I would highly discourage anyone from considering Portrait Dental. I booked with them based on location and online reviews, but will not be back. Upon some followup research, I believe that the majority of positive online Google reviews are generated by the marketing management team at Dawson Dental. I wanted a cleaning and a rebonding of my front tooth. I've had this done before, with the same time between dental visits, and it was done in one appointment, not a big deal. Under two hours - not a severe case. This place dragged my process out to three separate appointments, used up my entire year's worth of dental insurance plus hundreds of dollars more, and they did not even end up giving me a full restoration of the front tooth. Instead of rebonding, it was suggested that I remove the initial bonding, which we did, but this involved under five minutes of shaving a tooth upon my final appointment. I was provided a supposedly complimentary whitening kit to use at home and asked to come in for yet another followup visit. Meanwhile I was charged as if they had provided full, end-result service. As a new client, you are required to take 1.25 hours upon initial visit to sit through an exam and diagnosis. I believe that they prefer to dizzy you with unnecessary details to waste time. I was not once during my three visits given a straight talk-through on what to expect. Their goal is to keep you coming for more appointments. Do your research -- this practice is all about the hustle. The front desk and hygienists are absolutely friendly, but there are so many better, more adept and honest dental providers in the dt that are worth putting your mouth, money, and time into. read more

The Dentist is great, administrative staff on the other had is just awful! My first visit was great the place is clean, staff seemed nice. I quickly learned how DISORGANIZED the staff is. I've experienced multiple incidents that have me and my partner looking for a new Dentist. They have a text messaging system that is just incredibly annoying. I received one text advising me I had been overcharged and requested that I update my address to be refunded. I thought it was odd to get a text versus a call with someone apologizing for their mistake. I promptly called and updated my address. A week later I get the same message, I call back, my address is up to date. I assumed it was an administrative error and gave it a pass. One month later I get the message again and I call back, they promise its been corrected and request to no longer receive text message alerts. Then it happens again, I call back and finally get reimbursed about 3 months later. I had booked my 6 month follow up appointment immediately after to ensure I had a set time that worked for me with the hygienist I liked. I received a call on the day of my appointment letting me know I was 30 minutes late to my appointment. This was the result of me requesting to be taken off the text messaging alerts. I did not receive prior notification of my upcoming appointment. They said I received an email as well and gave verbal confirmation of my appointment over the phone. Which did not! My email was incorrect in their system and had to be corrected, I had to reschedule my appointment and the earliest I could get was 2 months out. The straw that broke the camels back was my partner also having an awful experiences. On multiple occasions his follow up appointments have been rescheduled. There was one instance where he received a call to reschedule and later on the same day was called again by the admin to see if his reschedule appointment could be moved again. They have also overcharged him and since has been seeing this Dentist he has NEVER had an appointment not be re-scheduled on him. Its such a shame to have to look for another Dentist and hygienist. Its so hard to find ones that is as great as this place but the management of the place is just so horrible and frustrating that I just cant see myself going back. read more

Portrait is the nicest and most pleasant dental office I've been to in toronto, aside for the office being super clean the staff are on point from the front desk staff, to the hygienist Arieanne who was aside for being super nice, she cleaned my teeth better then they ever have been by anyone. Dr. Gabay is a great dentist who does not sugar coat it, he tells you the facts and recommendations but it's up to you to make the call armed with the facts, that is exactly how I want my medical / dental info delivered. I am really happy with the treatment I've received from dr Gabay, and have recommended him to friends. I have been to other King west liberty dental offices and nobody comes close to the team at Liberty specifically Hygienist Arieanne and Dr. Gabay read more

Portrait Dental - Inside - Cosmetic Dentists Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

My recall appointment was very bad. Due to traffic, I knew I was going to be 10 minutes late, so I called in advance to let them know. When I arrived, the receptionist told me to wait for 10-15 minutes - OK, fine because I was late. But, I ended up waiting for 45 minutes! I mean - I did call to let them know about the 10 minutes late. It's not like I would not show up for the appointment. Not sure why I had to wait that long while the time was supposed to be reserved for me. I was more disappointed when the dentist literally took 5 minutes to finish the check-up. He didn't even review my previous examination with me. Plus, as I waited for too long I asked the receptionist if I could cancel and rescheduled. She said it would be $125 fine. Wow! I am going to cancel my next appointment and will find a better place. read more

I'm gonna be honest, I originally opted to go to Portrait Dental originally because I received a promotion in the mail that included a 50$ gift card if I made an appointment with them. I figured why not, considering they're located close to home and I also really like $50. I didn't really know what to expect or whether it would be better or worse than my previous dental office but I was pleasantly surprised with my overall experience. The girls at the front desk were super friendly and were very helpful when it came to answering questions about what my insurance would and wouldn't cover. I had a dental cleaning done, and the experience was a thoroughly enjoyable, albeit painful experience, but that is largely due to my aversion to the art of flossing. All in all, I look forward to my next appointment at Portrait dental. read more

