I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I feel it's important to share for anyone planning to shop here. We chose this David's Bridal location after seeing "walk-ins welcome" clearly stated on their website and drove over 45 minutes specifically because we believed we would be able to browse and receive assistance. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were told that walk-ins are only accepted if a consultant happens to be available, which is not something that was made clear online. What was most disappointing was not simply being turned away, but the way the situation was handled. From the beginning, the employee assisting us seemed visibly irritated by our presence, and when we calmly explained that we had made the long drive based on the website's wording, there was no attempt to offer a solution, provide clarification, or even show empathy for the inconvenience. Instead, the interaction felt dismissive and carried an unwelcoming "you're free to go elsewhere" attitude. For a brand as established and well-known as David's Bridal, I expected a much higher standard of customer service. A little understanding and professionalism would have gone a long way, especially given that the confusion stemmed from the store's own website messaging. My advice to future shoppers: DO NOT rely on the walk-in policy listed online. We had a very mixed experience at David's Bridal in Mission Valley, and unfortunately the return process completely ruined what started as a positive visit. My daughter is getting married on very short notice, so we needed a dress that was in stock and ready to go. We walked in without an appointment and were helped by Carmen, who was kind, patient, and accommodating. She squeezed us in for a 60 minute appointment, helped with measurements, respected my daughter's budget, and pulled dresses that were available in her size and price range. That part of the experience was great. My daughter found a dress she sort of liked but was not fully confident about, and because we planned to continue shopping elsewhere, we specifically asked about the return policy before purchasing. Carmen told us there was a 30 day return policy as long as the tags were attached and no alterations were made. Based on that information, we felt comfortable buying the dress. The dress was never worn outside of trying it on in the store, never altered, and never even taken out of the garment bag after leaving the store. When my daughter called her seamstress, she was told the alterations could not be completed in time. She continued searching and thankfully found another dress online that required no alterations. One week later, she returned to David's Bridal to return the original dress. That is where everything went downhill. She was met with resistance, questioned heavily, and then told they found a tiny snag on the dress and implied she caused it, even though the dress had never been removed from the bag since purchase. They eventually agreed to process the return but then informed her there would be a $50 restocking fee. No one mentioned a restocking fee when we asked about the return policy before purchasing. We were only told about the 30 day return window with tags attached and no alterations. Being told "it's on your receipt" is not acceptable, because the receipt is provided after the transaction is complete. Had we known about the restocking fee upfront, we would not have purchased the dress on the spot. This feels like a bait and switch practice. Policies like this should be clearly disclosed verbally and posted at the register, not buried in fine print after the sale. It is especially disappointing because the in-store service started out so strong. But the return experience wiped out all goodwill. We will not be back, and with two more daughters who will be getting married in the coming years, this was a long-term customer lost. Buyer beware! My experience was unpleasant from the very beginning. I came in looking for a dress with off-the-shoulder full sleeves, a corset style bodice, and a mermaid silhouette. I was never asked about my budget. The stylist showed me three different strapless options and reassured me that sleeves could be added later during alterations. Once I finished paying off my dress, I was told they could now have it shipped to the store. I was never measured during my appointment, and when I asked about sizing, they told me I needed to return for measurements so they could order the correct size. When I came back, their explanation was that the stylist was "just that good" at her job, which is why she hadn't taken my measurements initially. That response did not feel professional or reassuring. About a month later, I called to ask for a timeline on my dress and was told it had already been at the store for two weeks. At no point did anyone contact me by phone or email to let me know it had arrived. During my alterations appointment, I was asked if I wanted to add a bustle, which I agreed to. I was told my dress would require around 18 buttons due to the layers. In total, I paid nearly $800 for the bustle and to have cups added. I also asked again about sleeves, and that is when I was told the sleeves I originally wanted could not be added because it was not a service they offered. They only showed me two alternative sleeve options, neither of which resembled what I had originally requested. I ultimately settled for a drop cap sleeve because I felt I had no other option. A few weeks later, it was time to pick up my dress. The dress itself was beautiful, but when the alterations department showed me the bustle, it looked nothing like what had been described. The bustle completely changed the appearance of my dress. Instead of maintaining the mermaid silhouette, it made the dress look like an entirely different style. The