Why do dental clinics claim to be good for nervous patients when they are not. Please be honest. It's impossible to get an honest review on anything anymore so here is one for you. Kingwest Dental does not care for nervous patients with care. They refuse to re-do my nightguard (one of the reasons I switch dentists was to get the 3D tech for the nightguard production) as it does not fit. They don't care, they already got their money. My teeth hurt. My coverage is only for one nightguard (obviously) and they wont help. The last cleaning I had the woman gouged me and also put the blood and plaque on my shirt and in my hair and was pretty mean and rude to me. I felt afraid halfway through and my neck was hurting so I asked for a rest. She typed on the computer with the same gloves she was using to go into my mouth. It made me feel sick. Finally, I'll say that I specifically noted that I need female clinicians (i'm a survivor of violence, which I shared in confidence) and they didn't respect that .I guess they found it amusing to see me panicked as the male dentist came to check in on me on my second visit. I gave them one more chance after that and that is when I got butchered and covered in gunk. Super nasty. Very disappointing. read more

It's hands down the best dental clinic in the city. pleasant and accommodating front of house staff and the dentistry work is perfection every time. Ive been going to Dr. Sobhi for about 8 years. they really are meticulous in their work, yet it's efficient time wise and always a pleasant experience. five star all round. read more

I was asked by the Hygienist Katie when and where the last time my teeth were professionally cleaned, on learning that it was a year ago & in India, she responded to with a rather rude and racist remark that Indians don't know how to clean teeth, she even narrated an episode of an Indian client walking in last evening with not such a clean set of teeth. --She even said the dentistry in India is sub par which was an extremely uncalled for remark. Interestingly, after examining my teeth, she said she was surprised that I had it cleaned in India and it was still looking okay. All of this is unwarranted and unprofessional, not to forget - heavily misinformed!  --Moving on to the cleaning bit, Katie started cleaning my teeth and I happened to say an "ouch" a bit loudly as she was quite aggressive with her procedure. She said I "cannot yell" and did not bother checking if I was okay and continued her process. Her body language and attitude seemed condescending, she was physically hostile with her procedure, even potentially dangerous. --I wasn't expecting to be treated with such racial hostility and inconsideration from a hygienist at a clinic with such great reviews. Hygienist Katie's hostile behaviour towards people with diverse backgrounds (or maybe just Indian?) will definitely keep me away from returning to such a place. If you're ever walking into this clinic and you're Indian, you know who to watch out for. read more

The office is great, very clean, organized and professional. My experience with staff has been great except for Dr. Venus Sobhi was not such a good experience on a couple occasions. My husband mentioned he was not happy with her work to glue a crown a few years ago but I remember it overall was not a "I will go back to her" experience and he has requested other dentists since then. I now very recent had my first exchange with her as my dentist and it was not so good. She had a student with her and showed lack of respect to them, and she also was more on the negative side with her approach and her assessment. I was not left feeling good after our exchange. Also to note, my teeth and X-rays are all great. It was just her disposition that I felt was lacking. read more

They're ok. Got the job done. Feels more like they were trying to sell me Invisalign than anything else though. Not the friendliest. Not the least friendliest. Probably better in the Toronto area. Probably worse. If it's close to you, go here. If not, meh. read more

Well, I have been gone to many dentists through my life and of course I had some good and bad experiences. I started to see Dr. Venus Sobhi about 4 years ago and already did few treatments including bone graph, implant and couple of fillings. Recently I did some crown works as well. Honestly, never had any issue with any of the treatments I had. Absolutely no side effects or pain or discomfort. I respect others point of view but to my knowledge, she is an excellent dentist who knows what she is doing very well. read more

