Brides-to-be/bridesmaids: Please, please, please go anywhere else but this David's Bridal.
TLDR: Nan (store manager) and Beth (asst. store manager) are extremely rude and unprofessional. Staff is under-trained. I ended up with 6 dresses with mismatching colors, was told it was my fault, and had to drive an hour north to another David's Bridal to get the situation fixed.
It's a long review, so here we go:
I'd give zero stars if it was an option. I came to this location to get my 9 bridesmaids dresses. I picked David's Bridal because I had every size from 2 to 20, and figured DB would be the best place to go. It was an absolute nightmare.
To be completely upfront, I have no complaints with the consultant, Taylor. She was very sweet, but clearly not trained very well. I came in for my first appointment with 5 of my bridesmaids. I told Taylor that I did not care what dress my girls picked, as long as the color of each dress match. That was the only important part to me. I came back for two more appointments after that, once again, telling the associate that I only cared about the color matching.
I picked the color Begonia. The dresses started arriving and as we compared them, the shades of the dresses where all across the board. Now, I do not work in this industry, nor do I work with fabrics. I honestly did not realize that the different fabrics would cause such a variation in color. I had 6 dresses that ranged in shades from Easter egg pink to dusty rose. I'm not just talking about a half-shade off. This was never once mentioned to me, my mom, or anyone one else in my bridal party as being a possible issue.
I called the Greenwood store and explained the situation. I was told to bring the dresses in to the store. My mom, myself, and future mother-in-law brought in the 6 dresses. Beth, the assistant store manager, was extremely rude to us. I currently work in retail, so I am not THAT customer. And I am pretty far from being a bride-zilla.
Beth looked at the dresses and all she said was, "They are all Begonia." And that was all that Beth kept repeating to us. These dresses were clearly not the same shade of color. Beth told us that the color difference is a result of having different fabrics. That would make sense, but 3 of the dresses were the Chiffon material, and they didn't even match each other. We went back and forth with Beth for about an hour. She finally said, and I quote, "This is your fault for not realizing the different fabrics wouldn't look the same." I have never been treated so rudely or poorly by a manager.
Keep in mind, we have purchased 6 dresses, and not sale dresses, and still had 3 more dresses to buy. My mom and I told Beth that we were done speaking to her, and needed to speak to her manager.
We then met with Nan, the store manager. She looked at the dresses and said they same thing Beth said, "These are all Begonia." Even in the florescent lighting, you could tell these dresses did not match. We went back and forth once again with Nan. She pointed out that there were sample dresses in every color on the floor, so we should have seen there were color variations between the fabrics. Like I said, our first appointment was in early November, and this is now late-December. Once again, the consultant never once mentioned, in any of my 3 appointments, that this could be an issue. Nor did she show me any of the different fabrics in the color I picked. Isn't this why I would with a consultant? Once again, my mom and I were told this was our fault. Nan was just as rude and disrespectful as Beth. And she is the store manager.
Finally, Nan agreed to exchange the dresses. Two bridesmaids picked different dresses, but they picked the exact same dress. Nan did not charge us the difference for the dresses, but said she would only do that once, "for my time." I had already spent over 2 hours in this store trying to get my dress situation fixed. I told Nan that I still had to spend time fixing this problem, and she replied, "I just took an $80 hit." (Did i mention my party had purchased 6 dresses, and I still had THREE dresses to buy?)
The two re-ordered dresses came in, and shocker, they didn't match each other or the other dresses. I finally ended up driving to the Castleton David's Bridal where that manager was truly amazing and fixed the mess that the Greenwood location caused for me. I changed my color completely.
I have never been so poorly treated by a business. I have never seen two managers talk so rudely and disrespectfully to my mom. Customer service counts when there is an issue to deal with, and this location absolutely failed. I just wanted my dresses to be the same color. That is not a unreasonable request for bridesmaid dresses. This was the worst experience in my wedding planning. A bridal shop should not have caused me so much trouble with bridesmaids dresses. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION AT ALL. It's not worth it. read more
