The menu is inspiring but the product doesn't deliver. Shrimp quesadillas, bland. Tex-mex omelette....not as descibed, chorizo should be inside, avocado nowhere to be found. I'm in town visiting my family and my step-mom and I decided to venture outside of our small collection of eateries. I usually love diners so I was very interested in trying this new one she mentioned. I immediately liked the atmosphere- and when I read the background story on the cover of the menu I liked it even more. And the food- yum! It was not only displayed beautifully- it was scrumptious! I am very happy that DD's opened at the lication of the old diner. We trued it yesterday for the first time and came back today. The service is efficient, the people are very nice, the food is superb. The tomato cream soup is the best I've had in years, the pulled pork quesadilla inventive and just perfect. Good calamari appetizer offset by stale tater tots and a mac-n-cheese so obviously made from powdered it almost made us sneeze.

Just returned from a wonderful lunch at DD's diner in Ossining. As a diner lover, I can be rather choosy. This one really rates. I had a wonderful, large Chicken Caesar salad that was out of this world. It was a large portion which I barely finished. My friends had various omelettes and sandwiches, all of which looked very appetizing. Service was courteous and excellent. I would highly recommend this place. read more

You get what you expect plus more. On some occasions, we've gotten free popcorn. Also, the music selection is stellar. There was one night when they played Jazz at a good volume. Decor: Simple yet clean and bright. Rear seating areas has nice view of nature toward Hudson. It would be good for a small party. Service: Friendly and accommodating. Server was patient and went back to kitchen to follow up on a question about ingredients (allergy). Food: Delicious, fresh, twist of chef's originality on classic diner food. I had the French Onion Soup (full-bodied, not too sweet); Cranberry Chicken Salad with a side of onion rings. Filling-to-bread ratio could have been more generous but overall a superior sandwich. Onion rings were crisp and not greasy. Don't bother with ketchup- they taste great just the way he kitchen makes them. I would come back. I hope this place overthrows the restaurant karma of the previous diners at this location. This place is hands-down better than he other area diners. read more

We went within a week of opening, for breakfast, and had a very good experience. The menu had a mix of diner staples and more creative fare. Kids had the variety menu (3 different pancake styles) and S'mores pancakes; the adults had omelets from their specialty menu selection. Service was just fine, beverages came quickly and were topped off, and the seating was comfortable. We'll definitely be back, and hope to try out their lunch menu, which looked really appealuing as well. read more

I've been back to DD's diner now several times since they've opened and if I could some DD's up in one word it would be inconsistent . At times our experience there has been good and then other times really just not satisfactory. A lot has to do with the time and day that you go there and who happens to be the waitstaff and if there is an adult manager present. I am really just giving them three stars but 2 1/2 would be more appropriate. As a local diner I really want them to succeed but it will probably be a while before I return. read more

I don't know what else to say. I tried this place twice and the bit about charging for a slice of raw onion on a turkey burger really killed it. My friends in the area who wanted to take me out suggested we go there so I thought since it has been a while perhaps it has gotten better. Quite the contrary it's worse. I asked about the onion and was told they do still charge extra only this time the waiter was NASTY about it. He said "we have every right to charge whatever we want" to which I replied "yes you do but in my entire life of over sixty years I have NEVER had a diner charge for one slice of raw onion on a burger. His response really threw a wrench into the evening: "if you don't like it you can go somewhere else." Apparently he has never read the book "How to win friends and influence people." After that I refused to order anything and had water with lemon. Fortunately I didn't need to make an excuse to my friends. I had a vocal lesson right after so all I had to say is I don't want to sing on a full stomach and that was that. DD and I are done forever. I'd starve before I would ever go there again. read more

My test of a diner is a simple roast turkey on rye bread. If the meat is unrecognizable as turkey and is in fact BH sodium-injected "meat" you might be in my neighborhood but I will never come back. If you don't have rye bread that tastes like rye, same thing. And if your idea of a portion is less than 3 oz of protein, I've given you a chance. That sums up my one visit when DD opened. read more

This was our second time eating here, and I'm afraid it was mediocre at best. One of us ordered one of the mac 'n' cheese dishes, and the cheese sauce was watery and bland. Two of us ordered the 'chicken fried meatloaf' which was nothing more than meatloaf on a bun. Don't ever order this loser! The fourth ordered a ravioli dish which was the best of the lot. This was our first time here on our trip to Tarrytown, Once we tasted the food here, and the service was wonderful we decided to come back 2 more times. The hostess was very nice, and so were the waiters. Wish we had discovered this at the beginning of our trip because we would have visited this diner more times. If you like a spinach omelette that's tasteless, rubbery, 1/16" thick, lukewarm and looks like Fisher Price food, this is the place for you. The slab of hash browns was no better.. a taste the size of my thumbnail was all I needed. After sharing our polite complaints with the manager, he was less than helpful by offering us 10% off the meal.. a whopping $1.60 discount! How about 'can I offer you something else?' Oh, and how about tossing a strawberry on the plate as garnish? The only reason I gave one star is for the lovely waitress. I don't do this very often, but I have to say that this was the worst experience I've had in a long time. Service was awful, never got my food. The waiter brought all the rest of the table's food and when I went to the front the manager was no where to be found. The waiter asked what was wrong, and when I told him I never received the food, he was dumbfounded. I told him i didn't want it anymore. The manager finally came over and asked what was wrong, and when I told her she had nothing to say. The icing on the cake was when the bill still included my meal. Went twice this past weekend. Liked breakfast so much we wanted to try dinner the next day. Great remodel of the old diner; nice, upscale atmosphere. Service was very friendly, professional and attentive. All in all thrilled to have them in the area and will be a regular - only minor complaints: a bit pricey; burger was nicely cooked but bun was big and bready; cole slaw was good but the purple color was unappetizing. read more

Only went once. Got an omelette and pancakes. Food was good however definitely overpriced. I saw a vegetable omelette on the menu (which was the same price as 2 other omelette a with multiple ingredients) and ordered it and the waitress told me that i had the choice of one vegetable plus one cheese..doesn't sound like a vegetable omelette to me! Every other vegetable to add was an extra dollar. I stuck with one of the two omelette options on the menu bc I was not about to pay $15 for an omelet. Seems a little ridiculous to me. I'd go again to try some other menu options though but would stay away from omelette a (which is my fave). The Italian omelette with pesto was good though! read more

I had breakfast here and it was amazing. Great menu with something for everyone. I ate the turtle pancakes which had chocolate chips, pecans and Carmel.... They were delicious. Stopped here for breakfast on Labor Day. We needed to get to a house tour and the food came out super fast(we made the manager aware of our time constraint). I had a simple toasted homemade blueberry muffin which was yummy and moist... Perfectly toasted. My husband had the corned beef hash w toast, eggs and potatoes and he said they were superb! His compliments on food are not easily given and when given are well deserved. The manager was very attentive, friendly and checked on us often...refilling coffee and making sure we would make our tour time. Great experience! I highly recommend it !