I went to Dr. Sobhi on an emergency basis, same day appointment, and stayed after that. She is exacting in her skills in dental work and always shows a competent professionalism; she is very good at laying out options, and supported my referral to a specialist as needed. It should be mentioned that the premises are spotless and entirely modern; apparently (to me as lay person) the latest and best equipment; covid precautions are very rigorous, and they say there have been no covid infections transmitted there. The hygienist Yontela is excellent, and the other hygienists as well; my gums are sensitive and the hygienists have a light touch and observe covid precautions in using hand scaling instead high-pressure water stream. read more

I cannot begin to express what a positive ecperience it is to go to the dentist here! I know more than a few dentists personally and have been to many over my lifetime. This practice stands head and shoulders, in every regard, above every dental practice I know of. Not only are they medically/technically knowledgeable and professional, the positive environment and "can-do" attitude of everyone from the administrators right through to Dr Sohbi takes away any apprehension of discomfort and especially money-grubbing feeling I get at most other dental practices. I have recommended this office to half dozen or more friends and all of them really happy. Especially two of them who were both really afraid of dentists. They both said Dr Sohbi was not only calm and kind, but did major work over several months without any discomfort. read more

I had an excellent experience at Kingwest Dental. I am a new patient looking for a new dentist because of some of the frustrations I had with my old one. My hygienist was very knowledgeable and she explained the entire process thoroughly. I had x-rays and pictures done before the cleaning. We discussed the results of the x-rays and pictures and went through some history--which is very new to me. This allowed me to feel like I was a part of my circle of care and I really appreciated that. They do have direct billing and even offered to send my insurance company a quote for potential work I would like to get done. I highly recommend coming here. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. 3 years ago I was fed up with my childhood dentist of 23 years. I used to HATE going to the dentist. Cleanings always took over an hour and I never flossed so it was just bad. The lectures from the old, bitter hygienists made it worse. Kingwest was close to my new apartment and I read good reviews and gave it a shot. I have been there ever since. From the receptionist to the hygienists, everyone working there is upbeat and kind. I actually enjoy going to the dentist now and I never thought I would say that. It's great to see a business that has so many young women who are passionate about their jobs. BUT the most important things: 1) I grind my teeth and even through a night guard my front tooth kept chipping over the years. I kept having bonding done by different dentists and it would always crack off. When I first went to kingwest and dr sobhi suggested adding the bonding I was nervous because every time they do that they shave the tooth down. I decided to try it one last time and OMG this was maybe 3 years ago and it is still going strong!!! 2) the most important thing is dr sobhi noticed the intense amount of wear on my teeth and asked some probing questions which led to her suggesting a sleep study for sleep apnea. No one had ever mentioned this in relation to my teeth grinding. I put it off but the next time I had a cleaning she pushed me to book a study. I did book it and was diagnosed with apnea - the study showed I stopped breathing every 5 minutes all night. Without dr sobhi's keen eye and positive pressure to get it checked I never would have known. I now use a CPAP and my overall health and even teeth grinding have improved. I know this was a crazy long review but anyone with sleep apnea will tell you once you have treatment your quality of life is so much better than before. I am SO grateful to dr sobhi and all of the women working there. I will never need another dentist. I'd recommend them to my enemies, they're that good. read more

Best dentist. Five star service. Love teeth and their clients. Amazing! Ill never go anywhere else

Would not recommended. Service was terrible. I left upset. I had been recommended this dentist by a friend so I expected it to be good. I went in for a consultation, took a day off work as I work out of the city.. Went in and I was out again In 5 minutes with none of my questions answered. She was extremely rude and blunt about my treatment for Invisalign/braces and I left upset. Told me I'd never have the "Hollywood smile I wanted and to get it out of my head" i never mentioned I wanted one. I have never left upset from a dentist. I cancelled my next appointment with them and iv taken my treatment else where. read more

