Later on in the day, an even more convenient option was suggested - to simply take a couple photos of the damage and email it over to them. Simple! They determined they'd be able to make the repair, by melting and reshaping some of the plastic while guiding everything back into place, and I was so delighted that I didn't even ask for an estimate. Honestly as far as I was concerned, I would be happy if it came in under $500. The total for this repair? A mere $150! While the car dealer salesman tried to make me feel like I was crazy to take it out for an independent review, all the staff in this shop agreed with me and assured me I did the right thing. Sales people want the sale. It is the responsibility of the consumer to advocate for themselves and get it reviewed by someone with nothing to gain or lose by telling the truth. After completing his inspection the mechanic came out to talk to me and ask me questions and make sure I was getting the right warrantys and guarantees when buying the vehicle. I purchased my vehicle with the ability to lay my head down at night knowing I did everything I could to advocate for myself and ensure I wasn't buying a lemon. I asked if I could just bring the tire in (take it off his car and drop in my trunk). The girl on the phone went to ask if that would be OK. She told me to bring the tire/wheel in and the store manager would look at it. We got there and the service guy went out to get the boss. He was actually in the shop doing an alignment (must be a "working manager") , and said he would check the tire as soon as he was finished. About 20 minutes later he came out, grabbed the tire, and checked out the leak. He found a very small leak, showed us the bubbles coming out , patched it, balanced it, and we were out of there, after being there around 50 minutes total. They went out of their way on a very busy Saturday to help my dad out, and I'm (and especially my dad) very grateful for the customer service. I will be going there the next time I need tires. The service manager was also very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable.
