October 2024 My…read morehome has a 40 yr old concrete septic tank, so bear this in mind (it's old!). I had a leak on the outlet side wall and a previous contractor tried to patch it, but it never stopped. This had been going on for some time, but steadily got worse. I was thinking I had no choice except to go ahead and bite the bullet now to replace the tank, a big job for sure. Also to note, a prior septic contractor failed about a week earlier to patch the tank, more $$ spent, so I thought hope was lost as far as repair efforts were concerned. I started calling around to get bids on tank replacement and found Rocklyn Septic Services, among a few on Angies List. I met Barron W. and right away found him competent and someone I thought I might be able to trust. Barron came out promptly and on time to inspect the tank (on a Friday). He provided hope that maybe it could be repaired. He noticed the 4" TEE was oddly positioned and cut it off. That allowed about 2" water level drop which may have helped to reduce tank water pressure above the leak. Barron then came out on Monday with some bags of concrete and was able to patch the wall successfully in less than 30 minutes. As a result, I can now wait until next spring to replace the tank if I wish as the leak is gone, grass is dry! Barron even promised if the leak returned, he would apply the cost of the repair to the tank replacement. I'm good to go for now! Barron's attention to detail, his great communication and his committment to customer service is why I will hire him for the big job next year to replace my tank. Thank you sir for your service!

DRAIN CONNECTION I…read morewanted to take the time and write a review of my experience with DRAIN CONNECTION San Antonio. To give a little background, I have clay sewage exterior lines going to the city sewer that is about 75 feet built in the 1960s. After having a few backups over the years, especially when the ground got saturated from rain, I called Drain Connection out to investigate. Their professional team and modern technological camera services revealed the causes. Basically the clay pipes are beautiful, but over 50+ years of the settling of the ground and outdated standards, the line itself looked like sections of broken spines that had belly dips, and broken pieces of clay in the line. They were able to Hydro-Jet the line, getting it as clean as new, but the reality was that this was an aged out sewage pipe and needed to be replaced. The usual / traditional method would be to just replace the line. What does that entail? That requires digging up your yard, and installing a new line that will take 3 days of extremely difficult work, especially in the San Antonio sun and humidity. Drain Connection being up to date in the plumbing industry was able to offer a most excellent alternative Trenchless CIPP Liner Installation. You need to research this process, but in summary Trenchless Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) installation is a non-invasive method of repairing damaged underground sewer and drain lines without the need for heavy excavation. It works by inserting a flexible, resin-saturated liner into the existing pipe and curing it, effectively creating a durable "pipe within a pipe" that lasts 50-plus years. The Drain Connection San Antonio crew was able to come out and install this CIPP in my 50+ year old existing pipe and essentially made it "BRAND NEW" in 1 day. I mean the process is amazing to watch and now personally own. Apparently, similar processes have been around since the 1970's, but the need has become more necessary due to the time of the aged system catching up with wear and tear. For me, if you are looking for a professional crew, that will work harder than expected, offer the best product, and look out for your wallet, look no further. I have had 2 experiences now with these professionals and it can no longer be considered a coincidence. My family and I are grateful to have found Drain Connection and would easily recommend contacting them first to save yourself headaches, time, money; and satisfaction guaranteed.

Two days later I got my bill and all it said was $365.00 with no explanation of any of the charges, just an amount due. When I booked the appointment they told me they really didn't have set rates and would look at the job on site and give me an estimate. I thought that was fair. However, That Never Happened. When I called to discuss my bill he said his plumbers got paid $200/hr and there was an equipment cost. I said ok but they were gone in 30 minutes. He said we don't bill anything less than an hour. I told him that I thought the charges were unreasonable, given the ease of the job and that no one ever offered me an estimate up front as promised before fixing it. He told me his people had to eat. They're one of two companies in town who are qualified to do so, and their prices are significantly lower. Although they were VERY busy, and it did take a few weeks after I inquired for them to be able to start the job, when started it was done efficiently, with great care and attention to detail. Bobby is young and intelligent, and I never questioned whether he knew exactly what he was doing. He and his crew were incredibly courteous, smart, and kept in great communication with us about what was happening and about how long it would take to fix things. We had a real mess of electrical work left by the previous owners of the house, but they got everything working perfectly in several days. Bobby even came back the next week after the job was done, when some outlets had stopped working (not due to anything they'd done, but due to some old broken wires), and fixed the problem, no questions asked. AC Electric are the only electricians I will recommend from now on, and that recommendation will be an easy one to give. Thanks!

Hard Rock Septic is the best septic installer in the San Marcos area. Once upon a time long ago I…read moreworked as an health inspector, one of the duties of which is ensuring that septic systems (OSSFs) are properly designed for the residence it will serve and soil type that will receive the treated effluent. The state also requires that critical aspects of the system are inspected during installation and upon completion, after which the local health inspector will issue a permit for that system. For experienced installers this work should be relatively easy. Amazingly, many of the local installers fail inspections often, and one or two seemed to fail at least one inspection per installation. Typically because they are lazy or rushed, or their staff is lazy, rushing to finish, or poorly trained. During my tenure Hard Rock rarely needed re inspections and if he did it was for an unforeseeable or unavoidable reason. While local health departments do not recommend particular businesses, when I was ready to get a system installed, every experienced inspector that I asked recommended Hard Rock (and no one else - there are several other nice and competent installers in the area however, and several excellent installers in the dripping springs area but they usually have enough local business and thus prefer not to work in this area). I can also say that many of my friends recommend this business as well. Several times I've been told that the owner has done additional work (moving landscape boulders, digging small ponds, etc) at no charge, and will often respond to future requests by saying he'll come by next time he's working in the area and do whatever minor work is needed for free. And he keeps his word. He did a great, quick job on my installation and dug some holes and trenches I needed for free. The only negative comment I can make (and this is true of most installers) is that he recommended an aerobic system, which are fraught with issues and should be banned or maintained by the local wastewater dept. Installers love these systems because they can charge more and it is a very fast installation compared to a traditional system, plus a service contract is required by law. In my case, in order to avoid installing an aerobic system I would have needed truckloads of soil delivered for what's called a mounded LPD OSSF. It would have been more expensive but in retrospect I regret not getting it. In the long run anaerobic systems cost less to maintain and rarely fail.
