Many of the super cute and colorful dresses and skirts that I wear are sourced from this store. It is sometimes a hit or miss but most 100% of the times I visit I leave with some new outfit, cheap and fun. That is what matters for me, I don't care about long lasting quality products. DD's is a great shop to look for cheap items to wear prior to going on vacation. There are all sorts of brands... brands that you've heard of and brands that you have to question... I come in a walk down the isles to see what they have to offer. It's clean, the layout is spacious and the staff are friendly. I see people come in here and fill up carts with all sort of things that they probably don't need but can't seem to pass up a good deal. I only buy what I need and it's usually black or white Shaka shirts that are good quality, don't fade, shrink and hold up during a vacation. No need to iron if you fold them neatly. I really haven't purchased anything else. They have a weird variety of shoes but have all available sizes. They also offer all sorts of snacks and drinks. I've never purchased any of them but I'm sure they're worth the risk lol. read more

I love DD's. About 3/4 of my clothes are from here and this store in particular is usually stocked. The prices are pretty good and they do have brand name items, however you need to be willing to look for them. It's essentially like a treasure hunt. They do have a ton of items, some snacks, and clothes, including scrubs. No matter your size, you will be able to find something here. Only downside is that due to COVID people can't try on clothes, but keep the tags on and you can return something if it doesn't fit. The staff is friendly and if they are rude, let's give people the benefit of the doubt and not take it personally. Things are kinda sucky for everyone right now. read more

