I came here a handful of time and tried a couple of girls over a span of a couple of years. They were both very sweet and gave good service. My reasoning for giving 2 stars is because of what happened on 2 separate occasions. I came in to get my roots redone and I always discuss pricing before we start to avoid what eventually happened. When I was rang up, I was charged an extra $30 without being consulted. The girls who did my hair both seemed uncomfortable to tell me I was being over charged what I was quoted and apologized. I was obviously annoyed and said that price was never discussed or consulted with me before. They gave some reason about needing more hair dye? I thought it was bullshit and it seemed like someone else, maybe the owner, was adding it on without their knowledge and had to deal with the issue of telling a customer on the spot. The whole situation felt off. It's not about the money, I can afford an extra $30. It's about the principle of transparency and professionalism which I think wasn't shown on these 2 occasions. Unfortunately I won't be coming back to this salon which is disappointing because I really liked both girls who did my hair but my experience in the last couple of years tells me this place adds on extra charges, without your knowledge and I can't trust a salon that doesn't lead with transparency or professionalism. read more

Juvy is one of the best hair stylists I have ever had! She knows exactly how to do my highlights and color to transition into every season AND I always feel amazing walking out of the salon. My personal preference with hair stylists and other similar professionals is that I show up, say what I want, and then let them take the reigns and trust in their work. That is exactly what I get with Juvy and Arrow Salon. The salon itself is cute, intimate, and nice and bright with gorgeous windows facing the street. Grace was incredibly kind and compassionate; I even found myself crying as I shared my story with her. Her warmth and understanding made a difficult moment just a little brighter. And the haircut! Grace is truly a master of her craft. At the funeral, three different people approached me to compliment my hair--testament to her extraordinary skill! I have been seeing Juvy for about a year and received good haircuts. At my prev cut I inquired about blending my dark, natural roots into my platinum/light blonde color so it can grow out seamlessly. Juvy said she can do that and suggested balayage hi/lo lights. Despite discussing my wishes for color clearly and showing pictures, what I received was an all-over, medium blond/light brown color that looks odd and was nothing even close to what we discussed - for a whopping $389. There was no explanation what happened. Had I wanted an all-over plain color, I could've done that for $10 myself. I am honestly in tears the way my hair looks (color & cut). While the cut looked ok in the salon the way it was blow dried, at home ... at home it wasn't manageable, odd layers, even odder bangs and overall cut too short. And yes, I wasn't happy while in the salon ... but I calmed myself by saying "they offered a re-do". But honestly, I'm not sure my hair will have recovered enough to be exposed to more bleaching & processing - let alone, that I have no natural roots left to blend with (plus, my blond color is gone now, too). I am so disappointed, especially for that $$$$ price tag. My thinking was to have professionals do the color blend work and do it right but then to walk away with over-processed hair, a color I didn't ask for, alll over color and my light blond and highlights, gone. I emailed the salon but no response ... which in addition is frustrating & so disappointing! Doesn't seem they care about the quality of work nor their customer satisfaction! read more

Grace has been cutting my hair for a few years since I realized my previous stylist just didn't quite know what to do to make my curls thrive. Not only does Grace execute my vision each time, she is a great collaborator when I'm not totally sure what I want or know it'll take a couple cuts/time to grow out to achieve my desired outcome. After some research on Instagram and a leap of faith I decided to book Alexis as my stylist (I am extremely picky about my hair). I'll start by saying Alexis was so amazing. She was very communicative throughout the process and always asked me if what she was doing was okay for me, for example, putting products in my hair. This is one of my favorite hair salons I've been to in SF. Mostly because of my hair stylist Jeremy, who was so awesome. He understood exactly what I wanted and did so in the best way. We had such nice conversations while he cut my hair and best part was how he blow dried and styled my hair at the end. I have really thin fragile hair so I don't like it when hair stylists overly use hair products and excessively brow dries my hair after a cut. Jeremy styled my hair with the Dyson hair wrap/dryer in the most gently, natural yet stylish way possible. He didn't use any harsh products or chemicals at all. In the end my hair looked so beautiful and natural and I truly felt like a beautiful person - which I really needed to feel that day. I also loved the salon's interior, as it felt very cozy, warm with wooden touches that maintain the house's design and structure. Didn't feel commercial but rather so intimidate in the best way. I think this might be my go-to hair salon from now on in SF. read more

Amazing first experience at this salon! I had a keratin treatment done on my damaged, brittle hair by stylist Grace. Let me tell you... not only is my hair thick, it's also LONG--almost mid-back--and I watched her do each and every section with the utmost care. The whole process took 2.5 hours, and she perfected it down to the very last piece to make sure I got great results. I'm so appreciative of her attention to detail; my hair went from feeling like hay to smooth and sleek. Will update this review in a couple months with my hair results! Don't get a haircut with a junior hairdressers!! Only when I got home I realized how bad the haircut I got is! The hairdresser did the exact opposite of what I've asked for! I had long hair and asked to cut it to shoulder length or a bit longer- My hair now is not even close to touching my shoulder and is much shorter (even when it's wet). I've asked for longer hair on the back and gradually shorter on the front- My hair now is super short on the back and longer on the front. The new cut just looks ridiculous and I don't know what to do. I'll need to wait a few months until it grows and then go to a REAL professional hairdresser to get it fixed. They should really warn people that their junior hairdressers just don't know what they are doing!! I feel bad naming the girl who gave me the cut... The only reason I'm giving 2 stars and not 1 is because the staff was nice. read more

I've had some amazing conversations, we were coming up with novel zombie apocalypse storylines. She's very skilled at knowing what frames your face, how to take care of your hair, and translating what you're looking for into actual hair style. Feeling like I finally found my SF hair salon for both cut and color! I have curly hair and went to Patty for a cut. She did a fabulous job working with my curls and was able to bring back shape without loosing a lot of length. Not long ago, I went to see Patty and Arlene to fix a not so great color job (from another salon) that damaged my hair. I had a big event coming the next week and was anxious to get my hair fixed and repaired. Both Patty and Arlene were reassuring and listened to my concerns. They came up with a game plan on how to fix my hair and I met with Arlene a few days later. Arlene not only fixed my color but transformed it! The color is even BETTER than I could have imagined. Even more, she did an Olaplex treatment that brought my curls back to life. I really appreciated how she explained what she was doing every step of the way. I fully trusted Arlene and Patty with my hair - and I'm so thankful for their work. The salon itself has a great location - very close to Bart. The inside is clean, cozy, and welcoming.
