Door to door sales people are borderline harassing the neighborhood. They came 3 times in one week. After declining their service, the guy asked if he can come inside to write stuff down. That is not appropriate. Neighbors talk and we share security footage. The sales pitch isn't a good deal. The cameras are advertised for free but it isn't free. The phone tree is ridiculous and will hang up on you every chance that it can and then when you do speak with someone they put you on long hold and transfers and you start completely over with the next one. DO NOT USE VIVINT!!! Do not use Vivint for home security system. The customer service is horrible and the devices they use malfunction frequently. They refuse to come to your house and fix their devices. Instead, they are perfectly fine with you troubleshooting the devices for hours. I literally was troubleshooting with them over the phone for four hours trying to get my doorbell camera to work. It still doesn't work to this day. I pleaded with them to send someone out to fix the problem. They finally said they would have someone call to schedule an appointment. No return call. I'm still without a doorbell camera. There has to be a standard in business and in-home wiring installation, and this should be an industry wide benchmark which includes an alarm system that is functional, discreet, and made 100% operational for the business or homeowner. That being stated, it is absolutely essential that alarm wiring should not in a installation be vulgar and have wiring exposed and a detriment to the naked eye. I recently ate a a fine restaurant in Reno, NV, great food and staff, but a recent alarm and camera installation by a local Vivint Alarm installation at the restaurant induced me to compose my thoughts. At the front door, the main power feed (Albright orange power cord) for the alarm control was plugged into 110v power and literally strewn up into the ceiling where customers couldn't miss the dangling "vine." Secondly, an outside door camera had a white IW (inside wire) stapled over the Men's bathroom doorway and around to a power outlet in the hallway. The white wire clashed with the new faux wall paint. I personally would have never let the installer leave after such an insult. An experienced installer would would have seen a blank wall covering inches away from the power outlet would have been the only choice for that zone. Finally, both restaurant employees and owner really had little knowledge of how the Vivint alarm system operated. This negligence is perhaps the nexus of todays vision of customer service and satisfaction. Accountability and Customer Service must be the focus of ANY business relationship. read more

Vivint - Security Systems Near Me

I am currently in the process of looking to switch to another company! When first we got Vivant, it was a different name at that time, we were delighted. The price was right, the technicians were efficient and professional, the system itself was awesome. Then things changed rather recently in the last year or so. The price increases, the technician not so wonderful, and each month the amount they take out changes and that means it increases for unknown reasons until you call them for an explanation. Not happy to have to call them each and every month about a billing issue. In fairness, the actual system is still awesome. If you do have an alarm for any reason, the response is immediate and the staff you deal with are truly wonderful, no complaints there. Calling billing is very frustrating, they do not respect your loyalty and seem to be not prepared to keep your business. So disapppointing. read more

Was unhappy with my decision to do business with Vivant from the start. Was promised by the representative that came to my door, that he would fix all the issues ( way too long of a list to show here). Told me to give him 30 days to clear up all the problems. Then the police started showing up at my house saying they got alerted by our alarm. Then started getting bills from the city for too many false alarms. Vivant refused to pay those bills despite admitting it was the fault of their system. Tried to cancel the subscription, but was told I had gone past the 30 day grace period for cancellation. I waited 42 months to cancel. When I reached the end of the 42 months, they would not cancel my subscription. I sold my home and bought another, and they are still charging me and have sent me to collections. Horrible company. read more

