Angelina (Lola) knows her stuff. Not only does she know her products and hair chemistry (is that a thing?) she is very talented with her technique. And I always leave happy! I go to her for color and bayalage. I usually say what I'm thinking and she consults with me and shows me pictures (yes!!) and we come up with a plan. I like that she has a vision and ideas of her own and explains what tones go with my skin, etc... I don't like when the hair stylist hands me a color book and tells me to pick. I get nervous when I pick my nail color!! The treatment usually comes with a haircut and a blow-dry style. I almost feel guilty not going out because I'm so dolled up! I had my hair balayaged and toned by Tess. First, the salon is adorable, clean, and absolutely cozy. I could sit in there all day. Second, the service is just THE best. Tess was very accommodating, started me off with some yummy tea, and made me feel right at home. Lastly, the quality of Tess's work is incredible. She's very attentive in listening to and understanding what you want, knows how it will work with your hair type, and delivers results beyond expectations. I came in with a grown out, botched blonde balayage from before seeing her (see pic). I wanted to go back to brunette but with a warm chocolate blended into a honey hazelnut. I don't know how I've never reviewed Lola before, probably because selfishly I don't want anyone else to know about how amazing she is ;) I am extremely picky with my hair, and for the past 2+ years she has not only listened to what I want but also talked me out of some awful life decisions. She's taken my hair from brunette to blonde and back again without damaging my hair. She gives her expertise opinion and never tries to up sell you on some treatment or more highlights, more often than not she actually tells me I need less done than what I even think is true. She is talented beyond belief and never fails to make me walk out of the salon with an enormous smile on my face. In a city full of salons I can't imagine a stylist that is better out there. Also, she is an amazing human being who I look forward to seeing every time I make an appointment! UPDATE: I've been going to Lola for over four years now. Recently I made the grim mistake of getting my hair done while I was home in NH, I asked for a brown color and was given her black hair, tears streaming down my face I called one of my friends to fix it, she did the best she could, but I walked away looking a little on the brassy side. When I got home to sf the first thing I did was book an appt with Lola. She not only fixed the dye job but gave me a balayage that is gorgeous, manageable, and makes me feel great about myself. I saw Angelina (Lola) last week for a dry cut, and I'd like to share the highlights of my experience. First, the salon is right at a stop for the N line, so it is very convenient. The salon is new, but I understand that the two stylists are quite experienced. Lola's experience shows in my cut, for which I have received many compliments. It's stylish enough to head out in the evening, but subdued enough to tone down for office environment. It's very hard to accomplish such versatility with a medium-length men's cut, but Lola does it superbly. I love the intimacy and ambiance of the salon - I've recently been to much busier, higher volume salons, and this is significantly more relaxing. It's nice to be greeted immediately by your stylist upon walking in, and not to have to wait like a patient in a doctor's office. Dolled and Dapper excels here. Lola is great! Maintaining my auburn mane is very important to me and I have been to several high end and high volume salons with mixed results. As a redhead when you try to brighten your color many times it ends up looking not quite right (too pink/violet) or muddy (too brown). On top of that my color holds differently in different parts of my hair, so yes I'm picky and complicated, and the color is difficult. Lola listens, is non-judgmental and her experience speaks for itself when I walk away with amazing color. I'm not afraid to tell her something isn't quite right or to change it up a little because she genuinely wants you to be happy and not simply move on to the next paying customer. Awesome little salon in the Lower Haight, with cute ambience and that mom-and-pop feel, although the owners are not moms and pops! Angelina is not only pleasant and adorable, she is a hair fairy-godmother. She gave me the exact cut and color that I wanted. I visited dolled an dapper salon on 10/12/13 and saw stylist Lola. She was very accommodating and knew exactly what I wanted. The color she did was excellent and the cut was great for my round face. I will be visiting this salon again. The salon itself was cute, quaint and clean. You would have never known it was brand new because the character had a very homely feeling. First and Foremost the salon in itself is so cute and the name is brilliant. Very welcoming for both ladies and gents! I'll start by saying my hair is a nightmare. It is curly, thick, frizzy and completely unmanageable. I knew I needed to do something because having an infant no longer allows for an hour of hair prep only to have mediocre results. Enter the awesome Angelina (Ang)!! I was really apprehensive about getting a Brazilian blowout because I didn't want flat, straight hair. Ang reassured me that I was the perfect candidate and answered all of my questions all the while completely easing my mind. It's worth noting that Ang is also beyond gorgeous and I trust style/beauty advice coming from good looking people. Just saying. ;) Once we were done with the process I was floored. I had what appeared to be naturally wavy hair that was soft, shiny and easily straightened. (a bold face lie!) My only regret was not doing this sooner. I got my first haircut with Ginger back in August 2018. It was a great cut and I was pleased. Sadly, on recommendation from a friend, I went elsewhere in January for a haircut and it did not turn out well. I have long, wavy/curly hair and the woman sliced it with a straight razor and gave me very heavy bangs. It looked stringy, choppy, and way too big. I looked like an extra in a Whitesnake video. So, with tail between my legs, I made an appointment with Ginger and she fixed it all! She really took her time, listened to my concerns, and patiently adjusted the cut. Without losing too much length, she fixed the shape and blended the bangs so it looks like a cohesive and modern haircut. She also made product recommendations but wasn't pushy at all. I had to ask her if she thought I should purchase a product and she said I could continue using what I had at home. I ended up buying what she recommended and it's working out great. No longer do I look like I should be writhing on the hood of a car while David Coverdale wails in the background. Thank you, Ginger! I won't stray again - lesson learned. read more

I love this place. First of all the salon is gorgeous. The window dressing is beautiful. I had my appointment on the same day as their official opening and the ladies were getting the place ready for the opening party that evening. I still received 100% attention. I had my hair cut short at a different salon almost 3 years ago and I've been having a problem growing it out and keeping some style in it. It's finally long enough now so I came to dolled and dapper to have it reinvented. Fionnuala was my stylist. She is fantastic!! I hardly had to describe what I wanted when she started basically reading my mind. She spoke to me first and made sure we were both on the same page about what exactly I wanted. She listened to me and I didn't feel rushed. I had a lovely relaxing head massage to start and then she got to work!! The result is fabulous! I've got a proper hair style once again. Lovely layers, nice amount of volume and a side swept bangs, which. Fionnuala also gave me tips on how to blow dry my hair, and bangs to make it sit properly. And they really work. I had my hair cut a few weeks ago and I still love it!! It's easy to mange and it really looks great when I style it myself.
