I've been taking my dog for grooming here for a few years now. One of the few places I could find that does hand stripping for my wiry terrier mix. The staff love my dog and provide great service. A bonus is that the salon has a vendor available every two months for dental cleanings. (The vet was impressed with my dog's teeth at our last visit, and his breath is a lot better now with regular dental care.) I no longer take my dog here and there is a reason, one of the last times I took him here, when I walked in to pick him up, one of the ladies at the front was yelling at my puppy. When we had asked her why she was yelling at my puppy it was because he was whimpering lightly, then I proceeded to let her know that he was whimpering because he was letting her know that he had to go to the bathroom. She then proceeded to tell me that a full grown dog should be able to hold it for four hours. I looked at her and told her that he is only puppy, she looked at me all dumbfounded to tell me that she didn't know. I was told that they do keep notes there, the first time I took them there and it was on file. I have proceeded to ask her don't you guys keep notes she said no we don't keep notes then I looked to her and said that's kind of funny because he's been coming here since he was four months old (he was 7 months at this point). It wasn't his first time here, he been here once a month for the last 3 months. Its so weird that one person tells you one thing and another person tells you another. I wanted to love this place but that experience left us on a sour note. The entire team is incredibly skilled -- my dogs always come back looking beautiful, feeling great, and clearly well cared for. Trigger warning animal abuse this is to anyone that can help. We picked up our Pup from Feldspar. And the owner abused, our dog right in front of us after asking her to even out the face ( one side is longer than the other) she walks up to her, grabbed her by the fur with a fist and moves her around aggressively while yelling at her. My husband and I were in shock and my husband pulled her away ( saying " let go" multiple times, as I told her we are never coming back here that was abuse and she said "no it's not. We do this to every dog. " I called back to get her name. She said she's the owner and this is how "she trains every dog" she doesn't see it as animal abuse. I have called non-emergency and I am waiting for an officer to call me back. I don't want anyone's dogs abused that go there. I don't know what to do. Our dog has one of the sweetest temperaments, and this is coming from every dog sitter we've had using Ashley's pet grooming services. They even let us know as soon as Luna comes up on the calendar they try to grab her as soon as possible because she's such a sweetheart, it breaks my heart that we took her somewhere where they abuse her. read more

Read the comments and reviews from our neighbors on Nextdoor and wanted to give it a shot last month. Our Maxwell is a rescue and he is a pretty reactive Golden Retriever. So I wanted make sure everything would go right for him and the groomer since that was his first time. I took him there few minutes early and he was barking after another dog so we waited a little bit, then we got in and he was all calm and curious. Don't know what happened there. :) He has long fur and curly feathers, so he is a work. When I got back there to get him, there was another dog getting groomed, Maxwell was waiting in a large dog cage and when he got out he was still calm, curious and looking so handsome! This is my boy Wes. I love him . We began coming to Feldspar when we moved to the area. Wes suffers from terrible separation anxiety. The staff from beginning to end took patience and care when grooming Wes. In the summer, Wes had a medical emergency that left him traumatized from being left in a crate at the vet, and he broke off a k9 tooth. Recovery was hard on both of us. When I brought Wes back in and explained we couldn't crate him anymore, they responded with all the appropriate accommodations one could need. He has been with them for 1.5 years. Postscript: I went back to my records and looked at prior grooming done by my former expert groomer in Woodland and see that I was having her nails trimmed roughly every 8 weeks. So this notion that she needs a trim every 2 to 3 weeks is hogwash. If you trim my particular dog's nails properly and short enough they do not need to be done that frequently. This, I suspect, was all about them making more money. Barely trim them and then the customer will have to come back sooner. read more