I started going to Portrait dental about a year ago and this is probably the best dental office I've ever been to. Really knowledgable and patient staff. The hygienists take their time with you to explain everything that's going on, and Dr Kosta is absolutely amazing. Have never felt looked after with such care by a dental practice. Also, the back room when you get your dental exam done is unbelievable - very cool decor and giant screen TV for entertainment and then to walk you through your x-rays! read more

I had a great first experience with Portrait Dental. My hygienist was kind, polite and informative. I've been to many dental offices over the years and this one far exceeded my expectations. The office itself is beautiful and every little detail has been well thought out. The pricing seems to be a tad bit more than some of the other offices, but worth every penny... even if you do not have insurance coverage (btw - they auto-bill so you don't have to pay out of pocket). It's clear to me that customer experience is high on their priority list and all the staff seem to embody the same level of culture. read more

I left my old dentist and tried out Portrait Dental in Liberty Village and havent looked back. Clean office. Friendly staff. Good experiences. I've recommended this location to friends. read more

I was looking for a new Dentist, and found this office through OpenCare. I have nothing bad to say. I have heard horror stories about people who switch Dentists and suddenly, they need all kinds of work done. Not the case at all! Dr. Kosta was very thorough and let me know what needed to be done and what didn't (I already knew what was needed, so no surprises there). She provided me with more information about my oral health after my initial appointment than I had received in 15 years with my last Dentist. She is very down to earth and trustworthy. The staff are also super friendly. Highly recommend. read more

Gorgeous office and very flexible hours. The dentist I saw was competent and friendly, although any questions I had were snobbishly dismissed. Would liked to have had meaningful conversations, not just pushed through procedures without any discussions. Still, it was better than the hygienist, who kept dishing out insults about me, while doing a really unprofessional cleaning. Will definitely be finding a new place. read more

The staff is professional, friendly and once you actually see a hygienist it is great service. However, there is a huge issue with their scheduling. I have booked 3 appointments with Portrait Dental and 2 out of the 3 appointments I received a call from them saying "there has been a scheduling confilict" and they need to reschedule my appointments (super frustrating). Also the first time I was scheduled to go in (after they rescheduled my appointment) was at 6:30pm I didn't see the hygienist till 7:30, they made me wait for an hour without communicating to me that there was an issue they had to prioritize over me (again super frustrating/ unprofessional). All and all convenience is the best part of this office if you live in Liberty Village but be prepared to receive calls from them rescheduling your appointment. read more

Great dental office. Friendly, efficient, modern, fast, on time, professional, I could go on and on. Recommend.

I got an appointment for a consultation really quickly and they put together an entire treatment plan that we got pretty much all done in less than 3 months before my benefits ran out. They were always courteous and mindful of my needs. They even work after regular business hours to accommodate everyone's schedules! Would be cool if the dentist rooms were more warm welcoming toned than bright white/grey with some meditative music and to slow things down a bit at the start instead of getting into the chair and going. My own fault for not asking for more time to calm myself. I've had cleanings, and fillings done no complaints on the work done. read more

It was an amazing cleaning session. My hygienist Andrianna went an extra mile to take the photo of my back teeth which had some coffee stains before and after cleaning.I enjoyed it thoroughly. read more

Just terrible, avoid Dr. Gabay. They charged me to cause me great pain and not fix my tooth. I had Dr. Gabay and he was supposed to fix a filling that had fallen out. After a few attempts to freeze me he asked if I was frozen. I repeatedly told him I wasn't. Instead of attempting to freeze me again he instead informed me he didn't have time and he tried to work on the tooth anyway. I was in so much pain the second he tried to work on the tooth that I was yelling and in tears. This was not enough proof that I wasn't frozen and he attempted to work on the non-frozen tooth again. Then I shot up out of the chair in tears and left the office. I'm so traumatized that I just live with the broken tooth even though the pain is so bad I can't chew on that side. This wasn't the end, they had 150$ credit on file and flat out refused to send it to me, they then told me it was applied to my balance from the day I left the office. That's right they charged me to cause me great pain and not fix my tooth. read more

A new dentist experience for me. Very conveniently located, with ample parking options. Staff are always very professional and greet you with a warm smile. I have visited for both cleaning and to have dental work completed and both experiences have been great. In both cases staff were very thorough and proficient, in the work that they conducted. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a modern professional dentist. read more

Every time I have gone to this dentist I've left so unhappy. On two different occasions.. I went in to follow up on work Dr. Gabay had done during my previous visit and he tells me there aren't any notes on my file of him doing specific work, therefore "he did not do it". Every time he makes sarcastic remarks and tries to make me seem crazy. So unprofessional! How can you forget to make proper notes on a patients file, charge them for it, then tell them you never did the work?? This place is such a joke. I will never go here again! read more

Great service at Portrait Dental from start to finish. I hate going to the dentist in general but I don't mind visiting this very professional practice with a great welcoming staff and very capable hygienists and dentists. Brittney does a fantastic job with cleaning and causes very little pain. Highly recommend! read more
