When we moved into our house, we had them a bunch of things done -- an EV charger, a new electrical panel, new GFI installation, and a ceiling fan. A ceiling fan was particularly challenging as it's a high ceiling and the attic access was not easy, but they found a way! We just had them over for another series of electrical work, and realized that the last visit was over three years ago. The same crew (Craig and Sean), and they remembered us, all good sign. They are always on time (and if not, they will let you know), pleasant, accurate, honest, great communication, and the quality of work is excellent. Long story involving plumbing problems and mold and a torn up kitchen and a person [that would be me] who had too many kitchen appliances plugged into the living room and boom. Dead appliances. My experience is 1+ years ago. I would never hire this company again. I did so because of their excellent reviews on Yelp. First, I did not expect three men to show up for an installation job of a ceiling fan, an outdoor light, and two outdoor outlets. They walked around my house like they owned the place and I couldn't keep track of where they were. Second, two of the three had long beards and reeked of alcohol and cigarettes. They weren't drunk, it just seeped through their pores in a way they couldn't help. I am extremely sensitive to cigarette odors and I was repulsed to say the least. When I told them I was going to turn off the circuits to the places they were working, I was told not to bother. Third, the head guy "forgot" I asked for the outdoor outlets installation when I booked the job and he did not have any on his truck. He had to drive 15 miles to a Home Depot while his men stood outside smoking. Fourth, when I asked him about the safety of an outlet that was brown from sparking he said, "Sure, no problem, as long as it works." A year later when I replaced the outdoor light I discovered that the worker did not connect the ground wires. The price was not cheap. It took all of 15 minutes to install an outdoor outlet since it hooked into an existing indoor outlet. I think this company makes money by hustling to get everything done as fast as possible, and then off to their next job. The owner doesn't consider what certain customers might want in an electrician (one worker, non-alcoholic with a neat appearance, discuss the work order before getting started, and always, always, put safety first). read more

We hired them to replace our current electrical panel and install a new 200amp panel. We have nothing but positive things to say about their service. They were polite, easy to deal with and got the job done right. Not only that they went above and beyond. My husband was able to ask them a few simple questions about wiring inside the house so we could fix the outlets. Also, my husband told the workers that he would be heading to Home Depot to pick up an electrical box. One of them offered to pick it up for us because they already had someone at the store. I find that lately customer service is lacking because construction companies don't need more business but this company was amazing. Their customer service is spot on. Called for help with a fixture that would not turn on - we had installed a new one and did everything we could. Called them and he came the next day. Very nice and it took him 2 minutes to diagnose the problem and replace an incorrectly installed switch (by previous home owner). Spend a total of 12 minutes doing repair. I felt a little dumb but HE is the expert. He had given me a quote before he arrived for the call - so I knew the price ahead of time. When you call him, ask for his advice of things you can do on your own - he will help as much as he can but again, for safety, pay the price for the expert - not just a handyman. read more

I replaced a GFI outlet in my home, and it wouldn't work. I am fairly handy and take care of things myself if I can, but I have learned my lesson with electrical. I do not enjoy shocking the living hell out of myself and I don't want to burn my house down, so if my rudimentary attempts don't work when it comes to electrical, I call a professional. I didn't use Yelp, but I looked up electricians in my area via a web search. I called DC Electrical and I spoke with Craig (I believe) who tried to talk me through checking the outlet in case it was something small, so I wouldn't have to spend the money for him to come out. Since electrical is not one of my strongest suits, I wanted him to come out and fix it and we also wanted some estimates for other projects. Craig tried to save me the money, but I wasn't having it. Came out the next day and it took him 2 minutes to repair it, which happened to be exactly the problem that he told me it could be on the phone. I received an appointment reminder by email and the invoice by email, and then used PayPal so payment was quick and easy. Even got a military discount. Because of concrete floors in my condo, I couldn't install the canned light. We have used D.C. Electrical for over 10 years for all our electrical needs. About 10 years ago, they replaced our main panel to upgrade to 200 amp service. They have always been reliable, on time, with great service. Most of all, they are really honest. I called Craig this morning because I thought a circuit breaker had gone bad. He had me take a photo of it, and after I texted it to him, he was able to call back and direct me to a sub-panel breaker that had tripped. One flip of the switch and I was back in business. We had an issue with some electrical in our landscape lighting that was not easy fix for us, so we called Craig. Craig and his team showed up on time and ready to work. I had them install three timer light switches and two over head lights wired to the light switch on the wall in bedrooms that didn't have any overhead lights to begin with. It took a little less than two hours. Everyone was polite, answered all my questions, and cleaned up after the fact. Craig showed great attention to details. As they were leaving it noticed a crack in the light switch over that hadn't been there when they started and he made sure it was replaced. Among other things, they have installed an electrical panel and heated floor controls (and replaced them when they wore out), capped an attic fan and installed a security light. When I call, Craig responds quickly, I get an appointment in just a few days (or sooner) and they are here usually 5-10 minutes early. They do the work quickly and neatly and most importantly, correctly. I have never had a problem with any of their work, although I can't say the same for the heated floor controls!
