Great place to get cards for all occasions. Now that we are all realizing that sometimes just a tweet or email doesn't cut it, it's nice that there's a place to find a lovely assortment of upscale but not crazy expensive greeting cards. Also nice to support a longtime independently owned business surrounded by a sea of chain stores. read more

If your looking for a wedding gift, or any kind of quality gift for the home or office, this is the place. High quality and many choices. I find the staff helpful and patient. Not for bargain hunters or those who are on tight budget and prefer Homegoods, but those who want something unique or special. read more

This is my go to store for cards, gifts and the other interesting unique items they carry. I have always had good service and found more than I expected, both on the top floor and the bottom floor. I would be crushed without them. read more

It's a mish mash of stuff, but you could find a gift for just about anybody there. I found the staff to be very pleasant and welcoming. It does have a bit of a "yard sale" feel to it, but thing are grouped, like stationary here, kitchen goods there. There is an upstairs and downstairs, the downstairs has more baby and kitchen things. read more

So I never leave review for retail store but this place and the guy working here needs to get a one star so that they understand they cannot treat people like this let along their customers. We bought a gift from here for my mom and returned it for store credit since we lost the receipt which as much as I we didn't like it it is a common policy and I understand. We came back to buy something with the credit but it didn't go with our place and when we came to get credit again so we get something later the old man with the suit and blue gloves (forgot to get his name) in a very accusing manner told us this is the third time we are returning (actually second) and then started to question us about the why and even went as far as accusing my wife and I for using the goods for 'staging' wtf! read more

Store is clean and new. They sell mainly gift type items upstairs. Downstairs you can find kitchenware, pots, pans, kitchen utensils and dishes. Good place to find that special gift for that special occasion. read more

DO NOT SHOP AT DAVID M. BRIAN! Shop at Nordstrom instead. Your time savings is worth it! We stopped in David M. Brian to shop on Saturday 12/6 and were waiting over 15 min. to see (i.e., make eye-contact) a sales clerk - after being ignored 2 times by other clerks who decided to help others! I spoke with the Manager, Marianne, who, unfortunately has not grasped the concept of customer service in retail herself! Her answer was "it's a busy time". Time for training. read more

Service at this location is not good! Trust the other Yelpers (since I'm a newby)! We stopped in specifically to take advantage of the Pandora "free bracelet" promotion that ended today. We were ignored for a few minutes - even with a bracelet and necklace that was clearly Pandora. I wanted to add to my collection - and the staff wasn't even interested. The customer next to us received the same poor service and was almost accused of stealing when she tried on a bangle bracelet! I asked to try on the smaller bangle and the lady tells me "that one is not good for you" even though the one I had was too big. If you want to shop Pandora - save some time and go to Stoneridge!! read more

I was with my sister who reviewed this location, and she is right, they were obviously profiling my entire family and I. Just because we were the only non-Caucasian family in the store, an employee insisted on not taking her eyes off of us and following us throughout the store. Will never go to this store again. read more

The owner's wife was very rude to my wife when she tried to exchange a Pandora bracelet. She was so upset about her treatment that I returned the entire bracelet - charms and all. They were tainted by the experience in my opinion. Would never recommend this store. read more

Came to pick up my brother-in-law's groomsman gift from engraving and it was completely scratched up the back. The manager MaryAnn came to Customer Service to "assist". She had the audacity to say that is how we purchased the brand new item in a box. She blamed us for knowing about this at the initial sale, and referenced that she was part of sale a few weeks prior which is a blatant outright lie as she is definitely not the male associate who helped us. She then back peddled to say that she had known about it, why didn't we. My husband asked her why they were selling damaged goods without a disclosure, but that was apparently our fault as well. There was no sale or discount to trigger us to this during the initial sale. Why would we think a brand new item would be so damaged? She literally stated that we signed a contract stating we knew this, yet couldn't show us on the contract....because there was nothing on there stating that. Flat out bald faced lie. She did refund the money after multiple accusations at us but, I'm sure that was just to get rid of us. Too bad because now it's permanent riddance. You're a speciality store where the Internet is slowly putting your type of company out of business....we may not look like much in person, but the fact is...we walked in to pick up that order and purchase 15 other wedding gifts for the wedding party as well as completing a registry for our wedding from your china and glassware department. I'm SO glad we didn't spend our money prior to picking up the item we ordered. I've spent $30,000 in cash on my special day...I have no problem taking my business elsewhere. Everyone likes cash. We so glad we found out about the true colors of this company and the woman who so proudly bragged at being "The Manager". Good for you. I work for the Government and my husband owns his own company (Google him)...You are no better than us but you are definitely a craptastic manager. You might want to brush up your customer service skills...you have zero. read more

