I bought tickets online about 2 weeks prior for a 12 pm Monday time slot with a tasting. It was such a cool experience! When you first enter the museum, you're greeted with a really eye-catching display of beer cans, that spell out the word "beer", and a bunch of really cool beer posters. Once you get upstairs, they'll give you a tablet and it becomes an interactive experience. There are QR codes all over the museum that you scan, and you can watch videos/hear audio about the history of beer. I would say the coolest exhibit is the globe. You can scan various countries and learn about the history of beer from those regions. It took us about a hour to see pretty much everything we wanted but if you want to go at a more leisurely pace, or if you're super into beer, you could spend 1.5 to 2 hours here. Afterwards, you can head to the tasting room (if you booked that addition) and they give you 4 tokens for a tasting. My favorite beer was the Rodenbach Fruitage, which was a nice and crisp raspberry beer. They also have snacks for purchase, but we were saving our stomachs for an actual lunch. It's definitely worth a visit when you're in Bruges. Don't forget the photo ops with the bottles of beer on the wall in the museum! read more

The Bruges Beer Experience is a must if you're in Bruges and wanting to sample some Belgium beers. I'd highly recommend coming here. You can come on your own and cozy up to the bar for a tasting or a pint all on your own. Just note seating will be first come first serve and since it's popular it can get busy. Probably a little bit better coming on a weekday if you have the flexibility. I came with a tour group which had its perks. We had reserved seating which was very nice. The Bruges Beer Experience is located inside the Beer Museum in downtown Bruges Belgium. The signage was clear but again come with a guide as a part of a tour guaranteed we didn't miss it. It's popular enough though you'll find it by walking with your GPS or asking the shops. Located on the upper floor it's cool that the bar is on the second/third floor (went up a few flights of stairs with turns so lost count of floors) but let's just say you are high up and if you can snag a window seat you'll have a great view of the town while sipping a beer. If you want to do a beer flight is only 10 euros, very reasonable. By getting a tour/coming with a guide we were offered reserved seating, four beer samples (good size), and a cup of cheese bites to split amongst our table. It was really lovely! Perfect amount for a taste and light snacking. The cheese was good and the beers were awesome! There wasn't a beer that I didn't like. Good selection and after the tasters you can certainly order more beers if you'd like more. My favorite beer was their starting light beer and amber. Honestly though everything was good, big fan of the double amber I believe they called it. Good beers here and it got busier throughout the day. I liked that the crowd had good range, definitely a tourist spot in some ways but stellar beers I wish I was a local! Huge kudos to the staff here because they are so nice and welcoming. Sometimes when you come to places like this with a tour the establishments aren't always as cheering to have you (tourists can be a pain) but here they made you feel like VIP and totally appreciate your business and are proud to share about their beers and such. Definitely 5 stars when it came to friendless and attentiveness. I appreciated the high energy of the staff and that they allowed me to take pictures of the bottles of all of the beers that I was trying on tap. Made for a memorable experience and if you like beer you 100% need to stop in here. I'd come back easily without a tour just to sit back and relax sampling some more of their beers. In my experience, the museum can be skipped, as it's pretty underwhelming in my opinion. The bar is nice with a decent selection of beers. It's a nice spot to hang out in but there's definitely more interesting places/bars around the area to try first. read more

This was the perfect experience for beer lovers and anyone who needs a break from the crowds. The tour was informative and interesting. I was particularly a fan of the health part of the tour! Once finished we had several tastings while overlooking the Markt Square. The bartenders were not friendly at all but it didn't damper a few lovely hours inside. read more

