This spot is my go-to and I am so grateful that it's located in Fairview. The atmosphere is comfy, cozy, and inviting. There are many options for breakfast food (bagels, parfaits, etc) and for baked goods (GF muffins, banana bread, cookies, etc). The drinks are always made well and there are plenty of options for your drink order. The staff makes sure to greet me and I genuinely enjoy my interactions with them. My coworker and I were staying in Fairview after a conference in Asheville and decided to grab a quick caffeine fix here, and we're SO glad we did! The vibe is very cool and casual and both our coffees were absolutely **amazing.** I'm so used to needing to doctor my coffee after getting it but that would've been a crime with the Mexican Mocha I got; it was beyond perfect. Mountain Mojo is one of my favorite places. The coffee is good and reasonably priced (there is a $5.00 minimum if you use a credit card, though), the atmosphere is great, the tables are nice and big if you go to get some work done, and the employees are always very nice. My only complaint is that their pastry selection is hit or miss (it is always homemade, from what I've seen, so this is understandable). It is busier in the morning, obviously. So don't plan on having a big table to yourself if you go early. read more

I was having an "Anything Can Happen Sunday." My hubby was out of town, and I had the entire day to myself. I normally don't drink caffeine, but a nagging headache threatened to dampen my euphoria. Thus, I decided to try Mountain Mojo, our new, local coffee shop. I have to admit, I was skeptical, despite my high mood. This shop is run by the same folk who owned Sugar Beet Restaurant - a potentially great local dive with good food, but odd hours. Sugar Beet went the way of most good intentions, and they closed. In my humble opinion, I believe Sugar Beet's demise was their inconsistency. The service was always off, but worse than this, they would often be closed during their posted hours of operations. To compound my frustration and confusion, there were days when I would go to Sugar Beet's door, only to find that, not only were they closed, but people would be swimming on the inside like ants in a flooded anthill. No one ever offered to come to the door or explain why they were closed for business, or that they would be opening soon, despite the fact -for all intents and purposes- they should have been open for an hour or more. Being the forgiving sort, however, I decided to give their new endeavor a try. People make mistakes, people learn. Easy 'nuf, right? So, on Anything Can Happen Sunday, I drove myself a healthy distance from my house. The sign, as in the past, implied they should be open for business. To my dismay (but not surprise), they were CLOSED! The sign on the door said that they were closing at 11:15 am the day before, but no explanation as to when they would reopen - if ever. No indication was posted as to why they were closed this day, either. You know what Einstein said: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I had hoped Mountain Mojo was a product of lessons learned, but it appears it is just more of the same. Seriously, folks?! Woody Allen (if I may use one more quote) said, "80% of success is just showing up." It's really not that hard to succeed, unless of course you define success by opening up restaurants only to close them. Really sad. read more

Mountain Mojo!! We were on the GO, a short stop before visiting the Biltmore Estate. A great selection of coffee, espresso's, lattes. Freshly baked breakfast items to tease your desires of complimenting the beverage of your choice. We took time to enjoy our selections while admiring the nicely done interior that exhibited the beautiful artwork of a local artist. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our requests. Love this little coffee shop off the beaten path. Located east of Asheville, it's the only one within a few miles in its area. The shop itself is open and comfortable, but has a drive-through for folks on the go. The options for coffee include 4 single-origins, ranging from light to dark roasts and a decaf option. They have a pretty impressive selection of homemade pastries (didn't notice any savory ones), including a few gluten-free offerings. The employees were incredibly warm, and even offered to-go cream, sugar and a discount when I ordered 12 individual cups to take away. If you're in the area (and not on a Sunday, when they're closed), absolutely worth a stop. read more