Showing my best friend around the Creek, checking off those lists when we wandered into David M. Brian. Beautiful merchandise, and fair prices for the quality goods they carry, but my praise stops there. The customer service was not only bad, but nearly embarrassing. My friend purchased a new baby gift and a book, and when asked for it to be store wrapped, the salesclerk looked us over and said, yes to the bank, no to the book and walked away to the wrapping desk. We followed and the second employee, the wrapper, boxed the bank, put one ribbon over one side of the package, a store sticker and handed it back to us. We asked, no bow? No she says, you didn't spend enough! So how much do you need to spend for 2 ribbons and a bow? Won't be returning here for similar merchandise. Nordstrom's carries the same bank at the same price but we will get both service and a smile there! Hard to keep it local with better service/prices at the chain stores and on the Internet. read more

I have been shopping at this store for various gift items for several years. Never had a memorably friendly experience but they do have gift items other stores in the area don't carry. A few weeks ago I bought a wedding cake knife and server set with a crystal handle for my daughter's wedding. $50. As she was slicing/serving her cake the handle on the server simply fell off. (great picture , huh?). So we bring the set back to David M and the snotty "manager" on duty says she can't return it because it is used! Duh! It fell apart on the first use! Luckily my outspoken daughter has worked in retail for a clothing store that returns everything and puts CUSTOMER SERVICE FIRST (NOT LIKE THIS STORE) and was persistent to the point where they replaced it. I am finding David M's contact info and letting him know. What idiots. Finally we got the server replaced ( yes I had the reciept) but it was atrocious they were not going to replace it because it was defective! That is exactly why it needed to be replaced! Keep treating your customers like that and you won't have any. I live in WC and know a lot of people that will hear this story. read more

Great things...not so good service. Second visit to make a large purchase on a Friday and staff was not accommodating stating item was "to heavy for them to lift", which isn't my problem when I am buying the item and offered to take off the wall myself. Kinda sad considering what nice things they have. read more

um...what IS this place?! it's almost like an antique store, but with new stuff. lots of "stuff." i saw an "activity ball" in the store window yesterday. perfect for my friend's daughter, whose 1st birthday party i'll be attending this saturday. i also found out, while in this store, that my boyfriend is surprisingly good at picking out cute presents for little girls. he pointed out a big porcelain piggy bank wearing a pink tutu, and also a bunny coat with bunny ears on the hood. but other than that, i have no idea what this store is for. but if anyone is in need of a white porcelain artichoke, you can find one at this store! read more

I love visiting this store as it has a lot of unique gifts and items to peruse. I have a lot of good memories shopping here during Christmas time and I really miss their old building which had so much more character. The clerks here are hit and miss though hence the missing star. They rarely engage with the customers and some of them are not the friendliest. All in all though, a lovely store! read more

I went to David and Brian's on Saturday and bought a Christmas gift which I had wrapped. When I return to the store to pick up my wrapped package they asked me to pay them $.10 for the bag to put my wrapped gift in. Guess I won't be going back to that store! read more

Nice place with some interesting things for sell but not at all a store for a broke, non-fancy joke like me.

I enjoyed this store several times and spent quite a bit here until I had to make a return and then it became very unpleasant. The staff was very rude and un-accommodating. Staff is very lacking in customer service and satisfaction. Do not feel as though I will return. read more

After all the "bad customer service" reviews I was a little nervous about going to this store, but they had the exact retirement gift I wanted for a buddy of mine -- a model B-17 WWII bomber. Happy to report that my experience was very pleasant. The sales lady brought up the model from the store room and opened it without my asking. When it turned out not to be the version I wanted she returned to the store room to look again without complaint, and assured me that if all else failed, she'd box up the display model and sell me that! She returned with the correct model, cheerful in spite of two trips to the basement. Don't doubt others had bad experiences, but my encounter was nothing but positive. read more

I have been to this store in Danville twice. Both times the place was deserted except for salespeople who were completely oblivious to the fact that a potential customer just walked in. No eye contact no greeting no form of acknowledgment. The staff were busy having conversations and not interested in providing service or selling. If anyone from this store reads reviews; you all are in need of customer service training and a complete attitude adjustment. Try to at least pretend like you are welcoming to customers and may be they'll be inclined to spend in your store. Reason for even the one star is Yelp website. read more

Everytime walk-in to this nice shop is always very enjoyable. They have many nice things priced reasonable. Sales person are helpful but never hard sell. It is more old school store but with good collections and variety of choices. I like their decorations and kitchen departments. It is more slow paced but when I am really shopping what is the reason to rush?! They do have free gift wraps which is not that usual this days. I take my mother there she also enjoyed this and the Danville store. I often found good stuffs without crazy marks up. I don't know what is some people saying but if u try to search around there are plenty of places and web sites selling same or similar things for higher prices. A lot of fun and classy things in here. Really likes this store. I always found some nice gifts in here. read more