So apparently you cannot trade out clothing items in the fitting room. I had prob about 10 shirts and 4 pairs of pants and a few dresses I wanted to try on. I needed to try on the work shirts with the dress slacks to see how it looks together. The lady wouldn't let me trade 4 items without putting back on my street clothes and bringing every single item back out. She said it's policy. Weird cause Ross is the same owner and they let me do it after I left here. In fact, I ALWAYS do this. It's a lot of work to put everything back on and go back out there. I told her if I have to go out on my regular clothes, rather then a switching out a few items, then I'm not shopping there and they could put all the stuff away that I intended to buy. Geeze. I seriously hate this store but i cant stop coming to it. So ill break it down for you. Initially as soon as you walk in you are greeted by a wannabe security gaurd/cop. Dude seriously i feel harassed when the first thing you see is loss prevention just scoping you out. Why cant they be in the office looking at security cámaras like every other department store. And then when you walk out empty handed they scope you out as if you walked in with no money but are walking out with some merch in your pants. The merchandise in here is cheap. I came here to make a return on a few items that didn't work out. And as a black woman, the first thing I was asked to do before I barley had two feet in the door was to bring my bag up to the front and not so much as a "hello", or "welcome". The male cashier proceeded to tell me "the store doesn't trust you". I couldn't believe my ears. All while the female manager never corrected him and she just kinda stood there. I had never shopped at DD's before (although the items purchased were at the OCEANSIDE location) but thought I had found a gem for blouses purchased for work. I will be returning the items that I left at home that worked out and will never think twice about this place. I was the next in line to check out and approached the counter behind a family at the check out stand, when the kid checker told me to move to another location 30 feet from where I was, With a bad back and problem hip, I did not wish to relocate. There was no one ahead of me as the checker, door greeter and lady store manager could see. Yet they refused to wait on me unless I went somewhere else to wait in line. For the most part this complain is for the employees at this location in Escondido. First off, all the good employees are gone. Now they hire bunch of rude and stuck up ones. One of the loss prevention was taking his job too serious and was force to come up to where me and my son were and told my son something when obviously my son is a three year just being a kid. Spend Over $ 100 at this store and then accidentally locked my car keys in the trunk . Didn't even have my cell phone . Went back inside the store asking to use their phone to contact one of my kids to come with my spare car key . To my surprise and shock the ( security ) guy informed me that they are not allowed to let anyone use their phone . They have good deals- but all the employees I have met- and it's been mostly cashiers- are extremely rude and have the worst attitude ever. I understand a job is just a job to some people, but my goodness I left there with a red face and I'm sure my temp was 105! The cashier kept barking orders at me like where to stand when to put my items down etc- and there was no one behind me- and someone still finishing paying!! Another time I went I was there literally 1 minute before they were due to open and the "manager" just chatted and shot the **** with the cashiers and rolled her eyes towards the annoying people waiting outside their door. I have never had a problem with DDs until now. I bought a birthday gift for someone, and got gift receipts for everything I gave her. She needed to exchange items, so when she went in, they said she couldn't exchange anything, but could buy it outright. She said no, she would just take a gift card until they had more selection, and they said No, they don't do that because I used a debit card. After being treated so rudely, the cashier said there wasn't anything she could do for her, and pushed her items onto the floor and called the next customer. I was last in this store several years ago. I decided to give it another shot. When I arrived I was greeted by security. He welcomed me to D.D.'s. A good start to my shopping experience. I picked out a few items totaling $100.00 plus dollars and proceeded to stand in line 20 plus minutes. There was one agent checking people out. While waiting in line there was a gentleman I assume was the manager barking orders at staff from across the room about straightening out the merchandise on the back wall etc... After waiting an extended period of time he turned around to me and said "What line are you in' ?"... "Purchase or Return ?". Like he was barking a command to his staff. I answered purchase. He said wait at that register and pointed. I asked how long the wait would be. He answered "We don't open a register unless there are three or more people waiting. All said in a very arrogant, snotty tone. I then told him he had cost himself a sale and a customer. I left my cart and the merchandise and left your store. I will inform all my friends and family of my experience. Although you have lost my business, maybe you will take my poor experience to heart and moving forward will expect more from your people. This place is off the wall, I know someone that had applied and they gave the job to him and then they did a background check and mind you nothing was held back from them. They had a background girl named Jenny send him a email and he called her back and she rapped him over and over again and again, she wanted to know how many shits he took a and how many times he blinked his eyes. Now here's the story for you all to judge. 2002 graduated from nursing school. 2003 had gastric by pass and got hook on pain meds 2004 Consumer affairs pulls him into off since he was stealing pain meds and he didn't even give them a chance to investigate he just admitted it. ( Yeah he's not a good criminal) the judge decide to make an example out of him since it was a back woods little hole in the earth called Yuba City so he put him in jail for 6 month but the judge said if you find a recovery program for 2 years then I'll let you go to that. There are no recovery program for 2 year and the only way he could go to one was if he relapsed, oh year forgot to tell you that part, he was in N/A and wasn't going to give up his clean time just so he could stay out of jail, he did his time and then was on probation and he did that also and paid his fines. But here's the good part he's been out of jail since 2004 in 2007 he expunged his record and has never and I mean never been in trouble since. He's even working now with senior in there home and there hasn't been a problem at all. As a matter of fact they love him. So Now you all can see what a bad store this is. They enjoy rapping someone over and over for something that is so long ago. Good job DD Discount. I understand the no eating/drinking policy. The reason I am upset is that I took my kids drinks away closed them up and was holding them so nobody would drink. I was denied access to the store by the loss prevention idiots. I walked out and noticed 3 strollers with water cups and juice walking in and he allwed them in. Ok. I go in to buy a set of earbuds. The consumer electronics end cap is 50 feet from the front register. There is THREE DD'S employees all right in the front of the store. The "loss prevention" guy is situated in front of a "loss prevention" monitor table facing directly in front of the end cap. There is maybe two customers in line. I walk in with my small shoulder bag (with my iPad,work stuff.etc)All 3 of these gentlemen inform me that i need to LEAVE MY BAG at the front counter. I say oh im just getting a pair of earbuds and im done. Oh NO SIR...ITS OUR POLICY!!! So apparently the 55+ cameras feeding this guys monitor station and the "common sense" of the 3 sales associates was not working that day....so i give them my bag and continue...OH WAIT SIR YOU NEED A TICKET! I have only been there a few times but it's really hit or miss. The store is often times unorganized and gets torn apart by customers. However, there are some hidden gems every so often. Customer service isn't really a stongpoint, I don't think I've ever been asked if I needed help, and the only times I've asked for assistance from and employee they weren't sure if they had a certain product that I was looking for. read more

These people have the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. First, you enter and they all say "Hello, welcome to DDs". They all say this with no emotion, no concern and no feeling. Then, you go thru all the aisles and all the stuff there are the rejects from the Ross stores. We just a few things and head to the cashier (if you can call them that) She is very rude and continues to chit chat with her co workers that are standing near the entrance by the bags. Personal things about their co workers. Then, another employee looking at the shoe rack pulls out a pair of shoes and proceeds to loudly say "These are such ugly shoes". While we are standing there waiting for our items to be rung up, the cashier asks my daughter to move away from the register. For what? Maybe my daughter was in the way of her chatting with her co workers. Then, after it is all rung up she tells me to grab my receipt. If she is worried about working a little bit extra...Fear not useless employees....They have self serve registers. Seems like your days of not working the register are numbered. read more