And then smash its face into the metal table as well. I stood there in shock, staring at her clearly she did not hear me come in. She had her AirPods in, and there was another employee blowing out another dog. Have been bringing our dog here for a while now. On his most recent visit, he was returned to us with a bunch of painful cuts near his inner thigh and stomach. Worker blamed my dog for scratching himself when his feet literally cannot contort to that angle. So you cut my dog and then lie about it and charge us over $100 to do it. Had you just said, "we had an accident and he got knicked by the razor", that would have sucked but honesty goes far in building a good relationship and trust with your clients. I now don't trust you with my animal and you are losing us as a client. I will also be sure to spread the word. If you'll lie about that, what else will you/would you lie about. read more

When I adopted my sweet puppy Pomeranian whose father had the title of most beautiful Pomeranian in the country, and having had Pomeranians in the past, I knew I needed to find a groomer for him that was absolutely perfect! Pomeranians have an intense coat and require hours of careful clipping with a scissor or they can lose their coats for years...they need a very experienced groomer. After asking for referrals for a groomer from many of my show dog clients (I'm a veterinarian), there was only one person they all recommended to care for him, a master groomer named Ann Martin. Thankfully I knew Ann and she agreed to take Fritz on as her client. When we picked him up from his first haircut he was so happy and proud and he looked absolutely STUNNING! Went to pick up our dog and noticed she had an uneven trim around her face. Asked the groomer to fix it and she seemed very irritated. Our dog is 85 lbs. and she grabbed the dogs chin hair so tight the dog was unable to move and was in clear distress. The groomer then yelled in our dogs face to stop moving and kept pulling her back very hard towards her. I told her to stop and let go as it was clearly painful for the dog and she did not! I've been taking my two dogs to Feldspar for so long! So glad to have found Ann and Feldspar during my college years since they do a phenomenal job at making sure my pups look beautiful, groomed, and ready to go! She has experience with show dogs, so you know that her techniques are the creme de la creme! One of my dogs, Mishka, is a rescue from an abusive home, and he struggles with anxiety, and is extremely touch-averse. He'll even get snippy with my boyfriend if my boyfriend tries to pet him. Mishka hates being away from me for long periods of time. Previously, when we brought him to Petco grooming, he would dig his hind legs back and refuse to go in! At Feldspar, he runs in faster than I can walk, tail wagging a mile a minute! (I think he's secretly in love with Ann's gorgeous poodles!) I'm sure Ann has some secret magic, or is the pet-whisperer, since both my dogs love getting groomed here. Ann is an amazing groomer, and is so friendly! It is winter, and they asked me through the phone that if it is okay to shave the knots. However, I said yes because I thought they would do just like petco did for him, but the shave was ridiculous and ugly af. And also I noticed some shallow scars made by the shaver that can barely see his flesh, just was not bleeding. I just don't understand how could a pet grooming shave a long hair kitty like this during winter? Since that my Persian never slept in his bed but trying to get close to people because he felt cold. I have been going to this business for about 8 years and I have always trusted the all the staff including Ann and Brenda with my fur babies. I have a senior German Shepherd and an almost 2 year old German Shepherd who love going to the groomer because they get additional attention and love. After reading recent review all I have to say is there are alway two sides of the story. If any issue arises from any of the grooming sessions, the staff have always told me what it was and how it was mitigated. Additionally, the prices reasonable for what services you get. If you're looking for the best customer service, industry knowledge, and overall experience for dog grooming, look no further. They took wonderful care of us and our boy (3 year old Husky) and we're beyond helpful and professional with us. We missed several grooming over the last 6 months and as he was blowing his coat he was just a walking, talking, fluff ball covering everything he passed in impossible-to-remove white strands of hair. They quoted us at $65-$100 to get him completely taken care of and explained that they would likely blow him off prior to their dual-wash and brush process to ensure they remove all of his prior coat. Most other local places we called explained that they would do a single wash and brush and we get him with whatever is left. At Feldspar they took the time, and care, to "work until the job was done." The icing on the cake was walking in to find them playing with our boy by attempting to get him to "sing" as he was being extremely vocal with his "husky howls" and trying to convince him to Jose various pitches; whereas other (again, local) places we've dealt with expressed frustration in his vocal behavior while at their shop.