buttons were fully exposed, the lace from the train was hidden, and there was excessive fabric bunching on the sides, making it very unflattering. I expressed my concerns to the alterations department and was told there was absolutely nothing they could do to fix it. Paying $800 for a bustle I was unhappy with was extremely frustrating. I spoke with the manager, who went back to speak with the alterations team, and suddenly they suggested another option. Unfortunately, the second attempt made the dress look even worse. At that point, I was overwhelmed and emotional. I explained that I would not be using the bustle at my wedding because it was nothing like what I had envisioned. I asked if there was any type of refund, partial credit, or gesture to improve the experience, but I was offered nothing. I left feeling completely disappointed. I am getting married in two weeks, and there was nothing further they were willing to do. When I got home and inspected my dress more closely, I noticed different colored threads left on it, likely leftover from other alterations, which made it feel like my dress was not handled with care or attention to detail. read more

Then they stated that once the dress goes to the alterations phase it is a final sale Today she went for the first fitting after alterations and the dress is so tight she can't close it. And they say they can't help how is it possible that they made a mistake and they cannot get the dress back? Oh boy. This place was not only a disappointment to me, but to several of my bridesmaids. I honestly can't believe that after spending several hundred dollars on the dress and alterations, 2 of my 3 bridesmaids that went here have dresses that do not fit correctly. Bridesmaid #1. I went with her to pick out a dress. They measured her. We ordered the dress in her size. When we went to pick it up, it didn't fit. Ok, lets just get it tailored. They measured her a second time for alterations. When we went to pick the dress up after alterations, it STILL did not fit correctly. This is after spending about $300 on alterations, which was more than the dress itself. I should also mention they were late for our tailor appointment and the appointment itself took extremely long. To compare, I recently got two bridal dresses altered, one at Archive Bridal and one at Olga Godoy, both of those appointments were under 30 minutes. Bridesmaid #2. We got a dress, showed up to the tailoring appointment. They were over an hour late. This seems to be a pattern. It was an extremely long appointment. She goes to pick it up after spending $300, and the dress DOES NOT FIT. The chest area is too loose. They straight up forgot to tailor a back portion of the dress. When she pointed it out, the guy said he forgot to "make that note." At this point the wedding is less than a week away. He says he can have it done ASAP. Great. Except he says he has to charge for it!! Are you kidding me?! After all of that, they still want to charge on top of the $300 for a dress that still doesn't fit correctly. Unbelievable. The tailoring department seems to be a scam. They measure you and for what, for the dress to still fit incorrectly? Spending hundreds of dollars for alterations for a dress that doesn't fit isn't right. We spent more on the alterations than the actual dress. STAY AWAY FROM THEIR ALTERATIONS! Now finally, let me talk about my personal experience. I made a bridal appointment for myself before all of this happened. When I arrived I told the sales woman a very clear description of my ideal dress. She goes in to ignore me and offer, very frankly, ugly dresses that did not even fit the silhouette I was looking for. I asked for strapless A line. Why was I given long sleeved gowns? The dresses were dirty with visible stains on the armpits. The dressing room was dirty. No one came in to help me try on the dresses, unlike at Love Bridal and Archive Bridal. The dress was too big so I asked for the clips to hold it in place, she said they didn't have any. What the f? She said "I'll just hold the dress up for you." Are you joking? Here I am, in a dirty dress, with this clueless woman holding the dress behind me so it won't fall off, super unhappy. Honestly this place feels like the walmart of bridal shops. So cheap and dirty. I absolutely regret giving this place a second shot for bridesmaids dresses. That being said, the bridesmaids dresses were nice. It's a shame they don't have any competent tailors that can show up to their appointments on time and actually tailor the dress. Overall a horrendous experience. Thank you to David's Bridal for adding unnecessary stress in my wedding planning process. Thankfully my bridesmaids were able to make it work with online dresses. I purchased my dress at David's Bridal in October. My experience was positive, until my alterations appointment. My alterations cost $900 due to my bustle and other alterations. My bustle DID NOT hold for my wedding. 4 layers bustled and a few of them broke. We used safety pins to hold the bustle in place. Today, these are my bruises. To note, I have not gained any weight since my alterations appointment and I used the same heels from the time of my appointment. My dress used to have pockets. At my alterations appointment, I was also asked if I would like to "add" my pockets again. I asked what they meant they said they needed to close the pockets to alter the dress and add the pockets on again. This would be an additional charge. I asked another seamstress for her opinion and she mentioned this seemed off (and David's bridal was most likely trying to gain extra money). When I picked up my dress, the stream-stress brushed away the fact that they had to FORCE the dress closed. The dress should have been altered to be comfortable and fitting, not tight & restrictive. Choose somewhere else for alterations unless you want to choke like Christina Yang in Grey's Anatomy. If I wanted my neck restricted, I would have bought a choker. As of 6/3, I still have these bruises. I should not have bruises from a dress that I paid $900 to alter. read more

