I love that Dazzle has remained in existence as Denver's premier jazz venue. I don't love the new space. It's a long narrow room with the bar and kitchen at one end and the main walkway directly in front of the stage. With a two-item minimum purchase, the wait staff go back and forth in front of the musicians throughout the show. And the cost can be out of reach for many jazz fans. The cover, ticket fees, minimum purchase, and mandatory 20% service charge means you'll easily spend more than $50 per person for one set, not including downtown parking. The wait staff are competent and personable--doing the best they can given the setup. The food is creative and good. Dazzle is still one of the few places in Denver to catch the best local and out of town jazz players. read more

Dazzle didn't dazzle; instead it underwhelmed. Poor service. Waitress had "I don't really want to be serving you" demeanor every time she approached. And some missed on certain menu items. First impression: seemed like a cool venue to hear some jazz, sip nice cocktails and share a good meal. We weren't there for the jazz show this night; however, so we were seated in a separate room which was fine. We started by ordering an appetizer of roasted cauliflower with the Yelp "check in" offer. I stepped out to the restroom and by the time I returned our "roasted" cauliflower had been brought out. Only, it wasn't actually roasted. Perhaps briefly warmed, but it was essentially a slab a raw cauliflower with some melted cheese on top. Now I like raw cauliflower but not when I order a ROASTED cauliflower appetizer! Our coattails were enjoyable. I ordered the Rivoli which was quite good (at $14 it better be!). I did ask our aforementioned-server about a different drink on the menu. She wasn't familiar with it so she said she'd ask the bartender. Nope. Never reported back. Whatever. I ended up ordering a salad and Brussels Sprouts for dinner. Salad was fine, not amazing. Brussels were tasty and well prepared. My notes of friends truffle fries were good. Bottom line, tepid/disinterested service, menu misses and high cost (total bill for three Ps $115+tip) don't make me feel excited to return. read more

The food we got tasted good but it's overpriced. Honestly, I don't think I would've balked at the tiny $21 prime rib sandwich, consisting of just bread and meat, if it had come with fries or even chips on the side. But it came with just two small slices of pickle, not even a pickle wedge, and not enough food considering I spent $21 on it. You shouldn't pay $21 for a main entrée and walk away hungry. read more

This music venue offers a great performance calendar by various talented musicians. I was here for a vocalist performance by Lindsay Day. The check-in process was very orderly - both ticket and Covid vaccination verification (show your app or card). Seats were divided into Tier 1 and Tier 2 (at least for this event), based on the distance to the podium. Due to labour shortage, the food menu was reduced to reflect the capacity of the kitchen staff. Nonetheless, both food and drinks were great! Please note that Dazzle adds a 20% gratuity to all checks automatically. read more

I prefer the old Baurs location a hundred yards closer to me (saw the legendary Benny Golson and Pat Martino), but we're lucky to have a great jazz club in Denver. This is a nice, grown and classy place. I love the atmosphere. However, I really wish you would add appetizers on your menu. Not everyone wants a full meal, and adding some type of finger foods would be great. It's kinda pricey, but I guess that's to be expected. The tickets are priced really low, but by the time you leave, everything adds to almost 200 dollars with the 14% additional gratuity. Another thing if you pay with your card vs. paying with cash It's even higher. But the performances are absolutely amazing. I just wish you guys would add more food options on the menu. read more

Nice Sunday Brunch buffet, nice Jazz music, very nice staff and servers. Their online reservation system was broken this past week but we called and made a reservation easily. I believe their Brunch ends at 2pm. I wanted to go here to celebrate my birthday and I was not disappointed! Brunch includes unlimited coffee, hot cocoa, tea and a wide variety of juices. They had an omelet station, waffle and crepe station with lots of toppings. Plus scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, crispy potatoes, mini biscuits and gravy. A cold cereal bar. A dessert bar too. Some salads, deviled eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables including pickles. They also had several hot savory dishes like brisket, Mac n cheese, cheesy grits, Mexican taco bar with lovely salsas and beans and rice. Everyone loved this place and the food. And every single person at the table has a wide variety of flavor preferences from sweet to spicy to salad lovers. I was amazed at how everyone was so impressed and satisfied. Someone said in a review here "it's not gourmet", and I felt like it was fairly gourmet for an unlimited brunch buffet, from mango topped cream cheese filled crepes to poblano melon salad and petite biscuits and gravy.... it definitely had thoughtful, lovely selections of elegant food. read more