THE most random amalgamation of STUFF that I've ever come across in one big room. Walking canes. a wall full of every size and shape of Nutcracker imaginable, all sorts of crystal and porcelain, a stationary section in the back, Cal athletic gear, holiday decorations galore, a section devoted to model airplanes (my friend was eyeing the Concorde, supersonic, that kicks ass! for a couple hundred bucks). And that's just the first floor! They had a downstairs that we would've ventured down into, but we were on a quest for yogurt. Random. read more

Cool knick knacks to play with and a lot of things to look at for sure. They even have a bottom floor which is led down to by a thing of stairs on your right as you enter. They even had some stuffed animals hidden away and puzzles galore. My mom would probably be in here for a good couple or hours for sure. read more

I consistently shop at DMB and find their prices are a good 10% lower than the other kitchen stores in the area. I recently was pricing an All Clad 10" sauté pan and it was $10 cheaper there than across the street in Walnut Creek! Their things are almost always good (or great) quality, friendly service, and better prices. It's my "go to store" when I'm in the market for a kitchen item. Yeah for them!! My friend and I just returned from David M Brian and I can honestly say that it was probably the worst shopping experience I have ever had. I purchased some Pandora jewelry there last Friday, and wanted to take advantage of their promotion where you got a free bracelet for each $100 that you spent. Since I was going to be purchasing over $200 worth of merchandise, my friend said she would buy $100 for me so we could get another free bracelet. We were told in no uncertain terms by Erlinda (I believe that's her name) that since my friend had received her free bracelet yesterday (she had also purchased $100 worth of goods there the day before) that she was not entitled to another one and that it would be "cheating", even though she was going to spend another $100. My friend said that it shouldn't matter and that if she went somewhere else she would be able to get the free bracelet. So Erlinda said to us "Then why don't you just buy it somewhere else then?" Well I ended up buying my jewelry and only getting one free bracelet, but over the weekend we both felt we had been treated very poorly and decided to return most of the items. Once again we were served by Erlinda, who made us feel like it was a huge inconvenience for her to assist us. She even said to us that if we can live with ourselves being cheaters then go ahead. So here's what prompted me to write this review. I am normally extremely mild mannered, and would even have let this incident go without a second thought, but as were walking out I heard Erlinda banging things on the counter and saying "cheater, cheater, cheater". I was absolutely shocked that an employee would treat a customer this way. I have shopped there many times, but this is the last time I will ever set foot in the place again. read more

I used to love this store because it has an old time, family feel and I like the merchandise. I am writing today because I had a horrendous customer service experience with the telephone operator who was just taking a message. He had such a negative, and rude attitude, that it can only make me think that the store's management and culture are not good. Anyone this rude has got to be unhappy. I see from other comments on YELP that employees are grumpy and rude. It has to come from the top. Why shop here when I can patron Nordstrom - where happy, helpful and positive are the required norm? read more

This place is a joke. I received a wedding gift from a family friend. When I went to return/exhange the platter I was sent all over the store as no one knew which department the platter came from. Finally, I was told they had no idea what the price of the platter was and they would have to take my information and get back to me. They also tried to accuse me of chipping the platter. They claimed they would have never let it out of the store with a chip of paint missing on the side. I have never even completely taken in out of the stupid bubble wrap they packed it in. When I did hear back from them they practically stalked me. They called after 10 pm and called about 5 times the next day. When I called back the manager wasn't there and nobody knew what I was talking about. I finally got a credit of $38. Not sure I even want to go back to spend the credit. Who knows what my experience will be like trying to redeem this store credit! read more

I was drawn into the store by the sign for holiday lane and the thought that there might be some good after Christmas deals. What I found were some items at 40% off, but since the original prices were all on the high side the sale prices weren't actually a deal. It's a nice store to explore and there are unique items, but the prices are high. read more

Excellent service at David M. Brian's got me through the process of creating a rehearsal dinner invitation. I must compliment the staff. I used to love this store because I could find some unique, beautiful items. However, in the last two years the staff have become oblivious to customers and are down right rude. My Parents purchased in July 2012 a "Pandora Safety Chain" to give to me on my Birthday in September 2012. When I opened the box I noticed that the chain was broken...I know I was shocked too! My Husband and I took the chain back to the store and asked if we can replace it or have it fixed. The rude Manager literally told us, "IMPOSSIBLE!", but she would call the company and call me back. I felt like she thought I was a liar and I left feeling so bad I cried. She called me back a couple days later and said, "We can't do anything for you". I will never go back there again and neither will my parents. Word to the wise don't buy any Pandora from this store. Thank you. read more

My family spends a lot of money on gifts on this store, but not any more. They won't give you boxes for the items you just bought.
