Before I give my feedback as to why one of my favorite restaurants is receiving a 1 Star review I wanted to ensure I say that my family and I have been long time customers of De Afghanan (Fremont, Livermore, and Tracy). Today, I called in to place a to go order however, before doing so I wanted to kindly give some feedback regarding some issues with orders in the past. The gentleman that answered the phone was normal at first but when I told him that I found dirt in the Bolani Gandana, twice, his entire attitude towards me changed. He said they thoroughly wash the Gandana two to three times, in a dismissive manner. I kindly repeated myself and said I understand but I just want to make sure you let your kitchen staff know. At this point, he said the same thing again "we wash it very well" and another gentleman chimes in and started repeating the same thing, very rudely. I said I understand however, I'm simply relaying my experience, to you, so you could maybe do something different to ensure that doesn't repeat. He then made matters worse by asking "So what can I do for you right now!!!?" At this point my tone, naturally, changed and I told him what you can do for me right now is "listen to me, not rudely interrupt me, apologize for the bad experience and practice good customer service." Although, my mom and I were craving Bolani, I did not go forward with my order as I could not believe that, not once, throughout that phone call did he try to make me feel better he only dismissed my concern. Afghanistan and the Afghan people are known to be the epitome of hospitable, that being one of our many valuable assets. My only request would be to ensure that is portrayed through each and every one of the employees at this establishment. Not to mention, my career is based in customer service so I would highly recommend a thorough customer service 101. read more

We ordered the triple kabob platter and the taste was inconsistent. The chicken was good, but the Chapli kabob was dry and seemed old/burnt. On top of that the quantity was not worth the price it was a disappointing buy. The bolani was good and fresh. Also, they serve wine and beer so if you are going for halal just keep that in mind. read more

Food is excellent and generous portions. We enjoyed the Bolani and mixed kebab. The chicken might be a little spicy for kids sensitive to spices. read more

I ask the waiter to give me a empty plate he told me we don't have empty plates in a bad way and the food prices are so expensive.

The food is delicious. I have tried other Afghan restaurants from SoCal to Norcal and this restaurants beats them all by far. I always order the beef tikka kabob with white rice. The "Chapli" kabob is delicious as well if you like a ground beef patty. Fresh bread and salad come with the plate to top it off. You won't have any regrets trying this restaurant out. read more

Definitely going back! We went in at approximately 4:20 pm on a Saturday. There was a family of four dining, other than that it was deserted. We were seated immediately by a friendly woman who seemed genuinely happy we were there. This alone is extremely rare! The food was delicious. We have been to the Livermore location several times. I like this location better. The staff is more friendly and the ambiance of the interior is more classy and less claustrophobic. Try the Afghan brown rice it's delicious!! I had the combo kabob which is usually beef tri tip and chicken. I paid $2 more and ordered tri tip and lamb. Both were flavorful and moist. He ordered the lamb shank. It was tasty and moist I give my review 4 stars because it was a little bland. It tasted good don't get me wrong, I just feel it could have had more flavor. read more

I love this place. I Always get something from the vegetarian menu as my meal and I take some potato Bolani for later when I get home. I like that they offer brown and white rice. The salad is always fresh and delicious. I also love the atmosphere here. Just wanted to say what a great restaurant this is! My bf and I were in Tracy to buy some furniture and we ordered food here before going back home to Ripon. The man at the front desk was very friendly and nice. We ordered the chaplee kabob, chicken kabob, bolani and Kadu (roasted squash) it was all very tasty and delicious! Love the moist and tender melt in your mouth chicken and beef combo. Their Bolani also comes in a 5-8 people serving. It's really huge. The down side of everything is it takes them 30 mins to prepare and serve. The best thing to do is to call and order ahead of time before going there. Other than that everything is pretty good. I came here with my family (table for 4) for dinner, and we had to seat ourselves. Not only that but even when we arrived we were serviced 20 mins later. We came in at 6:15pm and had our food served at 7:14, I'm writing this as we just got our food. I did a lot of the work at this restaurant and first tried the food in Livermore location. This place is awesome as well. Aziz the owner is an awesome person and a great cook. Food is on point and love the kabobs. Hope they do well in town. Some of these negative reviews are plain stupid. Go try the food and you'll love it! We went there the other day. Let me start of saying there Fremont location is really good like everyone says Here let's say it's hit or miss. ; 1. Boloni sucks. Allot of people have mentioned that , you would think you would change how you make it or make it like Fremont. They stack it with so many things , that not how is suppose to be made . Please change how you make it , I can make a petition from everyone telling me the same. 2. The teka is usually always really good , that is the main reason I go there and reason it got two stars . 3 price sucks ! If service , and they mention consistency , I wouldn't mind it that much. 4 . Please owner take note of this ; customer service EVERYTIME is terrible. It's either kids or someone that don't care. It always takes for ever just to take our order , even if it's dead , we have to flag them for refills, bread etc every time . Your a expensive restaurant , please act like one. I get McDonald service at 5 star prices. I'm not being picky , honestly hire professionals to serve , not the kid that need a high school job or a guy that looks like he hates his life. I am a De Afghana lover! The Fremont and Livermore location is amazing. This location is deceiving. Not only do they use the same sign to lure you in they also said it was the same as the differing location. The food was nothing like the real de Afghan in Livermore or Fremont. I knew right when we received our food the color of the chicken was different it was also burnt and dried. This location is not the real De Afghanan. Honestly, Meza Kabob down the street is better if looking for a local kabob spot. read more

Okay My second Review! I stopped going there for a while and then I heard there are new people working so I went back yesterday after Iftar and ordered food and food to go... After I was almost done with my food The worker Mirwais said they are out of chablee kabob and I asked if there is anything else left he said no anyways the kitchen is closed! Like wth????? Then come back and ask me right away if I wanted something else instead of lying to me just because he forgot to put my to go order in! Seriously I left my little bit food left for my husband because I felt bad that they forgot his food. I will never go back he has such a freakin additude on Top. I blame the owners too because I am sure there are many complains. Is he a family member they cant fire or wat the heck? At this point he could be the Brother he needs to be gone he obviously hates his JOB! It cant be so hard to find a new person. BTW he doesnt even know what brown rice or white rice!!!! read more
