Let me do a review of this place now and I hope you listen as I am not sponsored in any way shape or form for this review . I need difficult time finding other places to watch my dog. Too many of the dog kennels had people running it. They were running, ragged, unprofessional, and unwilling to work with me. Then I came upon this place . I visited the place looked at the reviews, and actually had a chance to talk to a customer that had used them in the past.. The customer had glowing reviews of this place . I was still kind of hesitant, but we decided to board our precious dog at this place. She is my service dog as well, but I could not take her with me on this long journey that I went on. I had changes and requests beyond normal. I thought they would become angry in response and it was my fault. I was pleasantly surprised with how quick and direct the communication was. They were soooo accommodating and it eased my mind. They helped and were so kind in how they responded. Our dog also eats a raw diet, which is about twice the amount of food as normal due to digestion because it's raw she needs to eat more. We do this diet, not just because of health reasons, but because it keeps her teeth perfectly white and clean. they were able to accommodate her special diet. I think they were not used to doing before because most people feed their dog kibble. Even when we picked her up, everybody was so nice to us and how they spoke with us and treated her very kindly as well as us. We will definitely be using them again. I can't say that about the other places we've used in the past of all. All those other places actually treated us like they didn't need us. They were unwilling to accommodate in any way shape or form, and we're demanding. Please consider using this place above the others and yes, we even visited the place down the street and we're unwilling to deal with that place with how they treated us. This place is not very expensive, but even if they raise their prices some we would still use them. Thank you!

It was his first time getting the full service, bath and cut. I came back a bit early to check on him and they did a great job of calming him down. The people that work there are very friendly. You are promptly greeted by the staff. I would definitely recommend this place to my fellow dog owners just because I've had bad experiences with shops like petsmart. They handled my first timer very well and I plan to take him back several weeks from now for another grooming day.

Thankfully our groomer Angel was fantastic and took such great care of our pepper!! She was very kind and listened to our concerns, making sure to reassure us that Pepper was in good hands. The grooming took 3 hours which was perfect for us, ran some errands! I take both of my dogs to Katherine. I have a toy poodle and a standard poodle. They both get…read moreanxious during grooming sessions but my standard poodle gets snappy when scared even with sedation medication . It has been such a challenge finding a good groomer that is willing to work with him or when one does they won't trim his face. No blame against those groomers that having a standard poodle is just not something that can be skipped. The first visit for my standard poodle went as expected for him, which he growls and snaps once he gets to a point of being scared. Katherine was super patient with him and even sent me some videos and photos along the way. She was also super understanding about how fearful he is with grooming and expressed that she is willing to work with him at future grooming appointments which really goes a long way for me. He has now had his 2nd appointment and he's already doing better.

My parents have adopted their baby here in 2016, my…read moreclose friends adopted their baby here in 2019, and now my partner and I have added a second baby to our family from here, as of last month. Their customer service is outstanding. They engage on Facebook & their friends of YCAS website is easy to navigate. I will admit I reached out to other shelters simultaneously for meet and greets, and I will tell you they were all soooo difficult. YCAS made it so easy for us! I filled out an inquiry form and someone got back to me same day. They were flexible with my schedule as my boyfriend couldn't get the time off work and we had to push out our meet & greet to Saturday (called on a Monday). The staff were very helpful there and introduced us to another dog in addition to the one we came to see. They know dog people when they see them, and trusted that our dog would be comfortable/safe meeting our new potential dog. All went well! The checkout/adoption process is easy. The staff at the front desk are knowledgeable and helpful. We couldn't believe the adoption fee was such a great deal, we definitely donated more. We are just about a month out of adopting and it has been such a smooth transition. Thank you YCAS!

You really have to wonder if the people running things here don't actually want dogs to get adopted…read morefor some reason. They are appointment only; bold choice, but I guess I get it if you only have the budget for one person to handle adoptions or something. They require you to bring any dogs you already have to the shelter with you; I can't imagine that the majority of dogs wouldn't be extremely stressed out being brought into a shelter which would make any interaction with another dog at best, less than accurate of how they will interact in a home. They are weird about footwear. I emailed the adoption person and explained that my dog gets extremely carsick but would I still be able to make an appointment to adopt a dog. She replied that it was STRONGLY recommended but exceptions could be made on a case by case basis and which dogs was I interested in? I sent the names of the dogs. She couldn't be bothered to get back to me. Ok then. Normally I would say that at the end of the day, management has the right to do whatever they want. However with this type of thing I think that no, you don't. What you have is an ethical obligation to act in the best interest of the animals in your care. Having extra hoops to jump through and prohibitive protocols is not doing that. We ended up adopting a very sweet dog from the Sac SPCA. And we weren't required to make our other dog violently ill to do so. Or wear special shoes. Just saying.
