I have 2 old cars and every now and again they need work done. I call these guys up, drop off the car one night and then the next day it's done and the bill doesn't give me a heart attack. ok, so I don't enjoy the bill, but they seem to be pretty fair with pricing and don't try and over sell you a whole bunch of things you don't need. I have now sent 2 other friends over and they also give positive feedback.

I've taken cars to him after going to the dealer for warranty work & hearing I needed non-warranty big bucks work done. Sometimes we've needed the work, sometimes not. But whenever it's been needed, it's been done well and for far less money than the dealer quoted. I send everyone here, can't it recommend highly enough.

I have limited knowledge when it comes to cars, but I easily could follow everything he explained. While my car was not salvageable (it sat for a number of years) he was honest with his advice (to get rid of the car and get a new one) since the amount to fix it would be more than the car was worth. All in all here is what happened with my service: 1) After speaking to him he took care of getting a tow truck to the house to pick-up the car and bring it to his garage 2) He stayed in contact with me as he investigated the state of the car 3) Gave me his honest assessment 4) Took care of getting the car picked-up by and delivered to a junk-yard If you are like me, you have had a poor history with mechanics - but not anymore, I'm sticking with Bob! Brought my electric car there this morning for an inspection sticker. When Larry put the Jack under my car, it looked like he went a little too far and was in danger of being on my battery. I said to him, I have a concern about the placement of your Jack, and this was confirmed when I heard a little crack when he lifted it. He said "I'm on the metal." I said yes that is the battery. You need to be on the lifting pad! He proceeded to say he can end the inspection right now and I can leave or I can let him finish the inspection. I said I would like you to finish, but I'm concerned that you're not on the lifting pad. He proceeded to end the inspection and came out and started yelling in my face, and physically pushing me off of his property while my car was still in his bay. The police were called in a report was written. If you would like damage done to your vehicle and to be physically assaulted when you state your concern, then I highly recommend and endorse Larry. Luckily, it looks like the battery cover was just scratched, and no real damage was done. But the potential was there.

Was billed $20/ea for spark plugs that retail for $8, $54 for a serpentine belt that retails for $20, and 3 hours labor even though the car had only been in their shop an hour and a half. The owner moaned about knocking $100 off. Still I paid $300+ for a repair that should have cost half that much. Avoid at all costs.

The sway bar bushings for my V40 consist of four separate components. I supplied these parts because the Volvo dealer doesn't stock them and I didn't want to leave my car for two or three days waiting on the parts. I also supplied an installation diagram as I know these bushings are often installed incorrectly, which is what in fact happened despite my best efforts. Rave discarded two of the parts I'd supplied in the process of installing the other parts incorrectly. The front struts and coil springs.that were installed incorrectly by Rave were Volvo OEM parts purchased from Rave Imports.

I went through a quart of fluid between Providence and Boston. I couldn't wait to get back to my mechanic in Toronto. Based on other Yelp reviews I contacted Nick's garage and Rave. I explained the situation to both and waited for them to call me back with a quote. Rave provided an estimate within an hour while Nick was still waiting for a callback regarding parts costs, but did estimate costs similar to Rave. I went with Rave, we looked under the car together and Dave pointed out the signs of what the problem is. While under the car he did check a few other steering related things like tie rods an ball joints. They also had chairs in the garage area if i wanted to watch them work. So the story ends up with a happy, very satisfied customer who feels the customer service, attention to detail, and swift but not too swift as to miss anything service put meback on the road the same day. The car drives like new again. Not bad for a volvo with 145,000 miles! PS. I always put any new mechanic through a slew of questions to see if he's a bullshitter or the real deal. They pass the "no bullshit" test. Thanks guys!

Don't waste your time and money!…read more Dropped my car off last week for 2 things. 1st issue--"First of all you need a software update. We can't work on the transmission without that. You need to take it to a dealership." (Weston Automotive) Dealership--"Your software is up to date. And even if it wasn't up to date, they should have been able to tell you what was wrong with the transmission and mix it." (Yes, the dealership correctly identified the problem.) 2nd issue for noise coming from around my tire. Weston Automotive said, "No noise detected. We couldn't hear anything and didn't see anything that needed repairs." Dealership--you urgently need a new control arm! Moral of the story--these mechanics are lazy. They didn't want to figure out what was wrong with my car. Probably because I dropped it off on a Thursday and they decided to close on Friday due to "lack of staff available." They just wanted a long weekend without my car staying there the whole time. What a waste!