I was more baffled than dazzled for two main reasons at Dazzle. The bar was sorely understaffed with just a couple bartenders on a packed night ... which led to long, long waits with my glass much like me: empty inside. The second problem was that the live band was entertaining and great ... too great ... and too loud. I said, the music was too loud ... loud ... LOUD ... the MUSIC IS TOO LOUD ... we couldn't hold a conversation. I said, WE COULDN'T ... oh, never mind. After a couple of beers, I bailed on Dazzle and went out into the Denver night in search of faster bar service, more alcohol, quieter atmosphere, and less razzle dazzle. read more

Dazzle has been the best jazz club in Denvrr for years, first at the funky location on Lincoln & recently at the space that was formerly Baurs downtown. The quality of the performers can vary enormously, but that's to be expected. More important, Dazzle is a "listening room" and the group on stage never has to compete with noise from drunken patrons, a very good thing. The food is good as well, if a bit over-priced. Dazzle will soon be moving to a space in the Performing Arts Center, a relatively sterile environment. I'll miss the raucous setting of Baurs but the things that distinguish this place will likely endure. read more

Dazzle Jazz! This was a lot of fun, I came here to support a buddy playing for MJO. The food was a little pricy which is understandable because they don't make money on the tickets, so we balled out on some small plates, wine, and dessert. It was a swanky little place, great for jazz and hanging with friends but would be too loud to take a date. I'd give 4 stars, but our server Zach, was super personable, kind, and helpful with the menu and ordering process even with the loud music, that I'm giving it the full 5. I brought my girlfriend here to celebrate her birthday, belatedly. It was snowing so we grabbed a Lyft. We showed up early, but we got a booth in front of the band stage. This is a very impressive buffet brunch. There are a lot of great vegetarian options, as well as a brisket station and many great options. Live jazz is so fun! The Bodines were playing and they were so fun , focusing on their audience and making up songs for people's birthdays, occasions. Dazzle has been around for a long time. It's just a great place to come and enjoy live music and great food. The buffet was about $30/person, and mimosas are $12 for a bottle of Dazzle bubbles and a small carafe of orange juice. On the advice of Kate G. I stopped in here to enjoy happy hour before heading to a Yelp event across the street. For future reference, if Kate G. recommends a place, just go there, I have full faith and confidence in her suggestions. The HH menu at DazzleJazz is extensive, varied, and affordable. They have $4 HH Martinis (15 of them if I counted correctly). Every Martini, from classic, to manly, to girly, to uber-creative is available. They also offer $4 Sparkling Wine cocktails (think Bellini or Mimosa), $4 Smooth and Cool cocktails (think Moscow Mule, Daiquiri or Singapore Sling), and HH eats in the $3.75, $5.75, and $6.75 range. There are also add-ons and a couple reasonably priced, but higher end (think steak) options. For my noshes I opted for the Braised Greens and Roots with Bacon (mmmmm . . . bacon). This was a hearty and well-prepared dish that was almost like a variation on corned beef and cabbage. I also had the Crispy Polenta Cake with sauteed spinach, red pepper coulis and cotija cheese. This $3.75 HH item was something I would have expected to pay much more for as an appetizer in a fancy restaurant. It had some very nice texture and taste. For my drinks, I went with a Moscow Mule (yes, $4 for a Moscow Mule in a real copper mug . . . If you let them hold your ID) and a Jello Martini (house-infused berry vodka, vanilla vodka, cranberry juice, and grenadine) . . . served in a jello-powder coated rim martini glass. It really did taste like jello, and the taste was good indeed. I asked my oh so impressive bartender (Dan) what the machine that occasionally went "Whirrr" from behind the bar was, and he indicated it was a powerful juicer. So, for my final drink I had a Salty Dog (freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice with vodka and a salted rim). It was head and shoulders above any equivalent drink made with canned juice. read more

I've been to Dazzle on a couple of occasions - once for their famous urban brunch, which wasn't really up my ally. I'm not a fan of cramming as much food as I can in my face in one sitting, especially in a room that's packed from wall to wall. But, a recent return for dinner was much more satisfying. We came before seeing a play at Curious Theater, which is just a couple blocks away (check them out - best small theater in Denver). I started with a wedge salad, which was blah (but what wedge salad isn't?). That was my first and last - I don't get the appeal of a wedge of iceberg lettuce, no matter what fancypants add ons it comes with. But, then came the burger. It was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time! If you're looking for specifics, it was the California Burger. Perfectly cooked, amazing taste, and fresh avocado. I actually took the uneaten portion home - and 1/3 of a burger isn't usually the kind of thing I'd tote home. Wow, it was worth it! Dazzle is a great place to stop for a martini. My favorite is the "hunk".. It goes down like candy :) Happy hour is really the best time to visit, $4 martini's. I also like the selection of infused vodkas. The biggest problem here and my only reason I don't give dazzle a 4 star rating is the service. Not because the service is not attentive, mainly because the majority of the time the servers are down right rude. Unfortunate. Live music is great though, and it's in my hood so I'll keep coming back. read more