There's something about the quality & variety of colors you can find- versus finding colors that are typically fall/ winter tones. Years past, I go for the strapless, above knee length. There's a special occasion we've been invited to for January 2023. Our friend is celebrating her 50th birthday- 80s prom style! I tried my past David's Bridal dresses- and they no longer fit. So, when we stopped by here yesterday- I beelined to the CLEARANCE section. Tags that are marked with clearance tags are Also gonna get an additional 50% off!! I picked 4 dresses from the rack- and the first one I tried on was the ONE! A bit loose on the top. But, Morgan, said alterations can be made in house. And yes! I went to David's Bridal on September 2, 2025 to buy a dress for my upcoming wedding. My wedding will be small, and we didn't want to spend a lot of money on a dress, but I still wanted to feel like a bride. The service at the store was great, and the girl who helped me pick the dress was the sweetest. I chose a dress that cost around $350, and they immediately scheduled me for alterations. I had to reschedule my alteration appointment because I had cut my hand and didn't want to risk staining the dress. Over the phone, they told me there would be a rush fee around $70 to $150, which was fine. When I went back for the alteration, I asked to take the dress in just a little on the side (since I had lost some weight) and to shorten the length slightly. At the end of the fitting, an older lady with an accent told me the cost for the alterations would be $770. I was shocked. I said I couldn't pay that, and she suggested only shortening the length instead. I asked how much that would be, and she said $550 -- just to hem the dress! I told her no. She and another employee (a man) started removing the pins they had just placed. They said they weren't part of the store, even though everything, including scheduling, had been done through David's Bridal. I felt awful. I was alone because my family had only come with me when I first chose the dress. I was never told that alterations would be extra, but I was still willing to pay just not $770 or $550 for something so simple. After I left, I went to the parking lot and saw the same man waiting there. He called me over and offered to do the alterations himself for $500. I said no thanks and left. Of course, I couldn't return the dress because they don't accept returns after two months. I cried so much and felt humiliated. I wanted to share my experience, so other brides know to ask how much alterations cost before buying a dress at David's Bridal. So happy to have had a wonderful experience at this location. I've been to chains around the states & by far, this was the best experience that I've had with David's bridal. I booked ahead of time online because that seems to always be the best option. We went in on a Saturday morning & we were greeted right away. After my information was confirmed, I was given some time to look around at different options. Pricing options aren't bad at all. Now, I'm a girly on a budget (we eloped & kept all expenses under $2k including my dress/alterations ) so I knew what price point I was trying to go in & my customer service rep knew exactly where to direct me! I tried on 4 dresses & knew the last one was going to be the "one." That feeling you get when you fully envision yourself in front of the love of your life, knowing you'd feel your best, & you get those little butterflies in the pit of your belly-totally felt all the feels in this dress. I had a cathedral length veil to go with it & I couldn't have been more happy with my experience. The store was clean, everything went incredibly smooth, & I truly feel like I walked away with everything I've EVER dreamed of! Let's start off by them giving me a consultant, who had NO IDEA or what I think had NO SENSE OF KNOWLEDGE of what the hell she was doing. Now, I am more on the thicker and voluptuous side, so I understand they are limited with dresses sadly, but that does not give them the chance to pick dresses that was just flat out not flattering to my body. She chose dresses that weren't really close to what I was looking for. Dress after dress, it was getting worse, and I felt uglier and uglier. Especially when they had all the brides who were also there trying on dresses side by side even though they had many other dressing rooms and could have separated us all. My bridesmaids that were with me were feeling embarrassed not for themselves but for me too, so instead of taking it seriously, we just tried them on to try them on and share our opinions outloud to help ME not feel ugly. It was so bad that the other people who saw the dresses I was trying on, my bridesmaids and I felt their eyes of opinions on what dresses I was trying on. Like I felt them feeling sorry for me. It was to the point that a more experienced consultant had to step in and help me, but non of the dresses neither more nor less helped me either. There was literally a dress they chose, and I tried it on and outloud said "I feel like a shrimp lumpia" (it's a filipino eggroll) like c'mon felt liek they were just trying to humiliate me now. So after that dress, I said that I'm done and I want to leave. WORST and most HUMILIATING experience I've ever had. Brides trying on dresses SHOULD NOT be next together due to this reason. All the brides next to me were more skinnier, so it really brought sooo many insecurities and then bringing unflattering dresses to try on next to them, heartbreaking. You need to be more considerate on what your bride's body type is and the type of dresses you are picking out for them, because we are going to you for your expertise and to make us feel out of place. Also, please do not give us a new consultant who does not have experience, if so please partner them with an experienced consultant to help them out. Would I recommend you guys? Yes and No. NO, because of my experience, but yes to those who are on budget and are only skinny. read more

