Bite used to be a great clinic, but a lot of the good dentists have left and there has been a high turnover of dentists. Dewi, the hygienist is detailed and amazing. Unfortunately, I also feel pushed to get certain procedures done. I had 6 cavities done over 5 years at Bite, but last year they told me that the cavities had to be refilled. I went to another dentist and those cavities were not an issue. The last straw for me was when they mixed up my dental appointments twice and I had to call to confirm my appointment date. I appreciate reminders, but getting dates mixed up seem to be a subtle way to recall me more frequently. I feel bad for Bite because it used to be an amazing clinic with dentists and hygienists, but the high turnover and business operations pushed me to go with another dentistry. read more

Dr. James Liang only sees his orthodontics patients now, and Lisa (hygienist) left. Seems like the dentist and hygienist that I see change all the time. It would be better if that's not the case. I feel like I'm pushed to get procedures done in certain ways. e.g. Come back every four instead of six months, or get the complete instead of recall exam. There was a period when I didn't see a dentist at all (just cleaning with hygienist), and I felt like I was pushed into getting a complete exam done (i.e. get complete exam or no exam). No one explained to me what was happening. And when the receptionist explained to me what was happening, she made it sound like it was my fault. Or there was a payment that went from my insurer to me, that I didn't know about, and that was initially put as something of my choosing too, which it wasn't. The last straw was that I noticed infection control or prevention measures did not seem great. e.g. I noticed one hygienist or assistant getting supplies out onto the work table that was not for me (e.g. floss), when I was there for a permanent filling, so that meant the supplies was for the next patient, when I was in there? Seems like cross contamination could happen when that was done. Or I noticed that a hygienist might touch this or that surfaces (e.g. the door handle of the room's accordion door), with gloves on, and then touch my mouth/teeth, or touch the mouse or keyboard, with or without gloves, it seemed like attention was not paid much to infection prevention measures. Or a hygienist wiping the dental mirror on their sleeve, which seemed risky, even if they change gown between patients. Maybe that's me being a bit anal, but for sure I picked up on things that made me feel infection prevention measures could be better, and made me feel less than comfortable with the services provided. read more

I have been going to Bite Dental since 2012 when Dr. Rose and his wife first opened the business almost 12 years ago now, I believe. Although there have been many staffing changes over the years, I am happy to still have Dewi clean my teeth every couple of months these past few years. Her kind demeanor and gentle touch make visiting the dentist that much more tolerable. I have referred people who have become patients, and they, in turn, have also referred family members to attend Bite Dental. The newer team has worked hard this past year to give the location a fresh, clean look and to work with patients on deciding their healthcare/treatment rather than dictating to them like previous staff have from over the years. read more

Penultimate day in Toronto after 4 years so time to tie up loose ends. In that time I've had a ton of dental work done and am returning to Europe with infinitely better teeth. Hurrah! So, did the sheen wear off Bite after the first few sessions? I think that's a resounding NO. I'm so depressed to be saying goodbye and the thought of trying to find a new dentist and practice to match Dr Rose and his team is almost overwhelming! The receptionists are always smiling, the practice is spotless, the hygienists don't leave so much as a molecule of plaque behind, they will always squeeze you in if you need to be seen and the hours are fantastic for someone who works. Dr Rose took my mouth from constant emergencies and disasters to pretty stable. My mother, who told me that I really should stop spending time and money on my teeth and just get false ones instead, looked at me recently and told me that my teeth were lovely. Amazing! All this is wrapped up in a calm and friendly environment. It's lovely to feel like you have a say and you're part of the team looking after your teeth. Dr Rose gives options, doesn't upsell and had the patience of a saint. My most nervous friend wondered why she'd put off going to the dentist for so long after visiting. As for me, I've actually wondered just how feasible it would be to win the lottery and fly over biannually for my check-up and work. Crazy! But don't take my word for it. Go and check them out. He's fantastic but so is Dr Yeow and the newer members of the team were chosen because they have the same standards and attitude. You might find your own favourite! Only downside? During this pandemic I was forced to find a new dentist as my former dentist refused to do actual cleanings. I arrived at BITE dental, based on a recommendation, filled out paperwork and had my appointment the following week on August 17. The office was to contact my former dental office and get my file sent to BITE, inclusive of recent X-rays, before they would set up a follow-up appointment as I required a filling to be replaced and wanted to discuss cosmetic options. After not hearing anything for a month I had to call mid September to ask what the status of my next appointment was and was told that the office manager was dealing with it and that she would call me back. It is now October 8 and I still have not heard anything from the office manager or anyone else from this office. I will NOT spend another second dealing with this dental office and recommend that you don't even walk through the door. read more

