She allowed me to have a "pre-visit" to chat about what I was looking for in a haircut.d The last 3 times at others salons were complete disasters. Upon our pre-visit, I was immediately put at ease. Sammy is the best in town! Please don't take my favorite time slot every month after reading this review. :) I have been going to B Parlor since 2022 after my hair stylist left town. B Parlor was recommended to me because they use Wella products! I particularly use their temporary color to cover my roots every 5 weeks. I have long hair that often grows down to my thighs. I cut about 6-8 inches every 8 months or so. And, the temporary color makes my hair look more natural because it fades slowly over time. My natural hair color was always much lighter at the bottom (from probably sun and hair dryer "damage") than my hair at the top of my head. And, the temporary touchup of my roots every 5 weeks keeps my hair healthy. Sammy knows a great deal about hair health and she will tell you if she thinks you need improvement and then how you can improve the health of your hair. She is very honest and diplomatic. She has a loyal customer base, so it's not easy to get in to see her, so I would suggest booking at least 6 weeks in advance if you are looking to color your roots. She's loved not only because of her skill set, but because she is a fun person to talk to. And, she has so many fun stories about her huge, sweet family too! Did I say she is the best in town? My review is based solely on the cancellation policy, I was really debating on reviewing this salon, but I decided to move forward with it, my first time here I went in For a haircut my appointment was with Catie, I got s call to come in early since she would be available earlier then scheduled so I did, well I sat on chair for 15 to 20 minutes waiting for her to be done with her other client, she never came to apologize or even acknowledge me, what was the point of asking me to come in early if I was still going to wait, so I let it slide, still made another appointment to get color, since the wedding was far ahead I scheduled it with plenty of time, they scheduled me with Claudia, well the day of the appointment came and I get a text the Claudia was out sick and I had to be rescheduled, she asked what would work for me and I advised next Saturday please because June 4th was the wedding day, she asked if a Sunday would be ok I said yes that would be just fine, well an hour later she text me back sorry I only have June 4th available smh !!but that's the wedding day!! Her response was that's all I have, I couldn't believe it, booked 3 months ahead and she couldn't reschedule me 2 weeks out just the day of the wedding, I understand you can't avoid someone being sick, but you have to have plan B !! Their policy is 48 hours cancellation policy, why don't we get the same !? They even have a late/tardy why don't we get the same !? She said she let the owner know, yet I have not heard back from them, they seemed to have enough clients that one don't matter, well safe to say I will not be returning, so dissatisfied customer! My first visit to B Parlor was several weeks ago, so this review is tardy. But let me start by saying that, at this very second, I am as ecstatic about my hair now as when I left the salon last month. After an underwhelming visit to another place, to rehabilitate the overgrown, brassy mop on my head (my excellent longtime stylist had retired right before the pandemic), I got a friend's recommendation for B Parlor. Everyone there was so accommodating about the fact I live in Sonoma, and had to take a day off to come in. Filomena was able to assess my old style (which I was defaulting to), and steered me toward an update. Day of the appointment, she had a game plan, pictures, explanations for her ideas, and did an altogether fantastic transformation. The color, cut were perfect. (This also took awhile, given the state of things.) I think I basically laughed with happiness when she held up the mirror. Filomena had the expertise and intuition to revamp my hair in a way that was subtle but new. I could never have articulated how to ask for it, even if I'd known what I wanted. Love this salon and my stylist Sammy here! When I moved to SF, I was disheartened (but not surprised) to find it difficult to find a reasonably priced salon. After one mishap in the Castro, I stumbled upon B Parlor whose prices are VERY fair for any wash and cut (starts at $60), but practically unheard of in SF. The salon is also beautiful, staff friendly, and you're always offered a drink upon arrival. I would highly recommend Sammy! I have very thick, straight hair, and someone has to know how to cut and style well for it to look good. Sammy is not only skilled at this, but she always offers great perspective and pulls me back from the edge when I'm craving changes that won't necessarily work for the look I want. (I.e. Cutting length off while still making it look "long" was my last request.) I've been to her about 3-4 times, and every time, she takes the time to listen to what I want and offer her expert advice. I've learned to trust her after making my wants clear because I always leave with a better cut than the time before. She's also super sweet and lovely to talk to. I have been coming to B Parlor for years now. I followed my stylist Sammy here from another salon and it is such a great place. People are friendly and there is great energy and it is a huge space which is so nice. They also have some really cool old hair styling memorabilia from years past. Now onto Sammy my amazing stylist. While I have been going to Sammy for years, it is like a new experience each time. Sammy is friendly and we have great conversations but Sammy never gets too comfortable to where she is inconsistent. What do