Now after finally being cancelled, I am getting text message to what me to call so they can make me happy! And then another text to sign me back up at a lower rate! Can you believe that. Putting temper aside, the product I had, although over 5 years old, worked as designed, it wasn't defective, it did it's job and did it well. My wife and I didn't like the way it kept modifying the temperature and constant phone text that says, "It looks like everybody is away, your temper...... etc.etc.". None stop information that is not from my age bracket, so we did not like the kind of service it offered. The problem was the LIES and delays and up sell that never stops, they promise the world, then LIE to you hoping to keep you on their payment plan sucking every green dollar out of you for as long as they can. We just installed Vivint on our home. Dennis could not have been kinder. He was beyond patient with me. I can barely operate my cell phone, let alone an alarm system. He spoke in easy to understand terminology and assured me that I was going to be awesome at using the system. A very nice, kind person to have in my home. I would wholeheartedly recommend Vivint for your security needs. I also want to note that John was present for the installation of the system. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY! If I could give a negative star it would be at negative 50! This has got to be the worst company around and now I know why there are such awful reviews, which I wish I would've seen earlier. I sold my home in January of this year, contacted Vivent and explained the situation. We didn't expect to sell our home in five days so that landed my family staying with my mother until we found a new place. I was told over the phone I could either (as I was in contract still) - cancel the service and buyout the equipment for $625.00 - Pay $129 to have someone disconnect everything and another $129 to take to the new house and install everything we had - OR I could remove the sensors myself pay nothing and take it to the new house leaving the panel, doorbell and thermostat. With free installation at new home (my mothers) and a new panel, doorbell and thermostat. Obviously we took the third option. Set up installation and the guy shows up (which very nice guy - works independently surprise surprise). He tells us "Umm you're missing pieces I can't use those sensors they are too old, as well the order does not say free panel, thermostat or doorbell." He immediately asked if I was told over the phone to take the sensors off myself, I said yes and he explains he is tired of this company doing this to people as there are pieces that you have to have a proper tool for in order to remove it from BETWEEN the window panes. He can however sell me a new system for $4,000 but I will be locked in. I asked him to go ahead and leave and I will call the company. Here we are in April almost May - I am STILL being charged monthly service of almost $50 because when I called I have spoken to 7 yes SEVEN people that cannot apparently seem to locate this mystery phone call I had with the guy to told me to take the sensors. I explained I wouldn't have done that if I knew all of the information. I am still being charged a monthly service even though I finally got confirmation of someone cancelling the account last month and I am still being charged for equipment that I no longer own, can use, nor have the house it is attached to. I can't get anyone to help, they all place you on hold repeatedly for almost an hour at times and no one (even though all calls are recorded) can find the info. they don't update the accounts with notes even though they all guarantee they do. They don't know their a$$ form their elbow at this point. I will be close my bank account - however I am out three months payment and they have my name attached to an actual loan for this equipment and I don't want that screwing up my credit. I've had this alarm system for about 2 years now. I have the doorbell camera and it rarely works. When I called to tell them about it, the technical support just sends a signal to the system to show the door bell camera does not work. When I ask them to send a technician out to fix it I was told I'd have to pay $50 to fix their equipment. I can get the fee waived if I do a series of tests while I'm at home. I've already done the tests before and they don't work. Do not use this company. I had ADT in a previous house and I wish I went them with. They were professional and their equipment consistently worked. Vivint will also make you sign a very long contract so you can't get out of their services without paying out the remaining balance. read more

Absolutely horrible company to have come into your home. The representatives they sent out had no idea what they were doing. Nonetheless the representative entered the home before being invited in, went straight to our old alarm system, pulled out a chair from our dining room table and sat down. VERY unprofessional. He had no idea how to properly hang a camera or install the alarm system. When wiring our outside camera to an outlet he drilled holes into our walls inside the house. Attempted to cover it with spackle, didn't work. So now we have a hole in our wall they refused to fix. We have called vivint to get someone to come out to take out the equipment and properly fix our home, but every time they hang up on us. They used to be known as apex. Here's an update on my experience with this company. First of all, it seems that no company in this particular business seems to be winning over it's clients. Even our local companies have horrible ratings. So, there must be something going on with this industry. They were willing to hold up to their two week cancellation policy. Though several people I talked with seem to get different versions of the companies policy. One said they had a 60 day, another said 3 day. We were given two weeks, so they need to get this straight. That's why the two stars. Also, I've checked out the kind of systems you can buy at a home video/stereo store and they go way beyond the "free" system you get here. Better off having that with a warranty then a bunch of techs coming in and out of your house all the time. The idea of having a home security system is sound, but the high pressure scare tactic sales, and on going tech problems keep me from ever considering this ever again. This has been the worst services I have ever received. The service doesn't work have the time - they said that they needed to charge me to bring a tech out. Then I finally get to cancel after 5 YEARS and they charge me anyways. I call and give them the number that is associated with my account and they hang up on me. I tell this to the lady that I got this time and she asked for the number then proceeded to explain to me that it has to be 30 days from the email I sent for the cancellation. I tell her, wait a minute your customer service guy told me as long as I emailed it before the date of my contract it was a done deal. The "manager" said "Well, he was customer service not the cancellation department". Really? Shouldn't all employees have the same knowledge. This company policies are there to rip you off. They need to train their employees need better. I told her that I want this in writing and she said no. It gets better - she then offers me a deal to keep their sh*t service of $29.99 a month. THEY did not honor my contract as written, didn't complete the installation as agreed to, failed to return after promises of fixing the problem (they didn't), and when I offered to do either mediation or small claims court, they didn't reply. Turned it over to a collection agency (never had bad credit in my life), who is as bad as Vivint and has a problem with the truth. Any offer to settle this account went unheeded or they inflated the amount they felt was due. Fortunately, the credit ding did not affect any ability to make purchases. A guy knocked on my door at 8:30 pm saying he was from Vivint. He showed me what he said was a company badge. I didn't open the screen door to get a close look. He looked like he was casing the joint and was entering information into an iPad. He seemed a little shady, so I sent him on his away in a not very nice manner. Heads up get very clear on what is included in your package so you dont get confused and disappointed when the install comes. This also helps the company send a clear work order to the installation guy. Now Im waiting to get the rest of the install complete, they dont know when they can schedule the follow up time yet as they are very busy. I sensed the service guy was running late and rushed through the install, and getting frustrated. Anyway I did get the first month free due to the hick-up. Hope the rest runs smooth. read more