Pretty cool place that I just stumbled across in Bruges. And that was before I had a drink! This museum is located at the top of a three story walkup, so it's quite a hike to get to there. The museum itself is tiny. You could probably go through it in an hour or so even if you looked at every exhibit. They are very high tech in that they give you an iPad mini and it's set up to scan QR codes at each exhibit where you can listen to a description or read something about what you're seeing. I liked the technology a lot. They touch briefly on the history of beer and then talk about how it evolved in Belgium and how it was impacted by wars and governments, etc. It's interesting and broad, but not very deep. In the attic space, they have information about the brewing process that is educational. Once you finish, you can go down to the tap room and turn in your iPad for three tokens. Each token gets you a small beer. They say each pour is 15 cl, but I think the lady who pulled my draught was a little more generous. They had a great selection of beers that you won't find anywhere, including three cask style beers that aren't seen very often outside of their breweries. The woman bartender told me the place had only been open a few months. It still had that new museum smell. For €11, some people might think this is overpriced, but for the cool beer I had, I think it was worth it. You can expect to exit through the gift shop. read more

The wife and I came up on the beer museum entirely by chance, as we didn't even know this was a thing in central Bruges. We went up the stairs and signed up for the tour and tasting at the end of the tour. I think that it's 12 euros for the tour and tasting and 8 euros for the tour alone. They give you an iPad and you just scan the exhibits to either get audio and/or video material about the subject matter. The exhibits are set up on 2 floors with the top floor exhibit going through the whole process of beer making. You get to see and feel all the ingredients and see the process of how different beer styles came about. There is definitely a Belgium focus on beer with the exhibits but there is also one exhibit that covers craft beer development all over the world. The wife and I probably spent at least a couple of hours there for the exhibits and sampling a few beers in the tasting bar at the end. I think that any beer lover would enjoy the museum. read more

You know that Bruges is a tourist trap but a fun one though especially for people like us who were coming here for the first (myself) and second (the BF) time! Let me start off that I'm not a fan of beer but I can appreciate the work that goes into it to make the many varieties of flavors around the world. I came in pretty amateur-y really not knowing what went into the process so this was a nice educational opportunity. There is a beer tasting afterwards so those who would like to participate should buy the self guided tour and the tasting at the beginning. You get an iPad of sorts with head phones and you go around scanning various pictures which will then trigger a narrator to tell you about what you are looking at. They start with the basics (why is beer popular), history and then the brewing process. The information here will appeal to those who know nothing and to those who know a decent amount. Probably one of my favorite was towards the end of the 2nd story where you learn about all the categories of beer and the nuances about the brewing process that allow you to have those subtleties. Then you head downstairs and then out towards the tasting area where you'll be greeted by this beautiful bar only of beer. I forget the number of beer you're allowed to try in the tasting but you can always buy additional glasses if you would like. Again, I'm not a beer drinker but I was fascinated by the different smells and colors that they all came in. Certainly a fun experience here in the center of the city that can last up to 2 hours including the tasting. With a big group of beer lovers this can a really great place to use up some time! read more

I had high hopes for this 'museum', but was very disappointed. I brew beer and I hoped to learn something about what makes Belgium beer unique. It was nice looking, but devoid of useful content. The only thing specific to Belgium seemed to be an exhibit of empty bottles. For 9€ they give you an iPad with head phones and tell you it will explain anything you point the iPad at. I struggled to get it to respond to anything I viewed, When it did recognize something, it droned on so slowly I took off the head phones and started reading the text. The information was incredibly generic and not useful. Yes you get to touch some grain and hop pellets. The actual brewing equipment or process is not explained in any obvious way. It just seems like a gimmick to get you to come up 3 flights of steps to spend money in their bar. I suggest you go to a ground floor bar and drink Belgium beer on tap. You'll learn as much as the 'museum' without wasting 9€ each. read more

Nice little tasting room, plenty of seating. Bartenders are very knowledgeable about the beers on tap. Tappers are not outrageously priced. I am not sure I would go out of my way to grab a beer here, but if you are walking by, worth stopping into the tasting room for a tap. Note: The place closes pretty early (5 pm). read more

Being the beer lover as I am, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting here! For our family of four we got the family deal which included 6 tastings (3 each for the parents). They do a cool thing for the kids, they follow a comic book and the story sounded super cool. The tour is interactive and you learn a lot about beer. Whether you like it or not, you can appreciate the process and why people love it. At the end, you get your tokens and get to sample the beers they have on tap. For the beer lover, history buff and science person this museum is perfect! read more