I'll never go anywhere else... unless they molested me while I was under anesthesia. Then I'd have to go someplace else cause that's not cool. But there is none of that here. These people are great. I am blown away by the bloated amount of positive reviews. It seems seriously sketchy to me. I was a patient here close to four years and I am starting to see that I might have gotten overcharge. The staff who sits at the front desk are just okay. They seem to have problems finding out when doctors are available, having also mixed me up with other patients until I corrected them. I am also charged quite arbitrarily. There have been times when I can get discount pricing but then other times where they also have charged me for a 5 minutes examination to something close to $100 for 'emergency dental work' without finding anything wrong with me. I think it depends from dentist to dentist. It's questionable business practices. Another one I mentioned before is that there is a massive turnover with regards to dentists. I haven't seen one consistently since 2014, which is such a disappointment because I really liked that dentist. Okay, the major gripe I have is that the dentist I saw actually took like 6 x-rays and did not catch that I had a massive cavity in one of my front tooth. I had found out when I went to my orthodontist and they caught it. The fine folks at Bite Dental gave me fillings, which kept on falling out, requiring numerous follow ups and lots of pain. Unfortunately, I had to get root canal as a result of that. I would be extremely leery of this place despite the reviews here saying otherwise. Get a more experienced dentist if you do not want to shell out major cash for extensive dental treatment in the future. read more

Simply put, Bite Dental provides fantastic customer service, professional & friendly atmosphere, and great dental care. Dr. Yeow is a great dentist, she takes time to have a conversation with you and you build a rapport quite quickly. She offers advice on many topics, even if you're curious. You never feel rushed to be the In-Out patient. Sarina, the receptionist, is also very, very friendly. All staff as a whole definitely know how to run the business. If you're a student, they'll apply a 10% discount on all services after your insurance. The actual office is very efficient and looks to use the latest gear. Ceiling-mounted TVs with satellite, Xray machines digitally connected to a computer, your record file is integrated with their servers. I've checked, they're backed up nightly and are fully encrypted too! read more

Not sure what happened here but talk about going from a Hero to a Zero. (Was once a 5 start glowing review) Wife went in for some recent emergency dental work. The dentist who inspected her attempted to upsell her on work she did not need. Work that would have cost us 5000 to 7000 hard earned dollars. When my wife denied that they moved forward with the initial steps of the process he became quite combative and told her to leave. She went to another dental clinic and there wasn't even a problem. I'm gone there a few times and each time I've gone I didn't feel as if I was in a stuffy medical office. This is a great place to go if you just want the dentists to look at your teeth. If you want any actual work done, eg. filling, you should consider other places. I'm speaking from experience. I went in for to replace an old filling in January 2017. After it was done, the tooth became extremely sensitive when I bit on that particular side. This persisted for another 2 weeks. I went back for a total of 3 times to try to have them fix the issue, but none of the dentists were able to figure it out. Finally, I decided that enough was enough and that I should seek out a second opinion. I went to see another dentist. She told me that the tooth had a fracture, which was likely caused by drilling for the replacement filling. I'm not trying to blame any particular dentist at this office, but perhaps another dental office with more experienced dentists may help avoid needing additional work done after a minor filling. read more

I'm one of those people that doesn't hate dentist offices but still likes to put off regular cleanings and check-ups. This kind of office, however, might just change that. It's really been as pleasant an experience seeing the dentist can be! I've been here for a regular cleaning and check-up, as well as a wisdom tooth removal. The receptionist is always friendly and cheerful, I've been seen to speedily, it's really convenient to book and change appointments, and I *love* the TV on the ceiling :) Dr. Liang has also been great, and I am definitely going to keep returning here for all my dental needs. read more