This company is horrible on so many levels that I wish I could give negative stars! I am detailing this review because Vivint has a great sales pitch but in the end they are a complete scam! - When there are errors on our monitor pad or our door locks do not lock/unlock with arming and disarming we call the "help" line only to be hung up on or having a person assist us that is uneducated on the system. The techs we have dealt with have told us they are reading from a manual. There is obviously poor training on tech support if they have to read from a manual to provide assistance. -We have called when our remote access (app) does not work only to be given instructions that do not work. Again, we had a rep assisting us that placed us on hold multiple times as he could not find the answers in the "manual" he was going by. -Our monitor had been tampered with and disconnected (for over 3 hours) with no call from Vivint. When asking a rep about why we were not contacted, we were given the answer of "the monitor has to be armed for a call to go out." That answer is completely unacceptable. If our monitor has been tampered with for ANY reason, we should be called. -Our system has not been armed for almost 3 weeks and I was told that a tech could not make it out to our home for 2 weeks. How can an alarm system company have no techs available for 2 weeks when someone's home is not alarmed? Unacceptable. - I spoke with Oakly Paterson (supervisor) and relayed all of these concerns to him. He gave me his email to communicate any further concerns and said that he would communicate with the scheduling department to try and expedite someone out to our home sooner than 2 weeks. As I predicted, I did not hear from him so I emailed him to get an update. No response. That email went out to him on 7/25/17. Oakly sounded professional but outside of what he presented, he left a poor impression along with the rest of our experience with Vivint. Prior to writing this review, I read other comments and I find it interesting that the Vivint responses to people's one-star reviews appear to be computer automated. I promise, they do not care about the safety of your home, the amount of money you pay each month, or that they provide good customer service. Please stay away from this company! read more

So I was contacted by Vivint after my review stating how poor a company Vivint is. With Vivint actually stating that "we will look into this situation for you and make sure that we get your system working properly and all of your concerns resolved." I was impressed, I thought wow maybe they do care about their customers. Sadly no, they still can't seem to give me a copy of my contract, they want me to pay them $49 for their tech to come out and fix their faulty products AND pay $60+ for the faulty parts! After we got the installation, he mysteriously disappeared. So I begrudgingly paid out my 36 month contract, which then I find out that he wrote it for 42 months and they gave me the incorrect information on the length of my contract when I called to find out when I could cancel. So when I went to cancel after what I thought was already an extension of my contract, I find out I have 2 more months to go. Which they would not give me a credit for EVEN given all of the false information I was given. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. A very nice man stopped by on a cold call sale and I bit. I am a bit enamored with home automation and had been researching it and this looked like an opportunity to get started. He explained everything and the install was done that day. I probably would not have gone ahead if I had read all the reviews but still, I was happy with the technology and Z wave is one of the two best for home automation right now. I was concerned about the 5 year contract but I can see how if the equipment is "free" then they have to recoup the cost to have a viable business. I found out that a house I had been waiting on a short sale had finally come open and I decided to opt out under the 3 day cooling off period and sent in my form USPS signature required. I called vivint and they said they could not do anything without the form. Once they had the form they did move quickly and called, asked why I was dissatisfied and were very polite. The workmen came today and uninstalled the system. They were also very polite and courteous and quickly did the uninstall and left me with a receipt. I cant say how things would have been long term with this company but by the interactions I have had they seem to be ok and the tech was great. My parents own a business in Sparks. Early last year, one of Vivint's weasel sales people (Jake) knocked on my parent's front door. The little worm talked my parents into changing their home security system AND the one at the office. I was then convinced by this worm to install this system in my home. I can honestly say that this switch was probably the absolute worst decision ever made. We CONSTANTLY have false alarms going off in our office at all hours of the day. Their customer service representatives are also some of the dumbest on the planet. My mother has repeatedly told them to make me the main person on the account so I get notifications first. They are incapable of making this change (they've been directed to do this at least 10 different times. As of this morning, I have 7 emails regarding a LOW BATTERY for my system at home. I have also received 2 phone calls to my cell phone and 2 phone calls to the office for a LOW BATTERY at the office. The panel activity shows that the battery was replaced at 6:30 this morning, quickly followed by a low battery for the same sensor 3 minutes later - repeated 4 times in 20 minutes. We've had so many false alarms at our office since January that the Sparks police department will no longer dispatch to our location. If you are thinking of getting an alarm system - I recommend running away from Vivint. read more

