Today I went to the dentist for the first time in... none of your damn business…read more I was truly expecting to be floss shamed, cavity ridden and ridiculed for being a mediocre grown up. This was not the case. The hygienist was excellent and explained everything as she did things, let me watch Netflix on my iPhone, and asked if I needed breaks when I winced during the cleaning. Please don't let this last line deter you, the wincing is because I'm a wuss and again, deserved to be floss shamed. My new dentist, Dr. Walden was lovely, understanding, quick yet thorough and I definitely trust her with my smile. They're taking new patients, and if you have insurance they take the payment directly from your insurer which is mighty handy. Say cheese!

Often, in the past, when I go to a new dentist, I get the reaction of "Ooh, it's been six months…read moreplus one day since you last saw a dentist? [shaking head sympathetically] Tsk, tsk. [gesturing vaguely to invisible problems on an Xray] Well, I'm sorry, but here's the list of 14 things that NEED to be done. You do have insurance, right?" This was so not my experience here. I explained that my insurance runs out in two weeks and I have a sore tooth, so they squeezed me in to a short-notice cancellation. Two points for them there. I arrived late (my bad - had the address wrong) but they still whisked me in fairly quickly, and everything was done quite efficiently. I've been going to older-fashioned dentists in Oakland, CA where the Xrays were still being done with that horrid cardboard stuff and put up on lightboxes, so the digital ones that went on the overhead TV were kinda cool. Nice to be at a 21st century office. Dr. Walden and the hygienist were both really, REALLY nice. They were friendly and helpful, explained what they were doing and what the jargon meant, and despite the fact that it's been about 18-20 months since I'd seen a dentist, were not patronizing or casting about for things to stick my insurance company on. Actually, Dr. Walden was quite complimentary on my oral hygiene - so many dentists are rude or patronizing about it. The only problem they did find made complete sense (the corner of a 30-year-old filling was broken off on the tooth that was sore - now I understand why the floss kept snapping!), and the receptionist offered to fit me in this afternoon to get it fixed. Like other reviewers have said, no one LIKES to go to the dentist, but when they make it an almost pleasant experience, you can dislike it so much less. Addendum: I'm back from having that filling fixed. I will admit that dental work and needles in my mouth terrify me - a previous experience with an awful dentist in California that left me unable to chew on the left side of my mouth for *three years* - and Dr. Walden was very, very considerate and careful dealing with an obviously extremely uncomfortable patient. She kept up a reassuring patter throughout, interrupting herself frequently to keep me in the loop about what she was doing, explaining, checking on me, at one point informing me that I might want to clench my hands just a wee bit less since one of my fingers was clearly losing circulation... I sent my neighbour to her recently, too. His assessment? "She rocks!" And how often, I ask you, does someone hear THAT about a dentist? Second addendum: Have -you- ever heard of a dentist who emails you at 9pm on a Saturday evening to check how your new filling is holding up? I hadn't, either. Until Dr. Walden.

If there is one thing we all share as a race is that nobody really enjoys going to the dentist…read more They are scarying beings really - they cover their mouths and look into your mouth with layers of glasses while you're lying on a table with brightest possible light in your face. The sound of drills and smell of a dentist office is...far from pleasant and really makes you want to run the other way, even if it was leading off a cliff. Well not anymore! I have now become a fan of going to the dentist thanks to the friendly and caring staff at this office. The first impression is "Omg, you're straight out of the 80s, need some reno." you sit down and you see a wall filled with drawings by little children expressing how much they love their dentist and you think , "you are so in for a rude awakening." I felt like an 8 year old again sitting in this aged place -and you know what? I like it. I like it better than sitting in an slick office with sterile EVERYTHING that you're afraid to breath lest you contaminate . I hope they never reno - it goes well with the caring and friendly staff who run this tiny office, that never fail to give you a "you had a great check up;I knew you can do it" bag - something I haven't received since I was a wee thing, and I confess, it made me want to care about my teeth more. Every time I leave here - I feel well taken care of . You know that feeling you have - when your grandma takes care of you with her old remedies? you just feel completely at ease because you're in good hands? Well, that's what I get here -they're like - family...ish?? They don't have state of the art equipment here- but that's okay - because there is some human touch here -and even the dentists seem to really care. I've had my teeth looked at by all three dentists that work here - and they have always been nice, funny and concerned about my teeth and oral heath. It sounds like a horrible cliche but I felt like they really were honest, caring dentists. If you are all about going to a place with all the high tech equipment - this may not be for you(I went to one on Bay - and all my fillings also fell out- the equipment couldn't help a bad dentist); but if you want your visit to be pleasant and want to go to a dental office that genuinely care about your oral health - though they may not have the best equipment - this is definitely recommended. ANOTHER MAJOR PLUS POINT: THEY ARE OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK!!!!! :)

