Wonderful Breakfast/Dessert Crepes, with an Impressive Array of Savory Crepes, too!
This food truck opened up in the middle of April, and sadly, I've just discovered this one only recently. They use a buckwheat crepe that is wonderfully light, airy and amazing in their own right. Add to these a wide variety of different fruit preserves, caramel and some very fine powdered sugar on the breakfast/desert side and this is barely the tip of the ice berg and they are more than willing to create different combinations if they have the ingredients on hand. I'm quite glad that I decided to give one of these a shot and at $4.95, I'll definitely hit them up, again, and again!
The same is true of the savory side of their offerings, though sadly the meat for their shaved spare-ribs was quite dry, and could have used a touch of anjous to go with the meat so that the filling wouldn't soak through/dissolve the wonderful buckwheat crepe in which they were served. Really loved the bleu cheese, sauted onions and mushrooms that were also part of this savory crepe. Again, just a bit dry and hopefully in the future they'll get this sorted out. Oh, on a very positive note, they take customer requests and again, if they have the ingredients, they are more than willing to make "customized" versions of their wares. The savory side ranges in price from $5.95 and $6.95 (for the one that I ordered, specifically).
One thing that I might try the next time on the savory side is to have them put a little powdered sugar as this really brought out the flavor of their crepes.
The chef and his assistant were wonderfully polite, friendly and gave some very tasty suggestions. I'd change this to five stars quite quickly if they give a little bit of juiciness to their meats. One filling that would be scary within this context would be to use AZN's Kalbi (short ribs) for the meat.
According to their web site they cater, and I do hope to give this a go at some point in the future.
The biggest suggestion for folks trying this food truck out is to come early as the lines do get long and deservedly so. read more