I have been a Vivint subscriber for about a year now. We recently noticed that our rear slider was no longer triggering the alarm. But based on a previous need for service from Vivint, where they charged me for the service call and the parts, a simple stick in the door seemed like a better value. Then our "smart" panel began barking at us for the 3rd time in the last month saying that it had a low battery. It does not, and the malady is resolved by re-booting the panel. Not the end of the world, but a pain no less. So I thought I'd call in again. It ended up being a 45 minute call, and I was finally able to get them to agree to send someone out without charging me, as the rear slider worked right up until the fellow came to fix our system last time. 45 minutes seems typical I guess, but it's not consumer centric. My service appointment was yesterday from 10 to noon. At 12:25 I had to go back to work. No show, no call. My entire day was planned around this appointment. So I call Vivint, and the gal I spoke to was completely un-repentant for my plight. She did tell me that she was able to waive my service fee though because of the no show. Wait, what? I thought... Never mind. I will write this company a check for $450 or so, so I own and no longer rent-to-own their crap equipment, and move on. Get a mean dog. Put sticks in your windows. Hire some goons to house-sit. Anything. You'll be happier in the end than I am now. read more

I have spoke to several departments, several "administrators" who all promise EVERY month it is all taken care of but call after call into their billing customer service dept it never gets fixed. Do not fall for the scam that this company is. They will lock you into a contract that costs Thousands if you want out. The salesman will promise you the world and make it seem like you have time to cancel if you dont like it, but When you call customer service you will constantly get the run around and they refuse to cancel your services. They will say a retention team will call you in 2-3 days, or that they will fix it, but no one calls you, and no one shows up to install what the salesman promised. Quit often you are given an outdated system that was leftover from previous tenants. DONT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU, avoid ANY long term contract with this company. We recently had a new Vivint security system installed at our home. Justin in sales makes promises that his company cannot deliver on. Dennis, our installer, didn't have the necessary equipment on his truck to install the cameras on our first visit. Strike one.The sensor he placed on one of our garage doors flew off after he left, taking paint with it. Strike two. As he left the first installation appointment, he recommended that we have an electrician install extra outlets ($$ in added costs) at the top of the walls on the other side of where the cameras would be placed to avoid running yards of unsightly cable along the walls in our house. The electrician told us that Dennis could easily install the cameras by plugging into a power source in the attic and running cable between the studs for a seamless install (oops). Today, during install #2, Dennis immediately balked at the extra work associated with the electrician's fix. We had to insist he do it. Dennis then proceeded to tell us the cameras Justin sold us could not be installed where we need them for maximum coverage. He recommended the door bell camera as a substitute for one of the cameras we purchased which is inferior. After he finished his subpar installation work, we realized his placement of cameras could be greatly improved. In the end, we will have to pay the electrician to do Vivint's installation correctly to protect our home and to minimize damage to our house. We wish there was greater competition in Reno and better options. Homeowners beware. This is a company operating on slick marketing and false promises, behind fake we-want-to-make-you-happy customer care smiles. Vivent should rebrand as "Vavoom!" read more

I have to call Vivint once a month to fix something that isn't working with their equipment but the worst part about it I have to spend an hour of my time to fix it with someone on the phone and to have a Vivint support come out and do it is 40 dollars.