3.5 Stars for the initial try on; I did not purchase my dress here so I can't comment on what the process for alterations/ordering the dress would go. I would recommend coming here as a good starting off point if you are trying to figure out a silhouette as they have a wide array of styles, and I forget the name of the stylist that was assigned to me but he was super patient, helpful, and brought in dresses that I had chosen to try on and additional dresses based on the feedback I had given on some of the dresses that I had put on previously. He also tried to stylize the dresses with some ideas for straps as most of the dresses I tried on were strapless (and it isn't something I wanted). I was very grateful for the experience. I went on a Tuesday evening and there was only one other person in the store trying on dresses. This made a huge difference given that the stylist told me that it was completely packed during the weekend. I tend to like to try on dresses without the input of others as it gets rather noisy in my head with different opinions so I am able to go on a weeknight, which I know is more difficult with those who have a larger party and looking for a try-on experience. For me, the less fan fare, the more comfortable I am, which I think David's Bridal provides for me. As long as the stylist/salesperson is helpful and friendly I'm already satisfied. I did have one friend go with me for this try-on and it was easy for her to sit and watch me come out after I changed into one dress after another. This experience did alert me that trumpet/mermaid dresses are something I should consider as I had focused more on an A-line, so as I mentioned earlier, trying different silhouettes here is what they offer here The people at the front when I checked in seemed fairly lackluster, but it did not bother me as I don't enjoy sales people swarming me either. All in all it's a good starting point, and they have a wide variety of dresses at price points and I had a pretty good experience. read more

Accessibility: this store isn't super accessible as the entrance is on the street corner and you have to go up stairs to get to the front doors (see photos). Experience: the employees here were all really nice but one hour is not a long enough appointment time to try on dresses and find the right one. They were super strict about one hour and they were trying to get us out of there by that time frame. The dresses are stunning and I was surprised to see beautiful (more simple) dresses for only $300. The more decorative and elegant dresses are higher up there in cost, but that's to be expected at a place like this. I do wish they had more plus sizes though. I know they can order them and get them adjusted a little tailoring, but basically all the dress sizes in store they have for clients to try on are for thinner people. I walked in at 7:20 looking for a bridesmaid dress. On Apple Maps it said that they closed at 9. I was greeted by a really nice employee who sprung up to help me. In the middle of her helping me, what I assumed was the manager came and very rudely and abruptly said "we just closed." and gave me a shrugged off look- basically telling me to get out. maybe you should contact someone to update your hours so people aren't disappointed when you tell them to get out, oh and also work on your customer service skills too. read more

I had made an appointment online and they seemed to be completely unprepared for us to come in. The store even called me this morning and I had let them know the color of bridesmaid dress we were looking for and they let me know they had plenty of dresses in store in the color we are looking for. When we arrived, we were put with Joana - the most unhelpful stylist we could have asked for. Joana handed us an iPad to look on their website to see what they have available. They almost destroyed my wedding dress. Note this review is for the alterations department. I did try dresses there but nothing worked for me and overall I just thought they were not that great. I did bring my dress to them for alterations, JUST for hemming NOT cleaning. My dress was crepe and was dry clean only. It did have a stain but I told them to leave it as I was having it cleaned after I had it altered. They ignored this and tried to clean it by SOAKING a dry clean only dress is some tank of their chemicals. The small stain grew and turned this hideous pink/orange color and the dress was pure white. They tried to lie to me and say they did not clean it but the stain was a new color and not how I gave it to them. I then spoke with the manager of alterations and she confirmed they cleaned the dress wrong and without my permission. I was fuming! My wedding was 2 weeks away and I had no time to find another dress. Thankfully my dry cleaners were able to fix the dress but at a high cost and it was like pulling teeth getting davids manager to refund my alterations to cover the cost of the added cleaning. Followed their instructions, made an appointment online 4 weeks ahead of time. They call me the day before saying they double booked us. We could go in at our scheduled appointment at 1030 and share a stylist or come in at 1200 for a personal one. I didn't realize that this is how they do business. They wouldn't answer my questions about the double booking and last minute schedule changes. Totally unsatisfactory and unprofessional!!! DO NOT book with them!
