What gives this hardware store three stars is that it's a small chain. It has a great feel and you're sure to find lots of bulk items. Nowadays, it's hard to find a hardware store that lets you claw out your own nails in bulk, but this place does. The downside of this type of hardware store is that it doesn't let you see or choose your own lumber before you buy it, as evidenced by this photo. The quality of the two pieces of fairly expensive pressure-treated wood that I purchased was so atrocious that I wondered if they had come out of the ground from somebody else's yard: cracked, splintered, missing parts of the wood, discolored, and bowed. Definitely give this place a look for hardware and tools; not so much for the lumber. read more

My father bought a mower and we tried to return it within 30 days for a store credit to buy a better mower and the management denied us. Husqvarna's corporate policy allows returns within 30 days, but they can't require a retailer to support their policy. The clerk remarked that the model we had bought is a "POS" so even the staff knew it was a substandard mower yet sold it to an 83 year old man. Doing research after the fact, the same mower at Lowes was $400 cheaper and Lowe's stands behind the products and respect customers. Every time I have a problem with my chain saw, I head straight for Dazey's small engine service center where I find professional customer service and knowledge about my equipment. They go above and beyond to make sure your equipment is service correctly and speedily. Looked at the box stores for a decent rototiller and not only could we not find a decent model, but couldn't even get an employee to come out and assist us. Realized that DH may have what we were looking for and we are so happy we did. The young man that helped us not only answered our questions, but when we picked out the one we wanted he filled the oil, added gas, and started it to make sure all was good. The repair department. I delivered my weed cutter to them, got it back two weeks later, and asked them to start it they told me no worries, but it is fixed. I got home and tried running it two days later it would not run, so I called them got attitude from them. I called to speak with the manager, and she told me they would make it right. Well, I took it in, and they wanted to keep it again. I said no refund my money or fix it right now. Again, they were rude and acted like I was inconvenient to them cause they were busy. If they had started it in the store, this would not have happened. I give them 1 star for making me feel like I was the problem. Piss poor service. read more

I live an hour from town and my generator quit working. Being my only source for backup power, I was frantic. I called Jeff at Dazey's and he quickly diagnosed my problem over the phone and together, we got the generator up and running. Everyone I spoke to at the store was respectful and courteous. My experience with Dazey's Hubbards was nothing but exceptional. The day after the fires razed our valley a few weeks ago I went shopping for a generator. I found great stock and awesome service. Everyone was super helpful from the girls upfront to the mechanics in the shop and the managers who all showed up to help the customers. I noticed that the staff take pride in the neatness of the store, and are quick to ask if you need help locating anything.

Love love love their selections and try to use them over Big Chain when we can. BIG negative is the staff could be a little less "bothered" when asked a question. We are 69 and 77 years old and came in for a good size piece of equipment. We got no help and in fact were treated quite rudely. No help was offered at all. My husband is left with a very painful back and leg from lifting and carrying. We should have just walked out but we shall not return. First off I do not normally post reviews. But, hopefully this review will help others avoid my mistake. I am a local builder. I make my living with my hands and tools. I took a piece of equipment in for a tune up and was told that it would be ready in 2 weeks. At 3 weeks, no one had called me, so I called and received a plausible excuse as to why in had not been completed but I was assured that it would be ready the following week. That week came and went. ( no contact or update once again ). Another call was met with more excuses as to why I was going to have to wait until "next week". What ever that means. I have very little confidence that it will be ready. I will no longer use Hubbard's for any needs our buisness may have. I wish them well but I cannot recommend them as a professional repair shop or supplier. read more

