In town for some rest and have been ordering dinner out all week. Saw the great review and decided to order. First, they were out of one of my items. That's ok, however, it was my main entree. I received the following: my salad, which was old and wilted, dessert, which was good, and the DB pickles, which were horrible. I'd have to say I'm Disqusted on how my family and I were treated 7/292023 at this restaurant. I'm a local, I live .25 miles from the restaurant. I brought my out of town family in for dinner. We were sat at the table just on the other side of the restroom entrance. We were invaded with Flies. There were more than 10 flies sitting on half wall eating something that was on the sill. They were flying into our food, on our utensils, on our person, in our hair etc. When we told the Waitress, she said " It is was it is" and walked away from the table. We then tried to explain that the flies were in our food, she didn't care. All that was done was giving a 20% discount. None of our meals were edible after the flies landed on it. The Waitress brought the bill and then said " And that's that" walked away again. We had more than 3/4s of our meals left on the plates and still paid for it. Corn beef was just ok. Very small amount. The gyro platter was one of the worst things I have ever eaten. Tzatziki sauce was sweet and way too much on the sandwich. DB Pickels entered our lives one Thursday afternoon, mere days after a serious car accident. We were on a trip here in Ormond Beach, and had spent the days after the accident sitting on our friends' couch or sleeping, trying to recover a bit and mend our broken bones. So when we finally felt well enough to go out on our own to have a restaurant lunch, we scoured Yelp for a quiet place. Our slightly befuddled minds (concussion) could think of nothing but deli food, sandwiches perhaps, comfortable booths, quick service, nothing touristy, and easy parking. We found all that in DB Pickels, and more! The menu is extensive. The food seems like your usual deli food, but every single thing greatly exceeded our expectations in quality, flavor and portion (jesus, those portions could feed a family of bears!!). And though I abhor pickles, my husband was thrilled that such a thing as a pickle bar exists! All you can eat pickles! We valiantly managed to eat our way through a mountain of potato cakes, Rueben sandwich and sausages, and still managed to go home with some grotesquely large cake for our friends (coffee cake and chocolate), at least part of which we ended up eating. It comes included with a lot of the entrees, and I loved the variety of pickles they offered: half sour, dill, bread and butter, spicy pickle salad, and more. The rest of the meal was marginal. Fried pickles to start with that had essentially no flavor. For my meal I had half a Greek Salad, and matzah ball soup. DB Pickles apparently subscribes to the school of thought that if you throw feta cheese on shredded lettuce and toss in a couple olives, you can call it "Greek". Sadly, that is not true. The matzah ball soup was okay, even though the ball was a bit denser than I like. I was totally excited to find a deli style place in Florida. I was craving a sandwich, and what's better than a Jewish-style NY deli for that, right? I actually don't eat pickles, but my wife loved the pickle bar. It's not quite as amazing as some on here have alluded to, but she liked it enough. Great casual atmosphere with comfortable booths. Really fast, friendly service! This place is pretty good if you want a deli sandwich and your friend wants Italian food. There is a pickle bar that comes with most orders. They have various pickled items, peppers and beets. It's nothing special but it's a good idea BUT, if you're gonna have a pickle bar you'd think they would be home made and delicious...this is not the case. The half sour pickles tasted strange and gross, I couldn't even eat them..and that's my favorite kind. The sweet and sour ones tasted like vlasic pickles. The pickled tomatoes (strange) tasted like pepperoni according to my boyfriend. The only thing edible for me were the beets that might have been canned..I'm not sure. They have classic deli sandwich items, selection of bread-seeded rye, cuban-style, and you can have have kosher style dishes as well as italian dishes. There is also a selection of dishes that are under $8.00. I ordered a "half" sandwich (the turkey stack) which I assumed meant, half a sandwich. It actually means whole sandwich, half the amount of meat. It was dry and plain. They throw a pile of shredded lettuce and ONE tomato on the side. I think they use miracle whip. The fries were seasoned but nothing great. They tasted like they were frozen. The high point was the sandwich my boyfriend ordered, the chicken melt. The seeded bread was great and the chicken was flavorful. The macaroni salad that came with my sandwich was so good! It was sweet. Yum! There are free refills and when we asked for a container to take our food to go, the waitress asked if we wanted a soda to go as well! What could be better than that?! Oh, and they're open on Sunday unlike some other restaurants near by. We went at a strange time so it was completely empty..but as people started shuffling in, the staff sat everyone RIGHT next to us...there was an entire empty restaurant!? Strange.... For a first-time visit to DB Pickles, not bad! I attended a financial seminar meeting and we were served a complimentary dinner. I had a Tuscan Chicken Salad and the hubby had Grilled Pork Chops. All of the food was very fresh. My salad had grille dchikcen, grape tomatoes, fresh mozarella, balsamic drizzle, red onion, a pesto aioli, and balsamic vinaigrette on the side...all served on a wonderful spring mix. The pork chops were tender and juicy and were served with roasted red poatotoes, fresh veggies and a side of applesauce. Pretty nice. If i could give zero stars i would, VERY RUDE STAFF. The girl that bags the orders went off on me because i asked how much longer till my doordash was ready. Told me they would definitely not hurry for me since i'm "bugging" them. Then 2nd driver after an hour picks up the food. 2.5 hours later we get our food and it's cold and missing items. When we called to explain our dislike the girl hung up on me after saying come get what's missing. Then I called 2 additional times and she hung up again. We as locals will never go back. We have enjoyed DB Pickles for years but sadly there has been a post Covid