My BF and I greatly enjoyed the band, Spherio. They are an excellent Thelonious Monk tribute band and I look forward to seeing them again. I have been to the previous two Dazzle locations, I'm glad to see this old space at the DCPA getting new life. There are a few drawbacks, though. The tables are tiny, which is fine if you're only getting drinks but not great for food. Now, let's talk about the food, which is also not great. We ordered the charcuterie, definitely skip this. It's nothing more than an expensive lunchable. The meat tasted like pre-packaged lunch meat, not even Boar's Head quality. The cheese was very basic precut cubes that you can buy in the grocery store, and the almonds tasted like blue diamond almonds in a can, not marcona almonds that you typically expect on a charcuterie board. I ordered the marinated olives . . . twice, but they never arrived. The watermelon salad was good. They also have a pretty small selection of alcohol considering it's a bar. No Hendricks Gin, no Tito's vodka, and very few specialty cocktails. I'll go back because I like to see the bands, but try to eat beforehand if you have time. read more

I had a by the glass Cabernet that was nice and smooth and my husband had beer (and the can read "House Beer" and was bottled in Denver.) I ordered the half chicken, and it was quite tasty. It sat atop mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. I recommend it for a pleasant evening with mellow jazz and excellent service. So a couple of weeks ago I took my folks to the theater, and we stopped in to Dazzle for dinner beforehand. The service was a bit of a disaster, and I shared our experience on Yelp. The owner of the business reached out to me and apologized profusely that our experience was less than stellar. He refunded the money that we had spent and offered for us to come down again so that he could make things right. I've worked in food service industry before and completely understand that it is possible for a normally stellar staff to have an off evening. Plus, anytime that someone reaches out to me after a negative review, it instantly begins to change my opinion. Just the fact that they care what their customers are experiencing shows they are willing to improve. So we were back downtown last night to check out American Mariachi at DCPA, and figured it would be a good opportunity to take the owner Matt up on his generous offer to have us back in again and show us how they really do things. Talk about a night and day difference! Everyone was unbelievably attentive, a water glass never sat empty. Between the server and the bartender, they managed to keep all 4 of our cocktails topped off for the entire duration of dinner. As I mentioned in my previous review, there are definitely no problems here when it comes to the food. You can tell that they source amazing foods; let's just say you don't see a lot of soft shell crab this far inland. All of their ingredients are fresh and top of the line. They also attempt to source much of the menu locally. We started out our meal with their fried seafood combo appetizer. The calamari was some of the most tender I have ever tasted, cooked to perfection. I had the steak with garlic butter which was out of this world. We had tried the Brussels sprouts last time, so 3 of the 4 of us ordered them again this time. My mom decided to go for the acorn squash, which was absolutely phenomenal. Kind of wished I had had that instead! But the brussel sprouts were still delish, lots of bacon and layered savory tastes. My mom and my hubby had the salmon, which was fabulous. The mashed potatoes had a interesting's flavor, almost a citrus type taste. On their own it was a little unusual, but when paired with the salmon it was spectacular. My dad went for the polenta, which was loaded up with delicious fresh seafood. Once again, we wrapped up our meals with some of their yummy dessert offerings. I went for the carrot cake, dad went for the flowerless chocolate cake again, and mom and hubby got some of the sorbet, which was really creamy. Matt came over to speak with us towards the end of our meal, and we spent some time chatting. He definitely felt bad that we have not had a great experience, and genuinely cared about making sure that all customers walked out of there, well, dazzled. We asked him about the Buaers sign outside, and he shared with us that it is a historic landmark. There used to be a long row of smaller theaters leading up the avenue to what is currently the DCPA. They even have a really neat antique photo on the wall near the restroom that shows what the street used to look like with all of those marquees. They are staying true to the history of the building, inside and out, which is commendable. They even go so far as to maintain the Bauers salad on their menu, as it was such a hit locally with the previous restaurant! Our server went above and beyond to take care of our every need, but she wasn't the only one. Both of the managers stoped by our table, and other servers cleared plates, filed water glasses, etc. That's the way it should be done! Every single detail was perfection. In my 1st review I eviscerated this place over the service, but I had no complaints about the food. The food here is worth every penny. Really top quality stuff. They fixed what was broken with the service and I have done a 180° on my overall opinion. Before we left for the evening we were already making plans to come back. Based on Matts comment that he would take care of us, I had expected some sort of discount or homie hook up, lol. But I was surprised and delighted when he comped our meal! Talk about going above and beyond to right a wrong! Dazzle now has lifelong customers out of me and hubs, and I am pretty sure it will be mom and dad's go to place whenever they're downtown as well! I'm super impressed with how far these guys will go to turn a negative positive. Five Stars all the way! We'll see you again very soon, Dazzle. You've lived up to your name! read more

