His communication is impeccable -…read moreanswered my initial call on the second ring, drove over the hill to our home in the mountains by the end of that day to give us a quote, and was out the next day to replace our 40 year old garage door! He texted us updates on his timing and progress throughout the day, and unfortunately (mostly for him because of all the driving back and forth he had to do!) he had to come back to replace one of the panels the next day (to add windows) because of confusion with his supplier, but he got it done quickly. The brand new system he installed is working out great with the WiFi connectivity, camera, automatic lighting, and the whisper quiet door itself. We didn't get any other quotes but we're really happy with his work and our new set up. He's also very friendly and great to chat with. Highly recommend him and his crew!

I called the business and they actually arrived within a couple of hours with a new opener. They clearly explained why the opener failed and that spring and other elements needed tending to for it not to fail again. They were willing to fix those items on the spot as well, yet I knew I wanted to replace the door itself at some point, and they told me they can do that in a day! I took them up on the offer and they followed up with a quote and timeline. They came around the next morning, completed the work in the time stated, and did an utmost professional job, cleaning up well after it and taking the old door away. They certainly set a high bar for how I will expect other businesses to work from now on!

This was never communicated to me. Also I needed to re-explain things to the people who came in to do the work. Frankly this just came across as deceptive. 2. They either lied about lead times or they straight up forgot to place my order and then lied about it. They said it would take six weeks it took 12. I actually checked in at 6 weeks and it sounded very clearly like they didn't have my order and then they backtracked. 3. The installers left a mess. This is the clincher for me... leave the place cleaner than you came. I ended up with extra holes in my ceiling, drywall dust and screws all over the floor. It was just unprofessional. All in all this was an expensive service and they were grumpy, rude and don't deserve my business (or yours frankly). 4. They installed an insulated door without seals with the shrug of -- well we just don't do that anymore. An insulated door without seals is pointless. Then don't install an insulated door. 5. They are a pain to deal with. No email just an answering service, it was just difficult to get clarification on things. So why three stars after all this... I have a door and it appears to be installed correctly. When you are spending these absurd prices for a garage door frankly I expect better service.

He seemed very knowledgeable, and had a solution for every problem I had, so I was excited to get the project going. The cost of the project seemed reasonable as well. The reason I am giving one star is because he refused the project due to our HOA, which required a permit for door replacements. If that's all it was and it was accompanied by a good explanation, I wouldn't feel the need to do this. But please keep reading. Steve claimed that he has never had to get a permit for door replacements, but the HOA said it was a newer county requirement. Steve refused to take my deposit, and didn't exactly say why other than the HOA would make it "impossible" for him to do the job. I don't think it is impossible to get a permit for the work, unless of course, there is some issue with your license, bond, or insurance. It wasn't the work itself that made it impossible... he said the HOA made it impossible. But he didn't say why. He refused the project over email without explanation. I politely expressed my disappointment and asked for an explanation, but he never got back to me. This is why the one-star review. When people don't explain their actions in situations like this, it is either a disregard for common courtesy and decorum (you just don't treat people like this), or he is hiding something (some reason why he can't obtain a permit, or maybe he's just old and tired). Be careful working with Steve and verify with the county if you need a permit for the work he might perform on your property. I have the sense there is something dishonest underfoot.

He also set the timer to close automatically after the the door has been open 20 minutes. This is especially helpful because I sometimes leave the house and forget to close it. He installed a key pad outside to be able to open without the opener. That has saved my butt a few times when I locked my keys in the car! The insulated door makes a big difference. It keeps the temperature in the garage nice, year round. All in all it's the biggest convenience and a beautiful upgrade to our home. Friends and neighbors have complimented on how good it looks. James did all the work with precision and foresight and not a spec of saw dust or sheet rock was left on the floor after he was finished.
