I'm about to leave for yet another haircut at the David Michael Hair Studio and I thought now would be a great time to tell the public WHY I'm returning for the millionth time. First off, I almost exclusively go to Daniel because I have followed him around since he was just a student stylist at Panico. When I went to him back then (oh gosh...2005 maybe?) he fixed my hair that I had literally MELTED off my head. I was young, about 8th grade, and had a little fiasco with several boxes of bleach and a ton of permanent dye. My hair was actually just mushing off in the brush...it was GROSS! With his expertise, he got my hair to STAY ON MY HEAD-which I thought at that point was impossible! He did have to cut a lot off, but I always preferred edgy styles so that was just fine, and he saved a lot more than I thought could be salvaged. Flash forward- he took my hair from WHITE to BLACK, which if you've ever experienced- is a damn near impossible feat, and got every haircut I desired perfect. Since then, he's also done my hair pink and blue, managed to put white highlights in my dyed black hair without damaging it, shaved cool designs in my head...the works! He NEVER disappoints me and is always willing to try out new and exciting techniques and styles. I've got my best friend going to him too now, and she really puts him through the ringer as well (Red to blonde to brunette, all sorts of cuts) and he is the ONLY person she will ever go to again (she's super picky!) Daniel has met ALL my needs, and to be frank, I just love that he is always excited to see his clients and we always have a great conversation. It's definitely not one of those weird silent haircuts where you just stare at what's happening and try not to meet eyes (which I've gotten at other places). The Salon itself is beautiful, well set up, and they always offer refreshments. I've also never had a wait for more than 5 minutes (usually not even 5) and the receptionists are so nice! There's also an actual room for your jackets and things, which I really appreciate in winter. No one wants to be slouching their coat over someone else's station and risking hair flying all over everything. Speaking of, there never is even hair on the floor! I swear, the second it leaves your head, it's swept up by someone. I just absolutely love this place!! As a note, Daniel also trained Nicole, another stylist there. She helped to do several of the dye jobs and cuts I've gotten there, and I even went to her on her own a few times. She's also great! If Daniel is booked solid, I go to her. I also recommended her to my boyfriend (who ALSO frequents this salon) and he loves her and another stylist. My boyfriend has really difficult-bone straight asian-esque hair and he had been rocking a "bowl cut" from his ex-stylist for too long. Went to David Michael- and his problems are now a thing of the past!! He doesn't look like a bowl of boyfriend anymore! He has layers and oomph! Never even a single complaint. After years of failed highlighting, dye jobs, and haircuts, I decided to do some research and find a REALLY GOOD salon. I came across David Michael and decided to give it a try. I asked for the best, and made an appointment with Rosie. My first time there a couple of years ago I asked for SUBTLE highlights. I have brown hair and in the past have received yellow, brass, or orange highlights. Rosie was the first person, ever, to get it right- and life was wonderful from that point on and I eventually went to just a very dark brown single process. A couple of times our scheduled did not match and I would see someone else at the studio, but ended up with a different color dye job because "they have their own files". Not sure what that was about, but the following visit to Rosie she brought me back to my normal color. That being said, she is very expensive. So expensive that I had to stop going to her. I tried to find something more affordable in my area ( I am a good 45 minutes from David Michael) and have had quite a few horrendous dye jobs. It shouldn't be hard to mess me up- I have one color and it's dark! But they do, over and over again. That being said, I just made my appointment with Rosie for next week so that she can fix my head and bring back my nice hair. I am considering picking up a third job so that I don't ever have to leave her again- I am dead serious about this. I cannot speak for anyone else who works there except Rosie. She gives me what I want every time I go there. The coffee/water bar and TV's are nice too. Just a note you cannot tip more than like 10-15% on a credi/debitt card or something like that. I usually bring cash to tip Rosie and the hair washers/assistants. read more

