I recommended this shop to my daughter because of the great reviews, and unfortunately, this experience was very frustrating. She brought her 2011 Volvo XC60 T6 in for an alternator/charging-system failure. The repair cost was around $900-$1,000, which seemed reasonable. However, when she picked up the car, the Check Engine light was on. She immediately returned to the shop, and they cleared the code, explaining that apparently a cable had been disconnected during the repair. After driving the car again, the ABS/BAS warning light came on. My daughter called me upset and frustrated. The shop asked whether she had driven through a puddle or over something hot, which she said she had not. They then diagnosed a bad ABS sensor and told her it would cost another $300 to repair. I have owned and worked around Volvos for more than 30 years and have owned more than five of them. In my experience, an ABS sensor does not simply fail coincidentally after this type of repair very often. I obviously wasn't there when the work was performed, so I can't say with absolute certainty what happened, but I am concerned that something involving the ABS sensor, wiring, or connector may have been disturbed during the alternator repair. What bothers me most is that my daughter is a young, inexperienced driver and was understandably inclined to trust what the shop told her. She is also a single-income household, so another $300 is not insignificant. I understand that this is a small family-owned shop and that unexpected problems can happen when working on an older vehicle. However, I would have appreciated a more thorough explanation of how an ABS sensor suddenly failed immediately after the repair, and whether the wiring or connector had been inspected for damage or disturbance during the alternator work. I recommended this shop based on its excellent reputation, so this experience was particularly disappointing. I hope the shop will consider taking another look at the situation and addressing my concerns. read more

I called them about an issue with my car battery and asked if they offered a free battery test. I had received different opinions from other shops, so I wanted to have it checked at David's because I saw good reviews. The lady I spoke with said they would offer the test and told me to come in. She was nice. However, when I got there, despite what I had been told over the phone, the mechanic refused to even take a look at my car. He just kept repeating, "No, you need a new battery." When I asked about the cost, he told me to call the lady and ask her, with a very dismissive and ignoring attitude. The whole interaction was sketchy and unhelpful. Came back at 430pm (after Calling three times) nothing was done, the response (Jorge just left an hr ago and isn't back) maybe it will be looked at by 730pm. A waste of a day. read more

After taking my Volvo XC90 2019 to a dealer that wanted to charge me an arm and a leg for repairs they could not even guarantee would give results, a neighbor referred me to David's Volvo, they diagnosed the car and got me a quote the same day and the car was ready for pick up the day after. The owners Lily and David were so welcoming, even made me a Cuban coffee while there. Service like this in todays day and age is hard to find. I have been nursing a 2002 C70 through its ups and downs routinely incurring $1000-2000 repair bills from Miami dealer shops, which, by the way, are short of mechanics who know the older cars well. After being told to just leave it with them for a few days until a mechanic could show up and give it a try, I found David's on a Web search and decided to give THEM a try. What a difference! First, from the initial call to the drop-off, they made me feel like they actually wanted my business and were there to help. Second, they diagnosed the problem and did the repair quickly and completely (and perfectly). And third, I was probably charged less than half of what I would have been charged at the dealer garage. The owners are great; mechanic(s) expert, and my car is running as I remembered it did in its youth. read more

I dropped by to have a headlight replaced. They quoted me $100 and said they wouldn't charge for labor. Sounded good to me. I call them back and make an appointment to have it done. When I show up they tell me it is going to cost $179 for the bulb. I said that it didn't sound right and they said ok, how about $150. At this point I decided to do some research and get back to them. I took the bulb out of the light and copied the numbers into the search bar. I ended up getting two bulbs for $78.00. Turn out you should replace them both at the same time. I didn't get screwed by them or anything and am not mad at them but I would suggest people to do a little homework and maybe get a second opinion with them on a big job. Be careful. read more

Davis's Volvo is a fraud! I took my car in February, they gave me a terrible service! keep my car for a month and they over charged me. cost me like 5000 and they didn't fix the problem. Honestly they think they are unique because they work with Volvos. They only take advantage of you and make some fake promises and lie and lie like they are in Cuba! The only thing they do good is ripping you off. Horrible business taking advantage of people. Do not trust them. read more

So happy I could be the first on Yelp to write about David's Volvo!!! Absolutely do not go here. They are lying pieces of shit. They fall into the breed of car repair people I fancy calling "listers," because when you go see them to get your battery replaced they give you a huge list of shit that needs to be repaired. I took my S60 sedan to David's to get my battery replaced and for the rear brake pads to be checked out (thought I had worn them down). Well, what happened when they called me for an estimate? They gave me a huge list of things, including changing my battery AND rotors. I told them to only change the battery (which was definitely dead). I then picked up my car and took it to another shop that I had seen positive reviews for. That shop recommended my rear link pads to be replaced, but said I still had 50% on my brake pads and also didn't need all that other shit. Usually my reviews on Yelp are funny. This is the sole exception because it's not funny getting fucked over by someone repairing your car. Go fuck yourself David's Volvo. read more

I serviced my 2007 S40 at the dealer's until I was recommended by a friend to take my car to David's for a quote. Not only Lilly and David are experts but they are sweethearts. They fixed my car in no time. Fixed issues that probably were there for a long time and the dealer never found or decided to leave there to create more bills for me in the near future. My wife was told her SUV needed a new AC COMPRESSOR at another shop, so I turned to my mechanic of over 25 years and my broke college days, David's Volvo Specialist. This mom and pop always greets you with nothing but smiles and if your timing is right a Cuban cafecito! They quickly diagnosed my vehicle as having a defective valve cap (like that of tire valve) that was causing the freon to leak out of the system. They removed the defective cap and charged my AC SYSTEM for a couple of bucks and I was on my merry way. Happy wife, happy life. Thanks David's Volvo. So lucky to have found this place! I have two 2005 Volvos that I love, a V50 T5 and the 5 cylinder XC90. I would not take them anywhere except to this awesome shop. they are hospitable, professional, fair, and honest. If you own a Volvo, and you like it and want it to last, this is the place to take them for they are passionate about all things Volvo and will always use original parts and charge you reasonably. I live in Cutler Bay but I don't mind the drive, they are centrally located so I always drop my cars off when I am on my way back from north Dade or Broward. They have even made suggestions of things that I could venture into doing myself just for the feeling of accomplishment, I definitely recommend this shop if you and your family enjoy driving your Volvo. read more

I paid to get my car repaired in February 2017, I paid about $2000 for an oil leak and other things they stated was wrong with the car It was backfiring and it had a few problems I know it had to be fixed. They told me that they will give me a free oil change and Oh my God they give me one to more trouble. After 8 months I took the car back for an oil change and after that my car started doing the same thing backfiring and the same thing. I told them my car wasn't acting like this until he touched my car. I bought the car back to them 8 months later which is today October 23, 2017, @ 10:00 am They mechanic check my car and came back and stated it's the coil and this need to repaired and that need to be repaired and it's going to cost another $1000. I said yes and walked right out of there. I thought these people were honest people. If you wanna just give money away this is the place to go. read more
