It is a modern and nicely decorated clinic. This clinic has 2-3 dentists. My dentist only works here every Tue since he works on Steeles Ave W the rest of the days. They have a knowledgeable receptionist. My dentist charges reasonable prices (some clinics charge extra). He doesn't do unnecessary dental work. He uses a dental assistant during his dental work. Before the pandemic, the waiting room had enough seating for 4 people. They also gave out free lip balm and green apples. Since the pandemic, there are only 2 chairs, the waiting room is almost barren, and there are no free handouts. The receptionist desk has plexiglass all around it, and there is hand sanitizer on the counter. During pandemic times, you are asked a few questions a few days before the appointment, then you have to answer the same questions when you arrive for the appointment and sign a waiver. You must wear a face mask the entire time until you sit in the dental chair. During pandemic times, there is a heavy duty HEPA filter air cleaner in the waiting room, and in each dental room. After each patient, all their masks and gowns are thrown out and the room closed with newly installed plexiglass doors. The room is emptied for a few mins while the HEPA filter air cleaner cleans the entire room of any lingering droplets. The rules are that if you don't have such an air cleaner, you cannot use the room for 3 hours. So it is cheaper to but an industrial quality air cleaner. The dentist wears a N95 mask and a face shield. Unfortunately it means his voice volume is at 50% of his normal volume. There is free WiFi. Each patient room also has a 32" Sony TV installed above you so you can watch it during dental work. The handle dental insurance claims. You still have to pay first but the submit the claim for you (some people may delay submitting the claim).

For minor cavities, she always suggested to monitor instead of doing filling right away (not like a lot other dentists who are money driven). Her reason was every time you did filling you would lose an extra part of your own tooth. She tried hard to help you extend the lifespan of your teeth as much as possible. The front desk lady, Floor, was also nice and warm. The only reason I did not give a five star was because this place put an extra charge of fluoride treatment on your dental cleaning claim form and a lot of insurance companies did not cover it. All the previous dentist's places I've been to just simply included this service in the three units of scaling.

I feel like most dentists try to sell you on additional treatments just to make extra money but she really seems to bring out concerns I had for a while and explain what options I have. She is very knowledgeable compare to the dentists I've tried in the past through gift card recommendations on sign up. She was kind to do my first dental cleaning as well as the consultation. While it could be because the dental hygienist couldn't make it to the shift, she explained she actually enjoyed doing it for the first appointment, so she can assess the teeth closer. She's really personable and easy to talk to and learned a lot about how she got in the business and her family. I'm sure she can put even those most reluctant at ease. The clinic also follows full COVID protocols, you'll have to sign forms online/in-person. Pens are sanitized between uses. Appropriate barriers are in place. They also followed up with me and asked if I have developed any COVID symptoms since I've visited. I wish they had an automatic charge on my insurance like some other health providers. That would've saved me the trouble of dealing with admin work of submitting my receipts.

Note that they will pressure you to get every service under the sun, all about the money. I had all my fillings redone (questionable) and I was told that I should have various other questionable procedures done. I asked for a second opinion from other dentists regarding some of the procedures which they said no to. When I brought this up to the dentist, I was essentially told "oh, what do they know". If you are ok to tell them that you don't want these extra things done and please don't ask again, you will have a great experience.

Unfortunately, I also feel pushed to get certain procedures done. I had 6 cavities done over 5 years at Bite, but last year they told me that the cavities had to be refilled. I went to another dentist and those cavities were not an issue. The last straw for me was when they mixed up my dental appointments twice and I had to call to confirm my appointment date. I appreciate reminders, but getting dates mixed up seem to be a subtle way to recall me more frequently. I feel bad for Bite because it used to be an amazing clinic with dentists and hygienists, but the high turnover and business operations pushed me to go with another dentistry.

However, it seemed odd that they said I had six cavities. They very patiently walked me through all the work that would need to be done, around $1,500 with my insurance. I'd never had a cavity before, it had only been a year since my last appointment, and nothing about my life had changed. I put off scheduling fillings and scheduled an appointment with a different dentist to get a second opinion. This was a year and a half ago and I've since seen two different dentists, neither of which said I had any cavities. When I mentioned this to one of them, she said that while there are two spots she's keeping an eye on, they don't need to be drilled. Because they haven't gone more than halfway through the enamel, they may resolve on their own. Dentistry is a subjective art. People have different thresholds for when they want to have fillings put in. I prefer to not drill holes in my teeth if it's not strictly necessary. You may feel differently. Just know that they set the threshold for drilling very high.