The staff go above and beyond to give this place a community feel. Bright and modern it's easy to feel comfortable. I had the most painful cleanings of my life here but Dr. Venus Sobhi disused the situation gracefully and professionally and made everything right. She is top notch in my books. They took time with our three year old to be certain she was ok with the surroundings. Lastly, we used to have to pay over $35 out of pocket every 6 months with our previous dentist for cleanings. Here they manage to stay within our insurance budget. Honesty works in my books. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Sobhi's at King West Dental for a couple of years. I love coming to see Dr.Sobhi and her staff. Everyone is so courteous and make me feel comfortable. I always have a positive experience. My hygienist Rachel is gentle with me and always does a great job cleaning my teeth. I do drop by once in a while to say hi to everyone. I always get a thank you for stopping by. Jacqueline K. read more

Update: As mentioned in my initial review, went to Downtown Dentistry and they figured out the issue right away. They actually presented a viable solution. I suggest looking around, some dentists are much more, knowledgable, experienced and *professional* than others. read more

The hygienist was very nice and patient for my first visit. Scheduled me for a second visit so it wouldn't hurt too much. Great environment, comfortable new equipment. My insurance paid 80% of the bill. I didn't get invoices till almost 3 months after the service. And when I called to pay the balance, they even offered a discount without me asking. If I stayed in the area, would definitely have gone back. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Recently called to make an appointment for the following day and they told me there was only a hygienist available the next day but that they had space that same day later on with a dentist so I said that would work. Upon arriving I sat down for quite literally no more then 1 MINUTE for them to tell me what I already knew. They mentioned I should get a cleaning to help with a pain in my gums but that they didn't have time to do that that day so I had to book an appointment for a different day at the front desk. I asked if there was anything they could do to help with the pain and she said no...Why would you tell me on the phone you had available space if you could only attend to me for one minute! Upon leaving they wanted to charge me $75 for NOTHING! An "emergency" appointment they called it. Yet I never said it was an emergency nor did they ask me if it was over the phone. I was willing to come the next day or any day after but THEY offered me an appointment that day. Thankfully a separate receptionist seeing I was a little upset by that offered to lower it to $50. Not only did they tell me they had time to see me (but clearly did not) but they wasted my time and as someone who is 8 months pregnant this was the last thing I wanted to deal with. Very unimpressed and have decided to change dentists. read more

Dr. Venus Sobhi is very professional and takes an interest in truly helping out her patients and suggesting the best alternative solutions. The staff are very friendly and do their best to make you feel comfortable. I went in for zoom whitening trays and was accommodated right away without waiting past my appointment time. I have also had excellent cleanings and extractions and couldn't be happuer. Highly suggest this place if you're interested in switching dentists. read more

Going to the dentist has ALWAYS been a dreaded affair for me. In fact, I usually warn new dentists that I can be a bit of a baby. The staff at Kingwest Dental and Dr. Sobhi have made my experience SO much more relaxed and fun (is that even possible?) by talking me through all of the steps and procedures, and by being super friendly and xhi. Also, zero judgement, zero lecturing (no one wants shade from their dentist). On top of the amazingly cool people, treatment, and convenience, they also give incentives and rewards for being good to them right back! :) If you're looking for a new dentist, I'd recommend them all day! read more

As a very nervous patient I could no longer cope with the visits, partly due to the doctor's abrupt approach towards me. My final visit involved teeth cleaning, which the doctor performed herself, at some point my sensitive gag reflex was inevitably but only briefly triggered. When this happened, she seemed to run away, handing me straight over to the hygienist (who was fortunately very nice and accommodated around the gag reflex). At the end she came back and explained that I wasn't cleaning my wisdom teeth effectively, and that they *must* be removed. When I questioned whether it was really necessary (they're not rotting or impacted), she became pretty cold, intimidating and avoided my eye contact. I can't say that day inspired much confidence and I never went back. I feel sorry leaving a bad review, however it was as if I was being treated like a set of teeth and not as a human being. If you are a nervous or needy patient, this dentist is probably not for you. Otherwise I cannot complain about the work done. read more

I would recommend Dr. Venus Sobhi. Took me in without an appointment when I had an emergency and she did a great job. read more

