I popped across the street for a quick coffee, and an hour later they called me, having completed the job. Easy in, easy out. They checked the tire, told me it was "ruined" and gave me a quote for a new tires ranging from $179.14 to $358. The person who quoted me told me my tire had already been patched 3x and it was illegal to patch the tire again. (This is untrue, which I know because I take care of my own car - and it is NOT against the law.) I have the printed quote. My intuition told me this was not correct and I requested they put the tire back on so I could go elsewhere. They told me they would only give me a 'loaner tire' because it was unsafe to put my tire back on. I refused and had to go into the service area and demand the original tire back. Once it was back on, I drove down the street to another place that looked at the tire, said it lost a few pounds of air, filled it, and I was on my way in 10 min. The tire has been 100% fine since - it is now more than a month later. During this timeframe I've also been to the dealership for a scheduled maintenance and they found nothing wrong with the tire. My car is less than 3 yrs old. It's so disheartening to see businesses try to take advantage of customers who they assume don't know any better. Please do not go here and have them take your money dishonestly! I have been going to Davis Bros Tires on and off for years and recommended them to others. Unfortunately I will never go again after this terrible experience. UPDATE based on below response: to be clear, the tire in question had no prior damage and has never been patched before. I called the shop to let them know what happened, and instead of any concern or willingness to look into it, I was told patches have "no warranty" and that they don't give refunds. The tone was dismissive, and I was told "come on man, listen to what you're saying," which was surprising given the safety aspect of what happened. For clarity: a tire that is unsafe to repair should not be patched after an inspection, and a tire that is safe to repair should not suffer a catastrophic failure immediately afterward. Either way, this was not handled responsibly. I'm documenting everything, but wanted to leave an honest account in the meantime so others are aware. The free wheel balancing was okay, but the ride was a but bit rough, especially at high speeds. The 4 wheel alignment was also okay because I saw the tech person pull it out of the stall and parked the car. He did not do a test drive. My Bimmer drove okay, but it didn't track. So I wasn't confident that the wheel alignment was properly done. I recently remedied the concerns by having the 4 wheels rebalanced and had a 4 wheel precision alignment done at another shop. Now my Bimmer tracks and rides really smooth... For tires purchase, this place is great.. But for tire services, from my experience, I would recommend to go somewhere else...

They said they could and so I eventually brought it down. They did the alignment, and they did tell me "they did the best they could" and sent me on my way. The car just wasn't right. After some investigating on my part, I found that the shock tower was cracked and was messing with the upper control arm, making it difficult/impossible to align correctly. Was this their fault? Absolutely not. The car was in a wreck in the 80s (which I also shared with them) so I knew there were risks. However, I do feel that they saw this (given that the car was on the lift and in their face) and said nothing. Is it their responsibility to tell me? Also no.. but the fact that they charged me for the alignment, just said "we did our best" and sent me on my way seems a bit shady to me. A simple, "hey, we saw this crack and it's gonna give you issues in the near future" wouldn't have only been appreciated, but I also feel like it would've been the right thing to do.

I registered for service and had to wait 15 minutes to get someone to look at the car. The nice gentleman that came to us is named Antonio. Looked at all the tires and assessed the leaking tire. It was a screw in between the 2nd and 3rd tread so it really was only a patch job. But because our tires looked old, there was a concern that it may not be "repairable" and might necessitate a replacement so I was told to choose a tire in case it came to that. I told him I'm sure it's just a patch job but I chose one cause I didn't have a choice. Because of liability, if the tire was deemed unsafe they will not put it back on and the replacement becomes a must. I also asked to have air put in our spare because the TPMS was lit on the dash prior to the leaking tire. He told us it would about 2 hours before they could get to work on our car but it wouldn't take long once they got to it. My son was getting Hangry so I had to find somewhere he could get something to eat. After a while I got worried cause I haven't received a call and it was approaching 2 hours already so we headed back. When I got to the car I was surprised to see that a new tire was installed on the car without consulting with me. I went back in line at the counter and Antonio explained that something happened during the removal of the tire and it got damaged. Because it was their fault, they replaced the tire at no cost to me. I thought I still had some service charges for looking at our spare but he said they took care of that as well at no cost to me. Talk about taking accountability on behalf of the customer. Antonio was very cordial and professional about the whole thing. I really appreciate the service quality I received that when the time comes to replace 4 tires, we will get it from Antonio. Thank you so much!