Guys, everything that everyone is putting in the comments about Dr. David IS TRUE. Please listen to…read morethem. This was my experience with Dr. David, from the fall of 2025. I first came to this Dental Clinic because it is in my neighbourhood, all the staff were extremely nice, and my dentist, Dr. Medhi, was especially kind. He explained to me that he thought I needed some fillings. So I scheduled them with the clinic, only it would be a different dentist. Sounds fine right? I go in for my filling and to fix a chipped tooth (just another small thing from a fake tooth) and even though I had to wait 30 min it was fine. Then things quickly went downhill. Dr. David was doing my dental work. He kept on pressing down on my throat while examining my teeth, making it hard to breathe and extremely uncomfortable. Not to mention his commentary while doing his work. Talking about how genius RFK and Trump are, saying sugar causes Alzheimer's, just general derogatory, uneducated comments. I was thinking how tf did this m*therf*cker graduate? Then he says something about how he was going to file down my canines. I asked what the medical reasoning was for this. He said it was just aesthetic, I said hellllll no. We get to the filling portion and he asks what I want to fill with. Never did I think there was a choice in this. He explained that silver lasts longer. I said I had no problem with that. He says oh good, well most women your age want the enamel to match with the teeth (in a very demeaning tone), it was in the back of my mouth so I didn't really care, I just though it was a slightly demeaning and misogynistic comment that coupled with the rest of his comments and actions made me even more pissed at him. Post-fix I go look at my tooth. The entirety of the top of my tooth is silver. I was pretty shocked, as I had a previous dentist not even 6 months earlier, who did see the cavity but said it was small enough to just watch and observe if I needed a filling. Pretty suspicious that he had to dig so deep and wide... OH and you thought it was done, no. I still have to fix the small chip in my fake tooth, right? He didn't do it correctly, f*cked up my bite, and I had to come back in, cause he rushed it. Very uncomfortable, bad experience. Not cause of the clinic at all and the hygienist was perfectly lovely it's just this f*cker that's the problem in my opinion. Went to look him up and I found everyone here sharing similar stories, I am so sorry to you all. Also did some legal searches, this clown was suspended in 2006 and after a complaint in 2017 he had to be monitored for a year and a half (https://www.rcdso.org/find-a-dentist/search-results/dentist?id=11753#Complaints). Imagine going over a decade and not improving, couldn't be me. I hope this is helpful and validating to others. I swear I am not a hateful b*tch, but I had to say something.

There are a few times in your life when you need a great dentist! And Dr Tom is the one for me…read more Saved me back in 2004 I was In college and I hadn't enough for a root canal. He Pulled the nerve for me, which was an inexpensive fix and I went back to college to find the cash for my root canal. Saved my molar when others wanted to just extract it! Fillings, root canals and caps! He is a caring , thoughtful and gentle doctor. And I'm lucky to have found him . They even have parking round back! I can't say that he will do the same for you I can just tell you what he's done for me. And he's changed my life with the dental work that he's done. For a very reasonable amount of money.

"Best experience ever" Dr. Tom Manh Nguyen: This is no exaggeration nor is it a joke…read more I have hated going to the dentist for as long as I can remember. The trauma was such as a child that my mother would never tell me when we were going to the dentist. However, when we turned that corner and realization struck of our destination all hell would break loose. I would scream all the way to the dentist, in the dentist office, on the dentist chair and all during the appointment until we left and I was sure we were not going back. My phobia for the dentist did not improve through the years and my reluctance impeded my ability to do preventative oral care. I visited the dentist only when I had no other alternatives. Hence my visit with Dr. Nguyen on September 8, 2017, I. Had. No. Choice. I developed an infection in a broken root canal. The infection further advanced into a fistula and erupted draining into my mouth. To say I was in pain doesn't cover the half of it. The teeth had to be extracted, it could not be saved. Dr. Dang another fabulous dentist who did my initial exam referred me to Dr. Nguyen. Dr. Tom Manh Nguyen was fantastic. Number one, he listened while I blah blah about being terrified. He took the time to explain the procedure step by step. He told me what to expect in terms of discomfort. I elected to use laughing gas (nitrous oxide gas) and forgo Anesthesia which was too expensive. Dr. Nguyen went so far as to explain what the laughing gas will do, how it would feel. The only thing i felt was a slight pressure from the needle into the gum after that nothing. I know he was working on my mouth because i was conscious and could hear everything. He would reassure me periodically, "you are doing fine," "you are doing a good job," and will ask intermittently how I was doing. When he was finished I was surprised. I asked incredulously, "you're done?" He smiled and says, "Yes, I am all done." To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I sat through that whole procedure without a peep. I was able to get up with no pain and take myself home on the subway! Am I singing Dr. Nguyen praises, hell yeah! He did a fantastic job. Most doctors don't realize that outside of their procedures how they handle the patient is everything. You go in scared out of your mind and it does a world of good when you encounter a doctor that can reach you on that human level and let you know you will be alright. So if you have a phobia like I did and scared spit-less like I was then get a referral to Dr. Nguyen at Bloor Dufferin Dental on 1108 Bloor West, he'll take good care of you. Thank you Dr. Tom Manh Nguyen. You made my day and change the way I see/view dentists. Rhapsody (D.B.S)