I love this place. The staff is friendly and welcoming, great atmosphere. My stylist is Marina and she is awesome. She saved my hair twice. The first time from a box dye gone wrong (oops) after I tried to fix a bad dye job from the salon I usually go to close to where I live. After all my hair had been through, it looked horrible and didn't flatter my features at all. Marina totally transformed my look, I could not believe it. The color was so much better suited for me and I was overjoyed. The second time, I was in a crisis again after a bad visit to my regular salon. I had specifically asked for natural looking highlights that matched my brunette hair. I came out with chunky, brassy-looking blondish highlights, the opposite of what I had asked for (and this was at a high-end salon). I was out $180 even though they failed to fix it. What a nightmare. So I headed over to David Michael. Again, Marina came to my rescue. She toned down my highlights and made them blend in beautifully with the rest of my hair, the way I had originally asked for. It was perfect. Not to mention, she was super gentle with my hair and cared that it not only looked fabulous but was healthy. David Michael is my exclusive salon now, I won't stray again. I have peace of mind knowing I don't have to worry about any more hair tragedies. I finally have the hair I want. Thank you Marina! read more

I want to start off by saying that I found this salon through instagram. I was looking for a new stylist because my previous one was very unprofessional and began overcharging me whenever I would come in. Anyway, through my search I found Narine. First off, when I called the person answering was really nice and made it extremely easy to make an appointment. To each his/her own but I am BIG on customer service so that made me happy. Now for my stylist Narine, she is extremely talented and for both my appointments she has exceeded all my expectations. On top of that she is the nicest most down to earth person. She doesnt leave you feeling weird or awkward while she does her magic. She is very friendly and it helps breaking the ice esp if you are a new client. I left both my appointments feeling beautiful and with a huge smile on my face. She has a loyal client in me. Overall prices are extremely reasonable and the vibe is awesome. Took a chance at this salon after reading some good reviews on other sites. I normally wouldn't venture further into Jersey to do my hair, but we were visiting my in-laws in Bergen County so I figured "What the hey." I made an appointment with a "senior stylist" and crossed my fingers. Upon arrival, I was politely greeted by the receptionist---good sign I thought. I sat and waited patiently for about an hour for my stylist---bad sign I thought and I was right. After introductions, I explained that I wanted natural, SUBTLE highlights, not too blonde. As she started putting foils in my hair, another one of her clients came in. So not only was she an hour late for me, now she was running late for her other client. She went into chicken-without-a-head mode. Needless to say, my so-called natural highlights looked like Tracey's on Jerseylicious (if you haven't seen the show check it out on the Style channel, addictive!!!) To top it all off, they charged me $220 for a terrible job. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

I've been using my hair stylist Danielle Yodice, who is the studio manager, for close to 20 years. She's super professional, an excellent colorist (I'm naturally dirty blonde, but have been strawberry blonde, bleach blonde, honey blonde & most recently went to a dark caramel, coppery brunette) & I've always been happy with my hair cut. She listens to what you want & if you're not 100% sure, she gives her ideas. I recently started doing keratin treatments (had a lot of damage from the bleaching. My hair wasn't growing & was breaking really bad. The treatments are amazing - 10/10 - I always think when I get them done now, why haven't I done these sooner - 100% worth the money! The salon is very clean. The receptionist is super nice & helpful. I went shortly after the covid ban was lifted for salons & felt the staff took measures to keep everyone safe & keep the place very clean. I would definitely recommend this salon if you wanted something as simple as a cut, to coloring your hair. I have been to this salon numerous times and I have never been let down. The past couple times I have gone, I had Marina Alberg do my hair for me. She is amazing at what she does. I have gotten my ends lightened, and have darkened my hair and she can do it all! Not only does she do exactly what I want but she tells me what condition my hair is in, what I can do to help it, and what would look best with my face frame. I have never been to a greater salon and had a better hairstylist do my hair. I have had friends who have darkened their hair the same as mine and have to go back to their salon numerous times to touch it up. For me, it has been over two months and my hair still looks great. I would definitely recommend David Micheal Hair Studio if you are around here and Marina Alberg as your stylist!! read more

