Stopped in on a Monday at 1700. Greeted with a we aren't open yet however the door was open and it was a couple minutes after 1700. Sat at the bar and greeted by friendly bartenders. Ordered a few beers which were all proper. Clean and nice cellar ambience. Would definitely stop back in. Cash or card accepted. Chips/crisps available for purchase. Bar or table seating. Definitely recommend.

An underground basement of an abbey setting turned outstanding beer bar. Stone ceilings and archways with a dark and mysterious atmosphere. Extensive bottle and tap menu and surrounded by locals and internationals alike. Need I say more? The canal city of Brugge is already beautiful, but this place is a true GEM. Not only is the interior unique, but the beer selection is top notch (Cantillon Gueuze on draft!) and the company stellar. They open later (~5pm), but do ensure this local watering hole ends up on your itinerary. I cannot emphasize this enough!

Wonderful menu that is actually a book! Great drink (beer) selection, but there is alimited full bar. The building is what i would imagine (reminiscent) of a WW1 bunker. A lively young international crowd keeps this place hoping!

    Tasty beer cheese and olives.

This is the best Belgian beer bar I've ever been to! The beer list is truly extensive and includes bottled Westvleteren - I know! And the atmosphere is truly unique - like your in the basement of a castle. Every staff I interacted with was busy, patient, and super friendly. Really don't miss it!

After dinner, we headed over to La Trappiste to try a few beers. They're an underground, dungeon-esque beer bar. We dropped in on a Saturday evening (around 9:00pm) and while it was busy, it wasn't packed. The music was great and there's even fooseball at the front. People are there to chill and enjoy a few beers. There's 25 beers on tap (you can choose any in a flight). There's also a few speciality beers such as Westvleteren. - 2x Flights (€13,00 for 5) - generous pours. We opted for the Belle Vue kriek (our favourite of the bunch), La Trappe blonde trappist, Brugge tripel, cherry chouffe (didn't love the after taste note) and pêche mel niche (didn't taste any peach flavour). Our buddy went with Belle Vue kriek, troubadour magma, Martin's orange crush IPA, l'ermitage berto's breakfast IPA and huyhge special series J.I's IPA. His favourite was the last one. Card only for more than €10,00. Chill bar to have a few Belgian beers.

Best best best bar in the heart of Bruges! If you are looking for Westvleteren- this is your place to go! Wonderful atmosphere- located in a medieval cellar. Great music and outstanding rotating selection of beer. The food? Well- I'd recommend coming after dinner... Overall an amazing place. One of my favorites in Bruges!

Pretty unique and cool place. Has quite an old vibe to it. The bartenders are funny + nice. Good find in Belg.

I have to agree with everyone else: this is a 5-star establishment for sure. It's not often you can find pick-your-own tasting flights over here, but Le Trappiste is at the ready to meet that need. The pours are 15 cl (or more depending on who pours it) each and you can pick five from the extensive draft list. It costs 12€. As a solo traveler, it was a challenge to finish the whole flight. Fortunately I wasn't a fan of one beer so I left some behind without feeling bad about it. The rest were really good though! Vibe in here was cool and medieval/historic. I'm glad I arrived early enough to get a seat. Drinking 5 beers without a seat could prove difficult.

    Beer tasting - 5 for 13€

Great place for beers! They had 21 beers on tap, with a good mix of Trappist and other beers. Very interesting flavors too, like cherry beer. You can choose any 5 for your own custom tasting for 13€. They came on a paddle, and they looked like they were about 3 oz pours. The place was packed on a Saturday night, as to be expected, but we were still able to find two seats at an oak barrel (being used as a table). There was foosball as you entered, and a lot of bench, oak barrel, and bar seating. Great place that you must stop by when in Bruges.

Just some nuts and packs of chips. We got the popular paprika chips and tried their two most popular beers. They really have interesting beer glasses, we saw others carrying foghorn shaped glasses, hourglass shaped glasses, etc. They have both outside and inside seating. We sat outside right by the canal. The view was great from there. Loved our beers too! There are no servers, you have to order at the counter and wait for your beers by the adjacent station.

On a walking tour of the city, we passed by 2be so I made a point to visit once the tour ended. The beer wall in the entry way is pretty awesome! I have no idea how many beers are on display, but each one has it's own drinking glass. I visited on a Saturday afternoon so it was very busy with patrons. The lines can get long, but they actually move pretty fast. The bartenders are nice and efficient. You can scan a QR code for the menu or you can pull down a menu from the ceiling while you're in line. They have menus in multiple languages including English, Spanish, and French. I had the Brugs Tarwebier. I don't remember what size I ordered but it was a decent amount of beer. I liked the glass that it was served in. They have really cool drinkware, but don't even think about taking it because they have antitheft sensors on them. All of the beers were less than €7. I really wanted to try a Delirium Tremens, but I was short on time and wasn't gonna pound a beer that is 8.5% ABV. Maybe next time lol.

