    DO NOT RENT A UNIT FROM MIDGUARD…read more I rented this unit in september.. i called midguard and told them i wanted to cancel in october as i wont be needing storage any longer and they said i needed 30 day notice (thiefs) so i ended up paying for NOVEMBER which my monthly recurring payments was on the 2nd of every month. They sent me a email i signed and returned it. Meaning we had a agreement of cancellation and november being the last month of use. On DECEMBER I was charged again !!! Its december 29th today and im about to be over charged again for JANUARY! I called midguard its been 3 weeks that we been dealing with this issue. For them to HELP me solve the problem and it only seems as if I'm bothering them. There is no interest coming from the MANAGER or "her boss" to help me get my money back. Today i spoke with the manager and she said there was a lock left on the unit which there is no way because i have the lock !!! Such BS ( check the cameras !) They also have cameras all over the units so i tell her check the cameras and she goes well im busy right now but go ahead and call your bank because we dont give refunds. (Again it has been 3 weeks and im still not priority) i just wanted my refund for being overly charged... Like whaaaattt???? I tell her to let me speak to manager she says shes the manager ok??? Well help me smh. Then i ask if i can speak to someone above her and she just says my boss just said to call your bank and cancel. So tell me what is the point of having all this email sign back and forth to cancel when they pulling this BS.. and not being cancelled Such a waste of time guys dont do it I dont recommend not one bit. They act like you taking their money. Very sad how they handled this situation. Im a very patient and understanding person but this went wayyy to far. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE !! PS... in the picture it shows the date and time i was there last. Its MY lock because when renting out a unit they dont provide free lock you have to purchase your own. Why would i leave my own lock after emptied all my belonging out?? Makes no sense. I paid 15$ for my lock no way i would leave it. Again bad bad service !!! Regret giving them my business.     Not yet impressed. I rented a unit on a 1st full month free promotion and my monthly charges have…read morenot been correct since then...but I remain hopeful. Right now they take your money, and when you get the receipt, that payment just posts against all the past incorrect charges and you are still "delinquent". PLUS, they are closed 2 days a week which causes a slight inconvenience if you are wanting to work it out in person. Last, if you want to get to your unit after standard hours, that will be an extra $10 a month to get the 24/7 access. The units themselves are basic, clean (for an outside unit that is bound to get some dirt over time) and do not appear to take on water during big storms. I will update the post if I get my billing straightened out and/or I find water after a hurricane comes through!

They…read moretell you when you reserve a unit online that the contract is not in place until you sign the contract and show your ID. Reservations not completed within the time frame were reverted. I specifically called to inquire about these two options, between rent and reserve, when on their site. Assured that if I only reserved and did not complete by signing the contract and showing ID, it would revert in a certain amount of time. This was not the case. I sold several of the items I was concerned about storing and called to let them know (the very next day) I would no longer need the reservation. No issues with the guy I spoke to on the phone; they would cancel the reservation, and I'd get my hold refunded within 3-5 business days. I waited a little over a week, but there was no refund. Called back multiple times before finally getting a return call. This time, the guy on the phone apologizes and states that the manager refuses to refund the reservation. I confirmed I did not sign the contract I was emailed, nor did I go in and physically sign one or provide ID. He agreed, but advised that management would not allow the refund. I left a request to speak with said manager, but I never received a return call. After multiple phone calls over a three-week period requesting to speak directly with management concerning the issue, I felt so bad for the poor guy answering the phones, who was obviously caught in the middle, that I finally just filed a claim with my bank. It's an obvious money grab situation. I've already advised seven different people at our complex who inquired about self-storage in the area, specifically not to use Martin's after this encounter.

The one lady that was there retired. She was on site very nice and she was friendly and she help you if you get lost in the storage room, she will always be there. Take payment. What have you now Fast-forward three years it is despicable. I hate doing business with them. They never contact you. They're never there on site sometimes I have to go there to pay my bill because for some reason my account is frozen or whatever and I need to pay the bill. I can't even go in to pay a bill because guess what no one's there and so you they tell me that they have people on site to help you technicians but the technicians act like they're they not invisible or whatever it's crazy out there and so now my bill is in delinquent right late payment well when I go down there can't get nobody. It's not my fault that the office is not there on operating hours. Was that supposed to be there right so the lady tells me oh you know we have technicians now so no one's there. It's all virtual no I need to talk to last person so you know what They also cut my lock off one time because it was the wrong unit. bad business is bad practice is bad customer service and I'm sick of it and tired of it so please take it for me. Do not ever never do business with go storage it !! All they do is take your money, idespicable despicable. They can't even hire real life people to work at the office.

So we scrambled and found a U-Haul rental place that had a truck we could rent that day. Lucky for us, Pinnacle Storage had one available. Pinnacle only had a 26' truck, which was overkill for what we needed. Beggars can't be choosers so we took it. Driving that 26' on those narrow roads in downtown was dicey as hell. Much respect to truck drivers that do this for a living. The rental process was easy and quick. Turn in was also easy. Only complaint about U-Haul in general is they advertise trucks for $39.95 a day; however expect the final bill to be a lot higher. Mine was $91 and I only had it for about five hours. Insurance (optional) and other fees really rack it up. Some notes about Pinnacle. They are right off busy 3rd Street. It is a real pain in the ass to turn left to get out of there. Also, dropping off a 26' truck back to their little parking area is also challenging. The staff treated me well. I would have no problems doing busy with them again.

The most recent lease in 2024 increased from $209 to $240 and again from $240 to $280 in less than 1 year. Their contract you sign gives them the right to increases. "Occupant acknowledges that such stated Monthly Rate may be increased by Lessor, at any time and by any amount, upon written notice to Occupant of such increase." We found rates at one-third the cost for the same size unit about 4 miles from division drive location in Castle Hayne. Only rent very short term from them and consider checking other options. We paid $775 this month in moving fees for approximately $3900 savings over the next 12 month at the less expensive location.