After living in Toronto for two years, I felt it was finally time to find a dentist. I went straight to Yelp to find one and read all the fantastic reviews here, and wow, Bite Dental really is as good as everyone says! Booking the appointment was so easy! (You can do it by text message! Whaaat?) And the receptionist was the nicest and most polite person ever. When I came in for my appointment there were two women at the front desk and they made me feel so comfortable and welcome. Everyone that works there seems really young and full of energy and positivity! It really makes it a great place to be, and a lot less scary if you get going-to-the-dentist anxiety. Everything is really new and high tech and super clean. There are TVs on the ceiling that you can watch during your cleaning, how cool is that!? Everything is computerized... xrays directly to screen? This dentist is the future! To end my wonderful appointment, they made it so that the payment goes directly from my insurance company to them so I didn't have to pay hundreds of dollars up front. A lot of dentists don't do that anymore, so it was realllly great to have that happen, especially as a poor student. My parent's health insurance covered 80% of the treatment, and I payed $50 out of pocket, so since I'm bad at math, those of you without health insurance can calculate how much money it will cost for a full check-up with xrays and a cleaning. I'm definitely going to keep going to them. All other dentists seem prehistoric in comparison to the services they provide here. read more

Horrible experience so far! I and my family have been patient for the last 2 years with this clinic. Front desk staffs are extremely rude, has no sense of professionalism. They do a lot of mistakes for booking appointments and not being sorry at all. I left a voicemail to talk to the manager of this clinic regarding the booking issues and how I got treated on my last appointment. Nobody called me back, they have no care for their patients. However, you will get fast response If you write a Google review about them. They will make everything right on the review but in reality, they don't even respond to your voicemail. It is definitely overrated and the business practices seem pretty shady to me. I said overrated because, in terms of friendliness, the receptionists and doctors were average at best with the exception of the asian lady who did my cleaning was super nice. The doctors doesn't provide much of an insight into any dental issues you have, like a personal doctor should, instead you have to bring up the issue yourself and get a half response. I said shady because they don't provide details of procedures done and their proper fees with the receipt. I am assuming you have to specifically ask for them. Also, this one time, after I had a procedure done, all the insurance goes through and I made any remaining payments not covered by the insurance on the spot. Got booked for a second appointment and when I went to pay for the procedures done on the second appointment, the receptionist was telling me I got an outstanding balance from the first appointment due to some problem with my insurance. I didn't received any phone calls whatsoever with regards to this outstanding balance and this second booking, if I remember correctly, was weeks apart from first appointment. If there was insurance problem, it would not have successfully processed through in the first place. Moreover, their initial checkup felt like a total rip off. On my very first visit, got x-ray taken, random dude with lab coat walks in, took a look into my mouth and was barely willing to give some insights. Not sure if dude was even a doctor. Walks out after maybe 3 minutes. $100 for that lol. I am a student, so maybe they treat non-student different. But for those who are students, I would recommend a different dentistry. They'll try to book you for as much things as possible until your yearly school insurance runs out. I don't see much problem with it, except for the fact that the dentist doesn't seem to care about the patient and doesn't give much of an advice or opinions to your current dental issues. 1 star because of the my shady incident with regards to the insurance. It is a shame that I am changing my 5 star rating to a 1 star rating, but I am so frustrated with my experience today at Bite Dental that I will likely be changing my dentist altogether. I work as the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Health & Long-Term Care for Ontario. It means that I have a very busy schedule and therefore, Saturdays are the easiest day for me to schedule. On my last visit I asked that I keep the same hygienist moving forward (who is amazing by the way). This was marked on my profile. The main reason for this is that there has seemed to be a lot of staff turnover at the dentist level since I've been a member and I want some continuity of care which as someone who works in healthcare policy, I believe is important. I had also been given other hygienists who I didn't feel were as good. Upon arriving today I was given a different hygienist. I was given no warning before today or this morning before arriving to ask whether this would be OK. Now the hygienist was polite enough and did a perfectly fine job, but I was still annoyed. No heads up when I arrived at the office either. I was asked if I wanted a dental examination to which I basically said, I'm not sure what I had last time, whatever is appropriate. After getting home, I realise that I just had an examination 4 months ago in April when I was there. Funny, the code is different (01103) from anything I've had since 2015 (checking my insurance homepage), so it feels a bit like bill maximisation rather than patient centric care. After getting a quick 5 minute checkup from today's dentist whom I've again never seen before and isn't on their website, I am asked if my insurance will cover a broken capped tooth to which I say maybe. I am then told I should have this fixed immediately. The cap broke off my tooth, taking half my tooth with it, about 10 years ago or so. I was really impressed back in April of 2014 because the dentist basically told me that if there was no pain in the tooth, there was no need to do anything. The next dentist I saw in 2015 confirmed the same thing. My hygienist that I normally see is great with advice also and I feel like she is looking out for me rather than trying to maximise my visits/or billings. It really is a shame. Back in 2014/15 you would see the owners in the office and a lot of good reviews. It looks like the reviews in the past year or so have gotten much worse. I also notice that the Asian Dentist who I thought was an owner is no longer on the website. My entire experience today is making me ask a lot of questions about dental practices in general and I will most likely be switching to another dental office for my next visit which is a shame as the hygienist is really amazing. read more