It's the kind of place you get drunk and look around and marvel at the inevitability of life's wonderment. That if you choose a path, it somehow finds you. And with Leine being blonde and gorgeous carrying around a tiny jar of moonshine infused custard for occasional dips of her pinky, I felt myself turning into an image I'd dreamed of since the age of nine, a traveling artist with a muse and the caked wavy hair once worn by Tristan Tzara, the dark sunken eyes of Man Ray, Leine posing at Bar des Amis as if in black and white with a bottle of Duval. She pours it slowly. Sips, leans in to kiss me and I can still hear the bubbles fizzle out on her lips. The bartender is tall and modelesque, and takes to Leine. He adds us on Facebook. I order three rounds of beer here and they're sweet; this moment is so rich, it's cloying. I can't help but think of what can go wrong. Yet the barstools feel stable beneath us. The Bar des Amis furniture is nothing special. The patrons, though, are. They are glad, not yelling at the TV during soccer like in the other pubs. The bartender gives us a free shot and smiles at my flirtatious girl. Her shoulders are exposed and she's receptive. Her energy is a powerful light beaming from the chest. She reminds me of me! He leans in to tell us that Brugge is thinking of creating a network of underground piping strictly for beer because the cobblestone alleyways are too narrow for the beer trucks. Leine laughs but I've turned cynical and profess that the town looks a bit like the town in Pinocchio. Like the buildings are set pieces and that our perfect little world might crumble. How much beer did I have here? Am I that unsure of her love? I'm being unfair, of course. Leine has done nothing to deserve my darkness. Her hand has been a fixture on my thigh. It's not until later, when we meet an Englishman here, who warns us of pickpockets in Rome, that our night unfolds into powder white oblivion.

The Bruges Beer Experience is a must if you're in Bruges and wanting to sample some Belgium beers…read more I'd highly recommend coming here. You can come on your own and cozy up to the bar for a tasting or a pint all on your own. Just note seating will be first come first serve and since it's popular it can get busy. Probably a little bit better coming on a weekday if you have the flexibility. I came with a tour group which had its perks. We had reserved seating which was very nice. The Bruges Beer Experience is located inside the Beer Museum in downtown Bruges Belgium. The signage was clear but again come with a guide as a part of a tour guaranteed we didn't miss it. It's popular enough though you'll find it by walking with your GPS or asking the shops. Located on the upper floor it's cool that the bar is on the second/third floor (went up a few flights of stairs with turns so lost count of floors) but let's just say you are high up and if you can snag a window seat you'll have a great view of the town while sipping a beer. If you want to do a beer flight is only 10 euros, very reasonable. By getting a tour/coming with a guide we were offered reserved seating, four beer samples (good size), and a cup of cheese bites to split amongst our table. It was really lovely! Perfect amount for a taste and light snacking. The cheese was good and the beers were awesome! There wasn't a beer that I didn't like. Good selection and after the tasters you can certainly order more beers if you'd like more. My favorite beer was their starting light beer and amber. Honestly though everything was good, big fan of the double amber I believe they called it. Good beers here and it got busier throughout the day. I liked that the crowd had good range, definitely a tourist spot in some ways but stellar beers I wish I was a local! Huge kudos to the staff here because they are so nice and welcoming. Sometimes when you come to places like this with a tour the establishments aren't always as cheering to have you (tourists can be a pain) but here they made you feel like VIP and totally appreciate your business and are proud to share about their beers and such. Definitely 5 stars when it came to friendless and attentiveness. I appreciated the high energy of the staff and that they allowed me to take pictures of the bottles of all of the beers that I was trying on tap. Made for a memorable experience and if you like beer you 100% need to stop in here. I'd come back easily without a tour just to sit back and relax sampling some more of their beers. They have a new sour calling my name so I must come back!

When you first enter the museum, you're greeted with a really eye-catching display of beer cans, that spell out the word "beer", and a bunch of really cool beer posters. Once you get upstairs, they'll give you a tablet and it becomes an interactive experience. There are QR codes all over the museum that you scan, and you can watch videos/hear audio about the history of beer. I would say the coolest exhibit is the globe. You can scan various countries and learn about the history of beer from those regions. It took us about a hour to see pretty much everything we wanted but if you want to go at a more leisurely pace, or if you're super into beer, you could spend 1.5 to 2 hours here. Afterwards, you can head to the tasting room (if you booked that addition) and they give you 4 tokens for a tasting. My favorite beer was the Rodenbach Fruitage, which was a nice and crisp raspberry beer. They also have snacks for purchase, but we were saving our stomachs for an actual lunch. It's definitely worth a visit when you're in Bruges. Don't forget the photo ops with the bottles of beer on the wall in the museum!
