This review is about Diane Ramirez aka The Hair Angel That Makes My Hair Dreams Come True. I started seeing Diane over a year ago for haircuts. She is hands down the best person I've ever seen for haircuts. I normally get a soft, layered long haircut with bangs and every time I get it cut, I get asked, "Who cuts your hair?", "Who cuts your bangs?." And I then get to rave about Diane. I think it's telling that a lot of hairstylists go to Diane for cuts! I was a color phobe my entire life. Diane was so patient with all my questions, never pressured me and let me decide in my own good time. She assured me we could go through a process of lightening up my hair and still have it be manageable in terms of maintenance. I don't like to be overly fussy with my hair or to look over-done, and convinced myself all these years that coloring would ruin all that. I was so wrong!! Diane took my natural, dark long Asian hair and did a caramel balayage, which I loved. I got a lot of compliments....including my Mom, who's tough to please with hair. Sabrina does wonders! Not only does she make you feel and look beautiful, but also her extremely down to earth and chill vibes really made the experience so much better! I found Sabrina after reading tons of Yelp reviews.  I was excited that it seemed that Sabrina worked on a lot of people with hair similar to mine (long and wavy).  You can read the details below but I highly recommend Sabrina!  She is extremely knowledgeable and I love her energy.  I felt like a friend was cutting my hair! I had not cut my hair since Oct 2019 when I made an appointment with Sabina in July 2021.  It was a weighty mess and I wanted to chop it off.  I wanted lots of movement and I wanted to play up my hair's natural wave pattern.  I also wanted something fairly easy to maintain.  I got the sense that Sabrina completely understood what I had in mind and that we were on the same page.  After discussing my thoughts, Sabrina asked if I had any inspo photos.  Having always played it safe when it came to my hair, I pulled up a Pinterest page full of wavy lobs.  Sabrina took one look and I could tell she was clearly disappointed.  Yikes (don't worry, there's a happy ending). Sabrina explained that she wanted to give my hair shape and that she also thought it made sense to work with my hair's natural growth patterns.  She said the word "shag" at one point and I nearly had a panic attack.  When she said "center part," I almost blacked out. Sabrina thoughtfully explained why she thought those styles would work for me, discussing my hair texture and face shape.  I was quite hesitant about the center part but she gently made the case for it and convinced me to do it, as well as the shag.  Sabrina gained my trust because of how knowledgeable she was and I also liked that she wasn't shy about letting me know what she thought would work on my hair.  I got the sense though that had I really pushed for a particular style, she would have listened to me.  However, I went to the appointment hoping for guidance and expertise, open to suggestions, and that was exactly what I got from Sabrina. Re: the center part: As Sabrina was cutting my hair, my hair kept naturally falling to the side (it was resisting the center part).  As a result, Sabrina ended up cutting the front in such a way that it could be styled either and still look good. It's been almost two weeks since my hair cut and I have received tons of compliments and even gave Sabrina's contact info out a couple of times! read more