Unfortunate that they do not do direct billing for NHIB. They are however able to do direct billing with all insurance, but I imagine the extra step for a Status Indian would be too much to bare. I was genuinely looking for a new dentist close to me, now that I live off King Street. However, the receptionist was definitely professional and not rude whatsoever, was simply repeating the information she was giving. Apparently, their prices are no extreme - they don't fit in the bracket of a normal clean up/check. After seeing the reviews here, up charging is a normal practice, insurance or not. Unfortunate. Their Instagram page is filled with athletes and celebrities, looks like my little monies just doesn't cut it. 2019... there's not place for discrimination, you should have in place a system for NHIB. You are on Native land, needless to say. read more

Have been here twice this month- went with them after seeing ad in Facebook for free tooth whitening for new patients and seeing decent reviews online. First impressions with booking staff very positive- very helpful changing appointments and they called with reminder before. I had asked for estimation of first visit so they explained to me how pricing done in Ontario ( never been to dentist here before). They were also great to deal with in person- friendly and gave a lot of time to both me and my son ( see further on!). First visit had two X-rays and cleaning done with hygienist. I hadn't seen a dentist in over 6 years and was expecting usual lecture. Instead she was really nice and did a great, painless job. Also showed me how to floss properly, which turns out I didn't know how to do right..! The nicest part was in relation to their treatment of my newborn, who had had to come with me due to babysitter issues. The other staff volunteered to take him during the visit when he got unsettled, and ended up walking him around the entire time. Anyone reading this with kids will know how much I appreciated that. The dentist then came and explained work required, and I followed up with that today. Again a great service- dentist left loads of time between giving anesthetic and starting work- v much appreciated, not like previous inpatient dentists I've had who left only a few mins between drugs and starting (meaning not numb enough and painful experience, hence the 6 years between appointments!). Work was quick and painless. She had given me an estimation on the last visit but she reviewed this, changed treatment slightly and reduced cost significantly. Very much appreciated her assessment and approach. There was a very decent discount for ppl paying privately which they have without asking. Also got impressions for free whitening done and I can collect it next week. I've already referred ppl here and seriously advise it for those looking for new dentist. they deserve the custom read more

I have never had a worse experience at a dentist in my life. I went to see Dr. Sobhi for a root canal consultation, and she asked me to come in the next day. When I told her it was not possible due to my work schedule she replied, "Well if your work is more important than your health, that is your issue," among other condescending and disrespectful remarks, such as "That's fine, if you want your whole face to swell up and get infected." Which it did not. I mentioned this comment to the endodontist and he was unimpressed by her assessment of the infected tooth. She seemed visibly disgusted by the fact that I needed a root canal, and left me close to tears by the end of our consult. I also asked her to look at fixing a tooth that had cracked off a few days before and she wouldn't even look at it, rolling her eyes and saying "let's fix one problem at a time. we'll deal with that later." A cracked tooth is a pretty urgent issue, so this was negligent at best on her part. "Dr" Sobhi didn't even explain anything about the procedure she was recommending, let along ask about my insurance or ask the receptionist to file an estimate. She was rude, unprofessional, and I would never ever recommend to anyone that they go to this dental practice. read more

As I recently moved to a Toronto I was on the hunt for a new dentist, after calling more than a handful of dental offices I landed on King West Dental and I'm so glad I did. They were accommodating right from the get go and were able to assist me asap. Everyone was friendly and helpful from the receptionist to assistants to the dentist herself. Dr.Sobhi took the time to listen to me thoroughly and work with me on how we would move forward as well as make the price reasonable considering I don't have an insurance plan. This was the only dentist I found in a Toronto that would even look at my teeth without a cleaning and/or new full set of X-rays - which is amazing in itself. The procedures I've had done already this past week went smoothly and Dr. Sobhi made me feel comfortable and calm (I normally hate the dentist!!!) I no longer feel nervous prior to my dental appointments. I couldn't be happier that I found King West dental and would recommend them to anyone!! Thanks King West!! read more