This store changed hands as of Jan 1St . I just called and got the absolute WORST customer service I've ever received and I've been a customer of this store for Years! I spent $900 on a new saw and can't even get Dale to look for a warranty card. He tells me wait until 10. I tried to explain that I'm coming from California, making a 90 mile trip....I'm sure he didn't hear me as he just kept interrupting to tell me he can't go look for the card. Wayne and all the employees I encountered had excellent customer service. My mission was to duplicate a key. The two keys did not work correctly because the original key was a relatively rare key (Schlage G) in the area of local key duplicators (Lowes). The two copies I purchased totaled to $3.58. I was able to return the keys and was refunded my money with a smile. Hubbard's has over 800 types of key blanks (or so I was told and I saw at least 5 times more at Hubbard's than Lowes... I've been here numerous times. This place has people who are knowledgeable and friendly. They arent impossible to track down either (cough - Home Depot).... Let me start off by saying I go out of my way, on a regular basis to support local business over big box stores. That said, I will never, repeat never step foot in this store again. My distaste is geared 100% to there small engine repair shop. They had my equipment nearly 3 months. A part was always 'on order". I never received a call with an update. I called numerous times only to get a rude response, the runaround, told a part was on order, I was disconnected, promised return phone calls were never made. At one time this shop was great. It is now beyond awful. In this economic climate you would think customer service or at least common courtesy would be offered. I know this is expected of me in my line of work. Not at Hubbards... I have spent a lot of money here because I truly believe in supporting small business first- I had never needed to return an item until today- those who wrote good reviews probably never have either.... though I had my receipt and the transaction had been immediately debited from my account they would only give me store credit- worse yet they claimed it was Visa's rules- because of my occupation I know that to be completely untrue- I understand this strategy for preventing return fraud but I obviously didn't fit that situation... the manager was incredibly rude and even laughed at me- as a manager I find it sad that the company she works for doesn't trust her enough to make decisions or use her own discretion to better serve customers.... The 3 stars are ONLY for the staff who helped us in the lumber area and with our cedar purchase and soil loading in the breezeway. I had a great experience until check out. The woman at the front can get a negative 5 stars from us. We did not receive a warning that the store was closing but still made it to the check out with 10 minutes to spare. The woman at the counter was rude and made it known that we were cramping her style by paying at close to closing time. We walked out the door at 5:57 and spent $300. Not a huge deal, but if it were my company I would want every paying customer to feel welcome and appreciated. I also would fire anyone who treated my customers like that. EVEN if my customers wanted to pay at 6pm, I STILL would want my customers happy and interested in coming back. I spend hundreds of dollars per week at home improvement stores and this store won't get another penny of mine. Unfortunate. read more

I took a garden scissor out of the rack for $21.98. I went to the cashier who told me the scissor was $25.98 which was not what the label showed. Next, I asked for the manager who told me that I have to pay $25.98. I refused to pay the higher amount and insisted that by law he has to sell me the product to the price showing in the aisle. He resisted and asked me to leave the store. His name is Mike Smith and he is a lair and this is the reason why: He told me that the $25.98 garden scissor was from another place in the store. However, the other place - row 17 had no such scissor and in fact now orange handles on any scissor at all!!! When I asked him where that other place was supposed to be he told me he didn't locate it yet, even if there was only one other place it could have been. By the way, I have photos to proof my statements. Mike Smith is flat out a liar - no possible other explanation. I have been many times in this location, but they lost me as a future customer. By law he was supposed to sell me the scissor for $21.98. He also told me that he satisfies every customer - I answered he surely didn't satisfy me... no further comments. read more

I purchased a Honda lawnmower (and a leaf blower, hedger, and trimmer) at this store because I wanted to "shop local" and I thought if anything should ever need a repair they would be there to help. Well, a year later the lawnmower self propel feature stopped working. I took it in, and was told it would be a warranty repair that should take 2 weeks. 3 weeks later, I called the check on the status and was informed, by a very rude employee, that it was going to take another two weeks. When I objected to this and asked about just picking it up to take it somewhere else, they told me they are the only warranty repair center in the area, so I could do that but it would not be covered. When it was finally completed, they presented me with a bill......turns out it wasn't a warranty repair after all! How irritating! read more