I have been going to Bite Dental for three or so years now (usually twice per year) and have experienced nothing but professional, friendly service each time. I recently arrived at their office with an infected deep cavity (a battle I lost since it began many years ago prior to treatment at bite dental) and they went to work quickly to alleviate the pain. A follow up (with my choice of a root canal) was a blessing. The sound of a 'root canal' was far worse than the actual procedure and they were very attentive to any discomfort (which was minimal!) My fillings put in at Bite Dental keep falling off - so far I've lost four in less than a year. They put them in quickly while maximizing the amount charged - I feel profit is the number one priority and quality of work priority is very low. This was the strangest experience I've ever had at a dentist. Right off the bat they asked to keep my credit card on file for future potential charges - I declined this immediately. I was not consulted about how many x-rays were taken and it made me uncomfortable. I've been here 6 times now, every visit is so much better than any dental office has a right to be. I've seen both Dr. Rose and Dr. Yeow, and both are superb at their job. They're really good at making me feel at ease. Their establishment is so nice looking and comfortable, the equipement is all state of the art, the receptionists are super friendly, billing is always painless and suprisingly low. Such a warm and welcoming office. I was nervous to try a new dentist, but after mine retired, I didn't have a choice. Dr Katbab was amazing, knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything to me. The front desk ladies, Alana and Nilo were helpful and direct from my initial call to book. Front the knowledgeable front desk girls ( Neelu and Alana) to the most gentle hygienist (Jeng) and to the very soft-spoken and caring dentist (Dr. Ketbab), everyone is very sweet and welcoming. The service was good, easy to book appts, and I got my dental work all in in a timely way and I quite liked Dr. Yeow. Unfortunately, however, they miscalculated my benefits assuring me that I wouldn't go over. But, I ended having to pay out of pocket (and I have really good benefits) for stuff that would otherwise be covered had I waited until my benefits rolled over again next year. Maybe this is the consequence of cramming so much work into a short period of time (not all of it urgent), but I recommend keeping an eye on your coverage yourself if you chose Bite. read more

