection as well.

We made last minute reservations just before they opened and got a seat right next to the heater. This proved very valuable as we had just arrived and were cold from the walking. We had the cheese croquettes for a starter. They brought out a sample fish beignet as well, which was out of this world. She had the duck salad starter as a main meal, and he had the cod. Both were excellently prepared. Portion sizes were just fine, and the atmosphere was delightful.

This place is amazing! We ordered lunch menu mussels which is 1/2 portion of the regular, perfect for those who wants to try different flavors. I got the garlic butter and my sister got the cream. Oh my gosh they were both super delicious, the sauce was perfect, not too salty and the mussels were yugeeee. Adorable decor and clean restrooms. I need to come back to this place when I'm back in Bruges!!

It checked all the boxes I was looking for - local Belgian cuisine, affordable, close by, and open late. Exactly what you want after a long day of drinking Belgian beers. I didn't realize ribs were such a big deal in Belgium, so I was genuinely excited when I ordered them... only to feel deep disappointment when the server returned to let me know they had just sold out. Luckily, I pivoted to the vol-au-vent and had absolutely no regrets. The chicken was moist and creamy, and the pastry was incredibly flaky and light. Naturally, I paired it with a Trappist ale, which felt mandatory. Cozy, satisfying, and quintessentially Belgian--this spot lived up to the recommendation and then some.

My son loved his beef stew and applesauce. My husband loved his salmon and I absolutely loved my salad! The tomatoes tasted like they were right out of a garden!! The waiters were very nice and helpful, making recommendations that proved to be amazing!

However do not let this deter you. They are highly efficient and have a system therefore the wait goes fast. Just be sure to be situationally aware. It's along a busy street where a lot of horse carriage rides transit, so don't hang out in the street. Also, be mindful to step aside once you place your order (probably to the left facing the order window, but do not block the walkway that allows the employees to deliver your order. They call out your number and it's hot and fresh. There was no room to sit on the steps/stoops so I stood and enjoyed my waffle. Personally, I feel like one Belgian waffle is sufficient to share between 2 people because it's rich and really sweet if you get the chocolate one. While I enjoyed it and the presentation was excellent, the waffle was very dense and really chewy. But I think that's how they are since it's made from yeast based dough. It's definitely worth the try, just too sweet and too chewy for my preference. Staff were very friendly and kind as well!!
