We were visiting Bruges and staying at Hotel Aragon, and this restaurant came highly recommended on the hotel's list. It checked all the boxes I was looking for - local Belgian cuisine, affordable, close by, and open late. Exactly what you want after a long day of drinking Belgian beers. I didn't realize ribs were such a big deal in Belgium, so I was genuinely excited when I ordered them... only to feel deep disappointment when the server returned to let me know they had just sold out. Luckily, I pivoted to the vol-au-vent and had absolutely no regrets. The chicken was moist and creamy, and the pastry was incredibly flaky and light. Naturally, I paired it with a Trappist ale, which felt mandatory. Cozy, satisfying, and quintessentially Belgian--this spot lived up to the recommendation and then some.

We had a lovely lunch here. We made reservations for 12:30pm lunch but we arrived when the restaurant opened at 12pm. The staff had no issues with our early arrival and we were warmly welcomed. I ordered the mussels with white wine and also included fries on the side. The mussels servings were a massive portion for one person and I was able to eat 80% of it. I think the tapas size for mussels would have been better for me. Meanwhile, my husband got the Flemish stew and it included a side salad. The stew was tasty as well. Service was great. Our server was very friendly and he spoke Dutch and English. Overall, I would come again to try other things on the menu.

Our son actually looked up and recommended this restaurant to us. He's 16. His recommendation was right on point! The food was so fresh and flavorful! My son loved his beef stew and applesauce. My husband loved his salmon and I absolutely loved my salad! The tomatoes tasted like they were right out of a garden!! It was one of the best salads I've ever had! The restaurant could be good just for a casual dinner or it could also be a nice romantic place to spend time with loved ones! The waiters were very nice and helpful, making recommendations that proved to be amazing!

Fantastic restaurant! Super close to the main square in Bruges. Two floors, casual environment - great vibe! Super friendly and attentive servers. Had mussels as starter. Delicious - just enough. Beef stew and vol au vent (chicken and meatball stew with puff pastry) were hearty. Great flavours and portions. Definitely recommend - definitely need a reservation. Seems to be always busy!!!!

Great Belgium pub fare! I had a regular restaurant BXL I went to in NYC while working there years back for Steak fries and mussels! This one was just like it! Comfy bar setting local brews, great steak, mussels and fries! And since we were in Belgium great chocolate dessert- Profiteroles. When years ago I used to serve these at the Ritz Restaurant in NB, CA did not know the history or how good they could be with the right chocolate sauce! Fabulous here!

Great service and ambiance, my husband loved the bolognese but I had the mussels as tapa which was more than enough with fries for dinner but the garlic cream sauce seemed to be lacking cream. It was too watery. Otherwise loved the place.

Food was excellent!! Service was excellent. I highly recommend reservations! We did not have reservations but got lucky since there were only 2 of us. Quaint pub environment. With more space and bar upstairs. One of their featured dishes~ Asparagus a la Flamande- was excellent! We are from USA and don't have a dish like this back home and it was very tasteful and the asparagus was in season which is why it was offered and is something I would order again. The side of roasted veggies was very good as well. Good portion size and not over cooked. Would definitely come back when in Bruges again.

We had a great experience here! Arrived around 9PM and were seated promptly. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy - felt old and authentic. I got the Flemish beefstew with Trappist beer and applesauce, and my husband got the BIGGEST serving of mussels I've ever seen, in a delicious cream sauce with lots of fennel. I typically don't like mussels but I kept going back for a few bites of his. My stew was very tasty (was a little bit over but the sauce was delicious), and the apple sauce came out warm, which was very tasty and seemed homemade (good chunks of apple in there). The serving sizes were very generous for the price of the food. The service was very timely, attentive and friendly. Would recommend this place to people if they're travelling to Bruges!

Very popular Belgium restaurant off the plaza. They were quite busy on Friday night. A reservation is definitely recommended. The mussels were so tender and the king pawns were very flavorful.

Everything was perfect from the moment that we walked in, super nice staff and delicious food. Ordered the Flemish stew and it was nothing short of amazing. First time trying it and the apple sauce was a pleasant surprise as well. I highly recommend eating here!

Mussels, fries, shrimp scampi and cheese and pickles!

They seated us without reservations and proceeded to serve some of the most amazing tapas ever!! Cheese with mustard and pickles... who knew it was delicious with everything. Shrimp scampi in flavorful sauce. But the MUSSELS!!! The tapas portion was huge and SO delicious. Finished with crème brûlée. I'll be back!!

We had reservations for dinner here for our final night in Bruges at 7. This cozy spot has a pub-like atmosphere and super friendly service, it's like a warm Flemish hug. The menu features the Flemish classics made in the traditional ways. We started with shrimp croquettes (not my favorite-very fishy) but that was eclipsed by the tremendous Vol-au-Vent (Flemish chicken pot pie) with its savory peppery sauce, big chunks of tender white meat chicken, mushrooms, and tiny beef/pork meatballs . Easily my favorite Flemish dish although the beef stew is a close second and this place makes a great version as well. Of course it comes with fries and salad and unlike the other dining spots we've visited, they clearly put some thought and care into the construction of their salad with red onion, fresh cherry tomatoes a bit of corn and a nice dressing-delicious. Service was super friendly, unless you arrive without a reservation-in which case you will likely be told "sorry, we are fully booked"-which was the case even on a quiet Monday night in early December. So do yourself a favor, reserve online ahead of time (easy and instant) and bring your appetite because even though you are full, you'll want the profiteroles for dessert. Highly recommended

With so many options, we were excited to explore what they had to offer. Today, we ordered the onion soup, shrimp and cheese croquettes with salad, rabbit with potato croquettes, and the beef stew with fries. Both entrees also came with apple sauce, which was an interesting and surprisingly good pairing. The ambiance is warm, cozy, and inviting, and the service was great. The portions were generous, and most of the dishes we tried were delicious. The beef stew was the highlight of the meal. The meat was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. Eating it with the apple sauce created a nice balance and kept the dish from feeling too heavy. The rabbit was also very tender, it looked similar to a chicken thigh and drumstick, although you can definitely tell the bone structure is different. The apple sauce paired nicely with the rabbit and added a great contrast to the flavor. The shrimp croquettes were tasty, but the cheese flavor was not my favorite. The onion soup was also very different from the traditional versions we're used to. It had a strong, unusual flavor that felt a little harsh and even gave a slight burning sensation in the throat, so it wasn't my favorite dish.

I had no idea what to order and asked for a recommendation and this was it. This soup blew my mind, spoonful after spoonful it was the yummiest, most delish, comfort meal I've had in a long time. We had a very and tasty experience. Highly recommend.

The beers here are amazing with over 20+ on tap there is something for everyone - and some must try Trappist beers. I absolutely loved this spot. Only reason for not having 5 stars? The service. Although the place was relatively crowded, it was not very crazy at all especially when we first came in after opening and the staff behind the bar were kind of rude. I asked for a flight and they seemed annoyed they had to make one instead of just pouring 1 beer, and i was reading the menu and didn't have all my numbers ready to fire off - more upset. Additionally, my wife and I sat down at the bar about 1 hour after the place opened and we both had glass all over our chairs and now in our bottoms. The bartender was annoyed when my wife asked him to clean it - he said some glass thing exploded there before opening... so you didn't clean it? And then were annoyed customers had glass in their pants? make that make sense.

I also tried to order nachos and the bartender pointed me to small bags of chips from a display on the bar (I think they were Doritos--not what I expected). I decided to skip the snack.