STOP DO NOT SHOP HERE ! First, I've been a customer of Hubbards / Dazeys for a decade on a commercial account. The old owners sold out in 2017, the new owners retrofitted the store and kept one of the original brother/owners on. They always fired the older guys once they get about 10 years in an replaced them like an old car, totally heartless. Half the staff was ok and some were very & super helpful. Of those leftover employees now called Dazeys only the former owner - brother and the British guy who has been working there for a long time are really nice and helpful, the rest ignore You and have zero public relationship skill they totally lack customer service & have zero enthusiasm. 2018: I came back as a non-commercial regular customer, dropped my small 2014 good condition Husqvarna chainsaw off to have a simple gas fuel line replaced. The counter clerk knows nothing about repairs they hide the real repair people away from the customers so they wont accidentally tell You the truth or inform You so You drop it to an uninformed part counter person. I paid $40 deposit up front, why because they know ahead of time they are probably not going to come to pick it up because they are going to charge You the full retail amount of the saw ( or lawn mower etc...) charge You $100 for a saw You already paid $100 for. They know ahead of time they are going to stroke You and so they want the $40 AND they want the saw which they will sell on the side to one of their commercial tree service account customers out the back door. This so-called hardware store makes its real money on fixing ( gouging ) customers for simple repairs, the front 2/3rds of the store is just staying afloat. It's like going to a pawn shop only You pay to put Your item into pawn lol . The moral of the story is ONLY go to a small gas engine mower or chainsaw shop and talk directly with the owner/mechanic so they can inform You in person and ONLY repair anything that has many hundreds or thousands of $ value. Hubbard's is always my hardware store of last choice. The employees act like they are doing you a favor by showing you what aisle the product is on. Today I needed an adapter and nozzle for a faucet. The employee showed me the area and didn't quite understand what an adapter is and when I found the product area she was out like sheet lightening. The nozzle on one product did not fit the adapter though the width was almost the same, I told this to two employees and basically was shined on. The only reason for one star is they do have a good inventory. I usually go to three or more stores before Hubbard's. read more

I purchased Lennox fire place insert from Hubbards on 10/21/2014.One month after purchase one of the baffle boards broke and fell into the fire box.I made several contacts with Mark,Paul and Criss about a replacement part.They were going to order the part and call when it came in.All I got was the run around as no one ever called.After a month Criss called and said the part had not been ordered as it was not under warranty.I read the warranty and if nothing else its covered under the 90 day.I said never mine I will talk with Lennox which I did but they said I would have to go through the dealer which was going no where.I also sent a E-mail to Hubbards which they did not respond to.This is very poor customer service on there part since I spent almost $2,000 on this stove and should have received some kind of service Roland R e- read more

I am very disappointed in Hubbard's! My mom who is a senior citizen on a limited income purchased her pump there and when it quit working, she returned it for servicing. The person who took the pump explained that they were very busy and it would take some time to get around to fixing it. When mom went back to check on the status of her pump the person rudely told her "too bad, your warranty is expired now." When she dropped it off the warranty was still in effect. I am guessing that business is so bad that Hubbard's has to take advantage of their customers and CHARGE to repair something after intentionally running out the warranty. read more

Never coming back. You've lost a lifetime of service from me and my father. We have gone there our whole lives because we live right down the street, but now we have no problem making the extra trip to Lowes. Yesterday, on Father's Day, a cashier blatantly insulted my dad when he didn't check the price of 4 nuts he picked up in the back. I couldn't believe it! Not only should he have that information as a cashier, we have never been treated like that. When my dad came back up to the front with the price, he looked surprised that we didn't leave after he insulted us, as if he wanted us to leave. This place stinks!! I walked in with a over the shoulder bag and customer service asked to search my bag. My bag contained my planner (holding credit cards, driver license etc). The employee asked to keep my bag while I shopped. Sure let me give you all my identification and credit cards to hold while I am in your store.
