Brian is *really* thorough and attentive to detail. I'm (very) particular about my hair, and he did an excellent job. The cut is easy to style, has grown out beautifully, and still looks great weeks later. This hair salon doesn't care about professionalism at all. I went with a beautiful long hair and "Kevin Carter" chopped it, because it's far from being a hair cut. I also requested for all over color and not even that he was able to do, I ended with two different color tones in my hair. As if this wasn't enough, when I politely tried to explain him my dissatisfaction, he abruptly interrupted me in a very rude and inappropriate tone yelling "I'M NOT FINISHED YET!". After that, I decided to leave because I was afraid he continued with the mistreatment and lack of respect towards myself, I told him that I was leaving because I didn't want to be rude, to which he responded in a very mockery and childish way by saying "Ok, thanks!" This post is long overdue. I've been coming to Ona for the last few years. She really prioritizes nourishing your hair. Each time I see her my hair looks and feels healthy, shiny and flawless. I leave feeling refreshed, like I just hung out with an old friend. The service is nothing short of AMAZING! I typically get a relaxer touch up, which is notorious for drying out your hair. But Ona takes the extra step to ensure that doesn't happen. I also notice the staff is very welcoming and courteous when greeting new clients. I'd recommend this salon to anyone. read more

This review is for Phoebe Seligman. I absolutely adore Phoebe. Every time I see her, I walk away feeling like my best self. She has a keen understanding of how to work with my hair and each each time the cut and color turns out better than I could have expected. She listens to exactly what I want and make suggestions as needed, and totally respects my wishes while working with me in a way that makes me feel like we're an awesome team. This review is for Lori M when she did my 4 hour ash balayage - 5-9 pm. Lori is a very sweet and nice lady who has been in the business for years. Unfortunately, the receptionist had misquoted her balayage prices to me at starting at $160+ but Loris actual prices are like $225+ or something like that. TLDR: Lori is a great stylist but I ultimately was not happy with spending an unexpected $400 + tip - she was unwilling to fix the color (see below) without an additional fee. I declined because I had already spent so much money. She was kind to change her mind and refund me a lot of money the next day. It is a beautiful salon but I didn't feel like the price was reasonable because my previous balayages + cut were never more than $300 and this $400 sum didn't even include a cut. I asked for an ash blonde balayage. I am fully aware that my hair would never look exactly like the pictures and might require another session because my hair is naturally dark and very colored already but I've had balayages before that were able to get my hair pretty light in one sitting. If you look at the pictures, my hair isn't even close to an ash blonde - it was a light brown with random streaks of green gray blonde in spots that has since turned brassy even with good care. I think that she didn't bleach my hair enough or long enough because the back is totally dark and a completely different color. Now my hair is like 5 very different shades (pic). Ultimately I was turned off by the fact that she wouldn't fix my hair without me spending more money even though I had already paid a large sum. She said that she shouldn't have to pay for the receptionist's mistake with the prices... Which er I guess that means I had to pay for it. In the end, I really think she does care about her clients because she called and wanted to partially refund me. My suggestion is that you discuss and agree to a general price up front before work is done. I also think another stylist might be more willing to spend additional time/effort on making your hair look more uniform and how you like it before you leave the studio. read more

ONA cut off the breakage and dry ends of my hair and now it feels so full and healthy! I color my hair often so I always need a trim. She gave me some awesome tips about maintaining my hair! I came here on a groupon for Ona Watley. When I arrived, she was extremely friendly and cheerful, and she had an awesome style of chit-chat. She made me think she might be a great singer; her voice is so melodious. As for the cut itself- it went well, nothing dramatic. I wanted 2 inches off my long hair. To be honest the cut was not "layered" the way I've had it done before. I think it may be that I have very coarse hair that does not easily bend - so after the cut, much of the bottom length was really "straight", when I was hoping for layered waves (Not sure what the haircut lingo is). That easily may have been due to my vague instructions, since I can see the rest of her reviews on this yelp page seem pretty good. On the plus side, the styling she does at the end of the cut is AMAZING. If I had known, I would have scheduled my cut right before a special weekend/event. read more

Ona reached out to me in regards to my haircut. I still feel my rating and review still stands. I realized that I didn't mention in the review that I am partly responsible in that I wasn't able to clearly express my dissatisfaction. I usually have a high level of trust to stylist at high-end salons but that is no excuse to not stop the poor haircut as it happens. I've been too comfortable at hair salons for too long and forgot an important haircut 101: Always voice your options to the stylist. At the time I was only dissatisfied with the fringe and and was more concerned about that. I did asked her to "blend" it more. She only cut more and more hair around my face and I knew then that she would not be able to fix it. I wasn't aware of how bad the back of my head looked until I got home and when the another stylist the next day showed me. Regardless, the back of my head should not have a random sizeable piece 5 inches (!!) shorter then the rest of my hair. The fringe should blend in and flow with the rest of my hair and not have an upside down v to it. And there's absolutely no volume to it now. I truly felt it looked worst then before I walked into the salon that day. read more