I am NOT one to pay over a certain price for a hair cut so I was very skeptical about not only the price but if i was going to get the style I wanted, the shortest hairstyle I have had since I was two and that was a pixie my mom forced on me...and I was a red head at the time... I was given a last minute appointment with Rosie Rivera and she was wonderful! She encouraged questions, explained every cut- it was clear that I was nervous especially after she cut off over 5 inches! Which on her defense, is what she had to do to get the style I want... and she did! I love the look and it was well worth the price! She was a pleasure to work with and I will be going back. When you go here, you leave looking great and feeling great. I have been going to Rosie for a few years now and she does an excellent job every time. She is very talented and creative- while still giving you what you want. I can go in with a picture and ask her to do that and she is great- or sometimes I just don't know what I want and leave it up to her and she makes me look great. She really works with the type of hair you have and your face shape. My family also goes to her - and we all go for occassions when we need to get an up-do and she is AMAZING. She doesn't glue your hair down with hair spray that gets ruined in an hour. Instead, she is careful and uses bobby pins that she hides wonderfully. She is really an artist!! read more

I had gotten a disastrous haircut at another salon in my town, and spent the morning in tears.The holidays are upon us, and I will be leaving for a vacation on Christmas Day. Time is running short. Since today is a Monday, my options for salons are limited. Well, I called simply because they were open, and sure enough, they were able to accommodate me right away. I saw Melanie, who was not only able to fix my horrible cut, but she gave me the cut I originally wanted! Now, I'm seriously crying from relief! I've been a client of Marina's for about 5- 6 years now! I am so happy I found her! Before Marina I was constantly switching hair dressers because no one was able to achieve the look I wanted while keeping my hair healthy. Not only has Marina constantly surprised me with how amazing my hair comes out, the service and staff at David Michael are very professional and kind; they're always asking if I would like coffee, water, cheese and crackers (and champagne from time to time!) The experience at David Michael is one I often recommend and even more so Marina (my hair dresser for life!) I am usually a very picky person when it comes to hair and make up and I dont usually like anything but, one of my friends recommend me this salon and I went there for my prom last year. I was so impressed with the make up and the hair. It was amazzziiiinnggg:)) i wanted to go there for weddings and I wanted to send my sisters in lawas there too but I couldn't remember the address n I lost contact with my friend too. Rosie Rosie Rosie Rivera - I have been a client/patient of Rosie for the last 3 years and plan on going to her until she retires or I lose all my hair. I'll admit I strayed in the beginning trying someone that was closer and a little cheaper. Never again! Your hair makes a first and lasting impression on people. Rosie knows how to make that impression speak volumes. She is worth every penny and then some. Rosie is my Stylist - I was referred to her by another wonderful Stylist, Liz, who recently relocated. Although I was concerned about "breaking in" a new stylist, I had no idea the quality of service would be so outstanding. I have been totally pleased with each haircut and have had strangers come up to me, one recently on a plane I was travelling on, to rave about my haircut which she was admiring throughout the four-hour flight. I rarely get my hair cut and never stuck to the same place... But since I first had my hair cut here by Alexis, I've been coming back now for 2 years... I love my hair long and she understands when you say you want to keep the length as much as possible. She listens to exactly what you want and the finishing result is awesome ((My hair somehow looks the same length but brand new!!)). If you have long hair and just want a true trim and fresh layers, I highly recommend her. I have never left cringing like to much was cut off, like at some other places in the past. I love this salon! its beautifully decorated, trendy and Rosie is amazing! She works miracles with my hair (no easy task). I have long curly and 50% gray hair, and when she's done, I look 10 years younger and ready for a fashion shoot! Got my hair cut and colored by Nicole today and she did an awesome job! Everyone at this salon is super nice and from what I've observed all the stylist spend a good amount of time with their clients discussing what to do. Nicole is young and very stylish and she took her time with me. After having my hair screwed by other stylist few months ago I will definitely go back to David Michael. Nicole is awesome and she will be taking care of my hair from now on, but I think that you can't go wrong with any of the stylist working at that salon. read more

I have been going to this salon now for over 6 years and it is the best in the area! Very clean, friendly and accommodating stylists, and always a high end experience. And my go to stylist Marina is the simply the BEST at what she does! From simple cuts and trims, to color corrections, highlights and ombre; every time she styles my hair I leaving the salon feeling fabulous! David Michael is just an outstanding place to get your hair done. My stylist is Cynthia (awesome!) and my haircut and coloring are always perfect. My hair needs are pretty basic but they offer any kind of service you could imagine and require. Yelp lists them as expensive but I do not find them any more so than most of the other salons I have gone to in the past. I have been going there for several years and would not consider going anywhere else. BTW they have a nifty coffee/tea bar with amazing biscotti. read more