I found Bite debtal clinic online and after reading all those good reviews I decided to make an appointment with Dr Rose. I found him very patience, knowledgable and honest so I decided to go with the treatment. I am 100% happy with the result and I must say these comments are comming from a picky and perfectionist person. Dr Rose simply FANTASTIC. I could not be more pleased with the result. He is also very professional, reasonable and does not push to do things that are not necessary like many dentist I have seen so far. The staff are polite and nice. This place is great. The moment you walk in you're greeted by smiling receptionists. I had a girl named Young clean my teeth, and she was so thorough and gentle.... And the most calming, adorable human. If you're horrified of dentists, then ask for Young - she will erase your fears of drilling sounds! My dentist was Dr. Liang. Don't be fooled by his youth - the man knows what he's doing. I had a couple fillings to do and he did an awesome job. His assistant was great too! It's so hard to find good dentists/doctors these days. This place isn't cheap, but if you have insurance, go for it! One bad thing: they don't give you a loot bag at the end of your stay! If you're still wondering about Bite then wonder no more - This place is great. You'll love everyone over there, they're so professional and nice people to chat with especially Pamela. I've been to quite few Dentists in downtown TO and all wanted me to go with a crown instead of a filling and this could have cost me thousands - they all wanted my money. Got it fixed at Bite with a filling as it turns out the molar's base was completely fine and can withhold a filling rather than goin with a crown. I can't believe how other dentists wanted to rip me off - all they were saying "it's a matter of time before this thing blows, a time bomb". It turns out that all I needed was a filling. Convinient downtown location. Easy to get appointments without having to wait weeks. Lovely atmosphere (who doesn't love a tv on the ceiling and the remote in yourhand?) Nice desk staff. I am 57 years old and have had many dentists in my lifetime. Without question, Dr Rose is the very best. I went to see him for a consult after my brutally honest grandson asked what was wrong with my teeth. I had permanent staining on several teeth and I had started to contain my smile because of embarrassment. Dr Rose spent time with me explaining my options in detail and came up with a very manageable solution to my problem. I am thrilled with the results. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone not satisfied with their current dentist or someone looking for a new dentist. Dr Rose is young and knowledgeable and will have your best interests in mind while taking care of your dental needs. I am thrilled to have found him. read more

I have had 3 different dentists over the last 5 years - Dr. Liang is the only one that takes time to explain to me what he will be doing and what that means. I prefer Dr Liang's conservative approach when it comes to cavity treatment: since the filling do not last forever and every time a tooth got drilled, it needs to be replaced by a bigger drill hole afterwards - years down the road the whole tooth need to be replaced. I would give Bite Dental 5/5, but I reduced by 1 as I am not impressed by one of the female dentists there I saw first, who wanted to drill 4 teeth when 3 of them is really not necessary. read more

Bite Dental is about bill maximization and not patient care. I went there a week ago due to a filling that fell out and the dentist decides that he will fill 2 other tooth but the one I went there for. On top of that he refuse to administer numbing agent that have me experience the most painful and uncomfortable dental treatment in my 40+ years. The dentist was more interesting in telling me about expensive procedures to make him rich and not on a broken tooth I went there for. I will never ever visit this clinic again. I've visited this dentist office twice. The first time I had a quite positive experience, the second and most recent time, not so much. The second time I visited Bite, I had to wait approximately 40minutes before I was seen. The dentist was awful. I had to wait 10 minutes for her to see me (ok, not so bad). However, when she did see me it took a total of 30 seconds to which she said I had 2 small cavities and was out the door to see another patient. I have never had cavities before, so obviously had some questions. I unfortunately did not have the chance to ask any given the blatant lack of care from the dentist. On top of which- she never introduced herself to me so I have no idea what her name is. This wasn't even the kicker to my experience. After being in Bite for almost 2 hours, as I was waiting to pay, the same dentist came out to speak to the three receptionists. The dentist explained that the patient that she was currently with could not have the full procedure she came in for because she didn't have time for xrays and could not get xrays from her old dentist office. The patient would therefore have to pay for this appointment, come back, and pay again. The dentist then walked away. The three receptionists awkwardly discussed amongst each other who would deal with it and what they would say. After about 10-15minutes of this, one of the receptionist finally turned to me so that I could pay. Update on January 25/18: The office manager (I believe her name is Alex) gave me a call and had me back in the office to see the dentist (I believe his name is Dr. Liang) I originally saw. In short: his opinion differed from the dentist i saw during my second visit. Dr. Liang was more thorough with his explanation of what was going on with my dental hygiene and opined that fillings were not required. read more