Doesn't have all the (unnecessary) bells and whistles you sometimes see (eg tvs, noise cancelling headphones, etc)...just a super skilled dentist, great hygienist, and extra lovely support staff. Also: I pay out of pocket and the receptionist always provides me w an estimate before any work is done, just to make sure I know what I'm in for. I moved to Toronto two years ago and started coming to Harbord Dentistry since it was nearby my apartment and reviewed well and I have no regrets! My old dentist used very traditional methods and never really communicated with me as to what was happening with my dental hygiene or what steps I could take to make improvements on it - it was in the door and out as fast as possible and the barrier of communication caused my dental hygiene to suffer over the years. Dr. Baradaran and his team however are some of the friendliest people I have ever met! They schedule appointments to be longer than needed which means Dr. B has plenty of face to face time with you and can answer questions or fill you in on what's happening with your mouth and his team have given me advice on how to improve my hygiene routine. Additionally the hygenists are incredibly patient and are very accommodating with my gag problem and always make sure I am comfortable above all else. Whenever they need to do something they will tell me ahead of time and not only let me know what procedure they're doing but also why they're doing it and what it will do to help my mouth. It truly was a night and day experience coming here after my old dentist and it has helped me see just how much difference there is between traditional and modern dentistry. I'm definitely going to continue coming here as long as I'm living in the GTA.

Upon some followup research, I believe that the majority of positive online Google reviews are generated by the marketing management team at Dawson Dental. I wanted a cleaning and a rebonding of my front tooth. I've had this done before, with the same time between dental visits, and it was done in one appointment, not a big deal. Under two hours - not a severe case. This place dragged my process out to three separate appointments, used up my entire year's worth of dental insurance plus hundreds of dollars more, and they did not even end up giving me a full restoration of the front tooth. Instead of rebonding, it was suggested that I remove the initial bonding, which we did, but this involved under five minutes of shaving a tooth upon my final appointment. I was provided a supposedly complimentary whitening kit to use at home and asked to come in for yet another followup visit. Meanwhile I was charged as if they had provided full, end-result service. As a new client, you are required to take 1.25 hours upon initial visit to sit through an exam and diagnosis. I believe that they prefer to dizzy you with unnecessary details to waste time. I was not once during my three visits given a straight talk-through on what to expect. Their goal is to keep you coming for more appointments. Do your research -- this practice is all about the hustle. The front desk and hygienists are absolutely friendly, but there are so many better, more adept and honest dental providers in the dt that are worth putting your mouth, money, and time into.

I've experienced multiple incidents that have me and my partner looking for a new Dentist. They have a text messaging system that is just incredibly annoying. I received one text advising me I had been overcharged and requested that I update my address to be refunded. I thought it was odd to get a text versus a call with someone apologizing for their mistake. I promptly called and updated my address. A week later I get the same message, I call back, my address is up to date. I assumed it was an administrative error and gave it a pass. One month later I get the message again and I call back, they promise its been corrected and request to no longer receive text message alerts. Then it happens again, I call back and finally get reimbursed about 3 months later. I had booked my 6 month follow up appointment immediately after to ensure I had a set time that worked for me with the hygienist I liked. I received a call on the day of my appointment letting me know I was 30 minutes late to my appointment. This was the result of me requesting to be taken off the text messaging alerts. I did not receive prior notification of my upcoming appointment. They said I received an email as well and gave verbal confirmation of my appointment over the phone. Which did not! My email was incorrect in their system and had to be corrected, I had to reschedule my appointment and the earliest I could get was 2 months out. The straw that broke the camels back was my partner also having an awful experiences. On multiple occasions his follow up appointments have been rescheduled. There was one instance where he received a call to reschedule and later on the same day was called again by the admin to see if his reschedule appointment could be moved again. They have also overcharged him and since has been seeing this Dentist he has NEVER had an appointment not be re-scheduled on him. Its such a shame to have to look for another Dentist and hygienist. Its so hard to find ones that is as great as this place but the management of the place is just so horrible and frustrating that I just cant see myself going back.