Husband and I were waiting on our room to be ready... we decided to try out Dazzle as we walked by and were intrigued by their menu. What a gem! Let me set this up - we walk in, so tired from our 7 am flight and long day of travel. Hungry. Thirsty. Need coffee. Need to chill and work on our laptops. We're greeted by extremely friendly staff who let us sit anywhere. The booth we chose was clean and had ample plugs and free wifi. The waitress gets to us immediately and lets us know there is free coffee at the bar. We're also told it's happy hour (It's 11 am on a Thursday) so $3 mimosas -- which were more like double mimosas. Score. We're checked on numerous times but not to the point to where it is annoying. The $5 breakfast sammich was DELICIOUS and clearly an affordable price. I also asked for decaf and they didn't have it- so they specially made me a french press for free. Live music was pleasant (I love me some jazz tunes) and they opened up the set with asking if any musicians wanted to join in. Someone jumped up on stage during their lunch break to play piano. The building is from the 1800s and has the same floor and plenty of tribute to the old candy store that used to live there. All in all, a great environment and friendly staff. The configuration is not optimal for music, the chairs were very uncomfortable, the tables too small to eat at but that's ok because the food was not good. Please fix the seating and table situation so we can think about a return visit. read more

Denver is a surprisingly good city for Jazz, but many of the Jazz clubs in the city are more mid-scale or located in dive bars with crowds who don't take the music as seriously as one would desire. You get great music at these places, but the downside to, say an Herb's or El Chapultepec, is that you do get a bit of that drunk party crowd that is only there to barhop. Dazzle is the place to go to for someone that wants to listen to music. And, oh by the way, they have full-service dining as well. This is great because it's a unique experience in the Denver area. The layout is nice, but not so posh that it's unapproachable. The bands that play here really are jazz, too, unlike some of the other (aforementioned) jazz bars that have some jazz but are seeing more and more blues, soul, and even pop and hiphop being repackaged as jazz. Dazzle runs the gamut of what jazz is, and sure, many of these groups incorporate those elements - but the spirit of free-wheeling, improvisational jazz can be felt here from pretty much any angle you might expect - electronic jazz, classical jazz, cool jazz, jam jazz, hot jazz. If I were rating it just on the food, it might be three stars - it's a little pricey for what you get considering there is usually a cover charge to get in. This is especially true the wine list, which to me is uninspired and had me somewhat sticker- shocked last time I went and had four glasses of average wine and ended up with a $72 drink bill. However, it's nothing out of the ordinary, and probably a lot more reasonable than the New York or San Francisco clubs. The thing to keep in mind is that the music doesn't pander to trends, and maintains its intellectual dignity - that's what I do like about this place. It's the best place in the Rocky Mountain region where a music nerd and jazz-trained drummer can satiate my musical palate. read more

Our nephew had the amazing experience of coming here to play with his jazz band. Did I mention he is in middle school? Totally awesome that this jazz bar gives kids this opportunity to play on stage in an actual jazz bar. This is exactly the kind of space that I would expect to hear good jazz in. It has the vibe, the ambience, the whole deal. We ordered some apps and entrees and the food was pretty good also. We started with calamari and fried zucchini. Typical fried fare, it was good but not mind blowing. For my main, I ordered a salad that had feta, blueberries and almonds that was really good with the exception that I couldn't taste the dressing so asked for an additional side. The waitress mentioned that the dressing is light so I would just suggest a little more added to begin with. But we really weren't there for the food, so overall we had a really lovely evening! read more

Attended a "Witches Brew" Halloween event that was a mediocre evening. Had a booth across from the bar, plenty of room, but if you're not above average in height, your view of the band is partially obstructed - TIP: take a table at the level below for a better view. Server (Monique) was terrific, the best part of the evening. Attention to detail, friendly, knew the menu, professional, interactive, and consistent. Pizza Margherita was good, as was the Lamb Bolognese, enjoyed the sample of the salmon dish from one of my friends. The Famous Dazzle Carrot Cake was as good as advertised. The food was good, but not great. Portions were average-sized. I appreciate Dazzle's commitment to music. Aside from being closed on Mondays, Dazzle has live music daily. The band struggled somewhat this night, hindered by a faulty microphone for one of the lead vocalists, but also had limited energy and just were not at their best, aside from talented vocalist Janine Gastineau.
