We came across this place in HK because after plenty of walking and drinks I was extremely hungry! As it was late Jay O called so many places and the kitchens were closed! This place a Belgium pub was open and the guy said arrive in 20mins you can place a food order. We rushed over in 18 minutes lol! Upon being seated the waitress says kitchen closed! My heart sank at that moment! I hadn't eaten dinner and was incredibly hungry. Jay O immediately said no I spoke to a gentleman who said if we got here in 20 mins we could order food. The manager then said yes they can I told them they could. That alone is the reason for 5 stars!! Lol luckily for us the food was amazing as well! Our first meal in Hong Kong ended up being Belgium food but amazing German food. Their gulden drak beef stew! Man so gooood! It came with a side of Belgium style mashed potatoes. We also ordered French fries and chicken wings. Fries were excellent and well seasoned. The chicken wings flavorful but yet extremely soggy. Jay O said it might've been because the oil had been turned off for some time so it was hot when they dropped them in. The selection of Belgium beers are amazing! Pages upon pages! Few drafts but plenty of bottles! The manager was very cool and talkative. After they were closing we headed to another bar he recommended and said he would meet with us to have a few drinks, he did and we had a great time! read more

Long list of beers, a bit sticky, chill atmosphere. The beers are quite large so if you have one with high alcohol content, well, stay classy folks! I had the misfortune of having beer spilled on me (don't worry-- not much beer was wasted in the process), and in my shock, the next moment I blinked, a bartender had already rushed to me with paper napkins and then told me he'd get me a towel ASAP. He did. That man is my savior. read more

Small bistro type restaurant, mostly high stool seating. About 10 people outside. Good selection of beer. But the food is average at best. The pork knuckle was cut open before cooking. This probably made it easier to crisp the outside which is nice. But the meat was dry and stringy. The gravy came in a small dish, a bit bland And more gravy would have been nice. Taste overall was bland. The beer choice is excellent. I had the Carulus Classic which is a dark beer. Really needed it for that dried pork. Overall quite expensive imho. I can do better in New York. read more

I love the beers samplers they have. Gave me a good round of tasting experience. However, the waiting service could be improved. The beers was poured for a while before it reached me. So the beers turned out a bit too warm. The food I ordered was at a fair price and seems to demonstrate a good Belgium traditions. However, the portion size was very small for the beef stew, which I would consider as a main dish. But it was filled full by some soggy fries that was saved by a good sauce. I think this place worth the visit for the many beers on draft. But I would not come here for a good meal. Maybe next time here I would come for a good drink with friends and snack a bit. read more

Great atmosphere to watch a sporting match. A wide selection of Belgium beer although I was mildly disappointed that the only white ale they had was Hoegaarden though different types (fruity etc). A good food selection including frites with mayo, decent cheeseboard, almond chicken is amazing though a little small, and the waffle was not bad, a little burnt and dry suggesting reheating of prepackaged variety and it took at least 20 min to come out. But whilst watching Wimbledon finals and cheering along with the crowd, can't complain. read more

Wow, what a beer list! de Belgie is my new favourite place to be on Elgin Street! "Do you want fries with that?" Is not a question you normally expect when entering a watering hole specialising in amber gold, but this isn't a happy meal - it's happy hour, beer + fries. Back to the reason I'm here, the beer list: Saison Dupont, St Paul's special and Leffe Royale to pick out just a few, there are over 150 Belgian beers on the menu. If you STILL can't find anything you like (picky much?) the bar rotates in two guest draft beers so there might be something new to take your fancy. Interior is comfortable with high tables and easy viewing of well-placed screens - when I was here they were showing billiards so I can't comment on the sport of preference. So Cary R and I were out all day don't our sight seeing and when we got back to our hotel, we wanted to find a local place for I go grab a bite. Unfortunately for us, it was a Monday night and it was a down pour. It was about 11pm and we called a bunch of places and all had the kitchen closed- we found this place and the kitchen was open and they had a wide selection of Belgium beers. We rushed over in an Uber and got there just in the nick of time. As the kitchen was closing at 11:30pm. We ordered the braised short ribs stew, rustic potato fries, and chicken wings. All very tasty, but they chicken wings were not crispy- no points off because they may have just turned off the fryer and then it was turned in when we got there. Now for the beer- if you like Belgium beer, this is the place they have a few on tap, but the overall selection including the bottles is over 120. We also met one of the bartenders, Jackson and he was a great guy who gave us a bunch of tips on where to hang in the area- we also had a few drinks at one of his fav bars later on that morning. read more

