Unlike other quotes where it was "yes" to everything (inevitably blowing the budget away), he helped us understand the value of some choices over others (e.g. cement vs pavers). Since this type of project was unfamiliar to us and we weren't certain on details beyond some high level things, he was able to take our suggestions and help us understand the final results. He was also flexible with giving us a few quotes as well as understanding what aspects could be split out to future projects. Abel (the foreman) and his crew came out and were PHENOMENAL. They were thorough and professional. They went above and beyond regularly. I joked with him on the last day that I'll be seeing him soon when we're ready for the front yard to be updated. I can't recommend them highly enough.

The crew was professional, paid attention to the details, and did a very good job with the cleanup afterward. The pricing was also a major plus. We received a quote from Black Diamond that was more than 50% higher. Black Diamond certainly does a lot more marketing, but we didn't see any difference in the proposed work to justify paying that much more. The pavers and borders came out great, and the finished work has made a noticeable difference to the front of our house. If you're getting quotes for a paver project, I'd definitely recommend getting a quote from them. Good quality work, reasonable pricing, finished ahead of schedule, and no mess left behind.

Gerardo and his team were an absolute joy to work with from start to finish and I could not be…read morehappier with the quality and beauty of the result! My job was large and timing was complex but he took it all in stride and showed the value of experience! I own a corner lot and needed front and two side fences constructed at 80 ft lengths on both sides. I wanted to achieve the beautiful design of horizontal slats but not break the bank doing so. Gerardo consulted me patiently and was incredibly flexible in his design allowing us to get ultimate privacy of 7' overlapping boards between my neighbor, slats in front, and vertical board with 1/2" gaps on the street side. So, what made Gerardo a cut above the rest? His communication, dedication to quality, and ability to get things done on a tight schedule while still being flexible enough to quickly deal with unforeseen issues. For example. I had to delay the project three times due to roadblocks from other home remodel inspections. I always gave him a few weeks notice but nonetheless he was always gracious with the requests. Another example: I made an assumption about the neighbor wanting to terminate their front/side fence flush with the front of their home (I mean who doesn't want more private yard space???) Well, you know what they say about assuming... when the neighbor asked to move the fence segment back Gerardo did not hesitate to give a fair price for the additional labor and execute still within the original timeline (an amazingly swift 4 days). In addition to his flexibly, his judgement was impeccable! Every recommendation he made about the design, from heights, to following the sidewalk curve, to whom he subcontracted for cement work on my pavers all turned out perfectly! Lastly, the quality of his work is truly next level! The tolerances, grading, levels, spacing show a dedication to his craft that is truly rare! We have a relatively challenging property with grades falling away from the home on each side and he made everything look effortless! I'm very good at finding issues with services and products (it's actually my profession) but in the case of Gerardo and Authentic construction I really have nothing to complain about... even billing and invoice processing (paperwork), which can be a sticking point with other contractors, was completely smooth and effortless (BTW, lo siento regarding the late materials deposit!) Working with Augustin 1) At my request he quickly produced a simple sketch so I could visualize the stone patio layout and walkway (basically the "hardscaping") 2) He listened carefully & offered solutions for consideration (sometimes at different price points so you can decide what is best for you) 3) His pricing is not the lowest but I believe the overall value of his services was well worth it. He takes great pride in his work and does not nickel and dime you. 4) Best way to work with him is to give clear instructions upfront and then get out of the way of his crew. 5) Augustin likes "progressive payments". I did not find that the speed of his work slowed down on account of my paying as we go. Examples of creative solutions that I did not expect going into the project 1) Got rid of all of my ugly above ground sprinklers valves with an inground installation 2) Built custom sideyard gates to incorporate artwork I provided.