decline that gets worse daily. The food is very inconsistent kinda like rolling the dice. The wait staff are pleasant enough but it's apparent they are habitually under staffed. Unlike in the past, the last two times, no one greets you and when a person finally arrived, he looked like he'd just crawled out of a dumpster with an attitude. The lobby was absolutely filthy. Rubber floor mats were balled up and sitting on the benches. There is understandably seating delays of 39-40 minutes attributable to staff shortages. So we sat and sat. Finally, I decided to try and get some drinks. On our last visit there was no bartender (and the visit before, the bartender quit and walked out). Finally someone showed only to tell us they were out of most popular vines. That was the final straw, we walked out. We hope the owner is able to turn things around soonest otherwise it won't last much longer. It's like watching an old friend die. We own a 2 week timeshare and was getting tired of the same places all the time. Found this place about seven or eight years ago, and been going there about 2-3 times per trip. Was here again tonight and the food never disappoints in quality or quantity. The desert counter looked stunning as usual. To top it off we just found out they started breakfast service. We love this place. It's always crowded and you wait in line BUT it well worth it. The "pickle bar" has tiny plates for tiny service but you can always go back for more. The dinners are excellent and they give you large portions of food. My husband eats ALOT so he is satisfied here. They have an outside seating area when we bring our 2 dogs. read more

What a disaster!! Tried to eat here but absolutely will not go back! After a 20 minute wait to be seated, we were all looking forward to trying several of the menu offerings. The host was polite and got us drinks to assist the waitress. We watched several waitresses walk by for over ten minutes without even making eye contact. Then we saw the party who waited after us was seated and immediately greeted by a waitress and given service. Again we waited!! One of our party got up to ask for a waitress, when all of the sudden, a waitress in a bright pink shirt walks by shouting "They just got seated." She then proceeded to walk around telling other patrons that we had just been seated-a total and complete lie! The manager was apathetic and only offered another waitress as a solution. The young host even acknowledged that we had been waiting for a while at the table. When we said we were leaving another waitress rudely yelled, " have a nice day," and laughed. DB Pickles is usually the best when it comes to there everyday fare, but NOT this time. I was so looking forward to some comfort food with my friends, we got the corned beef and cabbage and the yankee pot roast. I guess it all started when we waited over an hour for our food, the corned beef and cabbage (and other veggies) were cold, not ice cold but getting there, the pot roast had steam coming off it but that turn out to be the blob of onion they lobbed onto the plate. We sent the corned beef back and it took another 30 minutes before we saw that food again, by that time we were in the mood to speak to the manager. In true DB fashion the mgr went directly into defense mode and did not hear what we were saying. He did take 50% off the bill and we did end up taking most all of it home, but my friends were left thinking they were never coming back to this place.... And that's NOT the impression I wanted them to have... I really like DB Pickles and LOVE their food, but I want to chock this up to a bad day! OH, and by the way, I usually give the waiter or waitress the benefit of the doubt, but this time it was just as much her fault as the kitchen's, this is only the third time I've ever done this but I left NO tip, she was inconsiderate, almost never checked on us, and was just plain RUDE.... My husband and I were shopping at the Daytona Beach outlets. We were getting hungry and were looking for a place for lunch. I searched Yelp for a good Jewish Deli and DB Pickle had some pretty good reviews. It wasn't too far away so we decided to give it a try. It's a typical Deli. You walk in and wait to be seated. They also have a bakery with assorted desserts. We had to wait to about ten minutes to be seated. It wasn't during peak lunch hours so the wait wasn't too long. We ordered the DB Pickle Pastrami Stack and it was enough to share. It comes with a pound of meat, a side and the Pickle Bar. For a $2 split plate charge it's enough to share. I asked for two extra pieces of rye bread and it was plenty. The rye bread was so fresh and delicious. It had a nice crust to it and I really love that. Bread can make or break a sandwich if it's not good. Lol. The Pastrami was good but not the best I've ever had. It was very lean and wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. It was just ok....not as good as Carnegie Deli in New York. Carnegie Deli is my personal favorite when visiting New York. I did love the German style mustard. It had just the right amount of spice and complimented the Pastrami well. The Pickle bar was very good. They had a good variety of pickles to choose from. I really liked their half sour pickles very much. They also had a few pasta salads as well. I wouldn't make a special trip to DB Pickle but if I was in the area I would try it again. I'd love to try their corn beef and bring a loaf of that delicious rye bread home. read more

This place is fantastic!!! First night, we got everything to go. When we got it home, there was a lot of fresh, perfectly cooked food. It was a perfect end to a long day. We had pork chop dinner. They are cooked to perfection. Calamari and onion rings. There weren't even any crumbs left! And a Greek salad. Delish! We had enough for lunch the next day. The next night, we decided to go out to eat. We went to Espo's which was a colossal fail! After an hour wait there, we showed up at DB's more than hangry! We told the staff what had happened. They seated us immediately. Put in an appetizer order straight away. Gave us tlc and we're so gracious!! We ate fantastic food, repeated the pork chops, a black and blue burger, and a steak and salad. We had leftovers and took home desserts. It was fantastic! The wait staff gave us 10% too. However, these two are what makes our dining experience that absolute best! Both are Charismatic and genuinely sweet. You are greeted at the front by the charming Count.