I was so chuffed to find out that Hong Kong has at least one bar devoted to the glorious art that is Belgian beer. That's all I need; I'm not greedy - one legit Belgian beer bar! A colleague took me here so I could experience the magic and it lived up to all my lofty expectations. In my experience, a Belgian beer beer is typically brooding - it needs to be dim, a little rough around the edges and very casual. And this spot is! But content is king and de België handsomely delivers with its 160+ Belgian beers. The discriminating beer drinker could argue that the draught list could be stronger - Leffe Blonde, Stella Artois, and Hoegaarden are too mainstream, too Belgian 'light' in my humble opinion - but the bottle menu is nothing short of wondrous. If beer doesn't make your palate sing, don't despair - cocktails, wine, and champagne are also available. And if you fancy a snack mid-drinking session, you can order a pile of frites or a traditional waffle to take the edge off those hunger pangs. A fun room to sit in for sure - I'll definitely be returning in the not-too-distant future! read more

cool place....any joint that has Westy 12's on the menu is auto 4 stars...but the fact they are about $80 US is a little steep. Lucky for my friends I visit Belgium often and am their go to beer dealer for much less. Free Frites before 8....and they are good! also 2-4-1 beers (limited selection) before 8 as well....daily specials for food. Yes they have a large selection of Belgians...and a fairly sizable menu...though I generally don't dig Belgian food...this wasn't bad.cool...low key place to hang. Will be back. read more

I'm not much of a beer drinker, in fact, I only drink it for the company. So when I got invited by a good friend to try out this place, I was hesitant at first but needed a good break anyway. de België is a people watcher's haven, and for those who prefer to down their drinks alfresco, there's 2 tables outside perfect for people watching and socializing. The façade sports an exposed brick wall (HK establishments took their time to catch up with the 1920's design), with quite a rowdy atmosphere yet convivial at the same time. There are more than 150(!) types of Belgian beers to sample here, ranging from draught to the ones with fruity notes. If you're like me who can't pick any from the menu because it's so extensive, ask their "Beer Celebrities" aka the beer experts for suggestions. They are truly knowledgeable and will take the time to explain, to a layman like me, how the beer tastes and even its history. Starting out strong, we tried the Gulden Draak. The complex taste of the beer had a very strong aroma of plums, followed by hints of cherry. At 10.5 ABV and a strong bitter aftertaste, it's definitely not for everyone. I would know, because it's definitely not for me. The staff also recommended we try Trappist beer, a brand of beer known to most beer connoisseurs as one of the best in the world. After perusing the extensive menu once again, we went with Orval. It was poured in a distinguishing beer glass with heavy foam surrounding the top. It tasted citric, quite bitter and with a sweet aftertaste. I didn't like beer before but once I got a taste of the Orval, I wanted to try the other Trappist beers. I will have to schedule a second trip to de België to sample their wonderful selection of Belgian beers. read more

I was craving mussels for days. I had gone to a French place the day before and wasn't satisfied. I decided to give this place a shot since they seemed to specialize in the Belgian version, which I prefer. It was super Mondays, and they offered 300g of mussels as complimentary if you spent more than $198. We ordered a flight of 6 beers for $189 and asked if we could still get the mussels. They server said yes and brought us frites as well. The mussels were small but the creamy broth was good and the portion was rather large. When the flight of beers came, the server dropped them off without mentioning what was what. The glasses were warm so the beer wasn't cold, but we decided not to complain. I asked the bartender which beers we were drinking, and his response was that he was giving us what was on the list. This confused us since there were twelve listed while we had six beers. I shrugged off the language barrier and returned to my mussels. Then the server brought us another flight of six beers...!?!!? When we asked why we were getting two flights since we had asked for one, she said that we ordered the mussel set, which came with two. We corrected her and told her that we had ordered one flight of beer and had requested the complimentary mussels. She brought back a bill over $600 when we thought we had spent less than $200. To resolve this issue, she took away the extra flight of beers and said that we still had to pay for the mussel, which was 500g instead of 300g. She said she would bring an extra 300g portion for us... Essentially, we were forced to order and pay for a 500g of mussels when we had wanted only a few bitesbefore heading to dinner. The server was nice but I thought that her mistake was poorly handled. I live close by but it's questionable whether I would return. read more

Great little pub in SoHo with a friendly atmosphere. An almost overwhelming selection of fine Belgian brews -- the Leffe Blonde has become my new favorite. Free fries, too, in the early evening. read more