I mean? Many moons ago before Sammy, I had a stylist who was good but after a while, she stopped asking how my hair was and what I wanted done at each visit. Then there is Sammy. While my hair is not difficult, Sammy asks me each and every time, how I am feeling about my hair and do I have any concerns. Do we want to do anything different today she will ask and I appreciate that. My sister has also gone to see Sammy to get some "help" with her hair as she had wanted to fix her color and also damage that was caused. She came out looking awesome. But I also used to pay $25 for a haircut from Supercuts because in my 26 years I haven't found a difference between paying for an expensive cut vs. paying the minimum - I have long curly hair in good condition that's pretty forgiving. That is, until one particular hair horror at aforementioned budget salon that had me needing to get it fixed. B Parlor was just down the road and, for SF, reasonably priced. I'd chosen a stylist (Michelle) based on her Insta, which had a few nice curly cuts. I came away with honestly the most gorgeous haircut of my life. I didn't even know I could get a cut that would make all my curls bounce up the way they do now. Michelle listened to what I was looking for, knew how to make it happen, and did an astonishingly good job. It's been 2 months and it still looks great, I can't wait to go back and get a refresher. The place is a very relaxed, open space, she was telling me they treat their employees really well, the price was decent - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, and particularly Michelle. read more

Janine is great! Ever since my hair stylist left her salon I couldn't follow her to the new one she went to so I had to find a new place in the city to get my cuts. The place is super easy to get to via the N, 6, or 7. All drop you about a block away from the place. You definitely have to make an appt ahead of time via their website. Not sure if they do walk ins but I always have to make mine at least a month in advance. If you are going to cancel your appt be sure to do so at least 24 hrs in advance or they charge you. The place also has nail polish testers on the side so if you're early you can pass the time doing your nails. Now on to Janine.. I came here to get a normal trim/relayering ($65) but I randomly decided to get bangs during this visit as well. Janine was super comforting on letting me know her thoughts on how the bangs would work, etc since I haven't gotten them in over 2 years. Every step of the way she made sure I was fine with the length and how she was thinning out my hair. She's also awesome to talk to! She even informed me that since I got bangs hey offered 2 free trims in between haircuts. Always come out of this place loving my cut and not hating it the very next day. Haha read more

One word - AMAZING!!! If you need a stylist who can definitely work with bright and bold colors while keeping things safe and subtle, I would highly recommend Catie! I came in for a consultation a week before my appointment, since it was my first time having my hair colored and was pleasantly surprised with her professionalism and suggestions on what would be the best hair color service for my hair. Was booked for 8 hours, but Catie did an extra 2 hours after closing to ensure that my hair would not only look great, but also smell great! Had an LA trip the next day and got sooooo many compliments!!! It's been 3 days since my appointment and my hair still looks and smells amazing! A bit on the pricier end, but considering I had hundreds of foils in my hair for 6 hours, and 2 hours of washing, conditioning, and dyeing bleached virgin hair, I can say for certain that you're getting your money's worth! Sammy gave me a great haircut and was very nice. Covid protocols were good. Products used on my hair were excellent. Didn't have to wait. Salon is clean and utilitarian which I like. Nice massage of scalp during shampoo and afterwards too. Took an hour, but was having nice conversation so it didn't feel too long. And the massage was very relaxing. I usually prefer the faster the better and I usually hate people messing with my hair. But I didn't mind the time at all. I think I might have been her last customer and I was chatting and gabbing away. I am very happy with my cut. It is hard to find good hair cutters. My hair is short and I like a razor cut. 5 stars for Heather!! I've floated from salon to salon the past 8 years and then I found Heather at Wak Shack early last year. It was completely accidental, I needed a haircut, called around to see who had an opening and alas Wak Shack got me in! Again another great business establishment in the neighborhood. Heather does an excellent job not only on hair but also on color. I'm pretty easy going with my hair but usually never wowed-this time, I was Wa-hoo!! I have seen her ever since! I have a ton of hair and it can take up to 4 hours to cut and color but she never seems annoyed and always finishes the job with perfection. Don't feel overwhelmed by the stylists haircuts, they're like Carson Kressley, even though their personal style can be out there they know how to do some really awesome conservative hair as well. They really are a family, consulting with each other about cut or color to give you the best look and style for your face! This post is long over due for EMILY! So I've been coming to Emily for just about two and half years. First I started off with very mistreated hair (my own fault), box color and bad hair cuts. I'm naturally a blonde with baby fine hair an had been doing home dyes of red forever. We slowly started the process of getting back to blonde and trying to save as much of my mid back length hair. It took awhile (a year) to get there but she safely got my hair to a beautiful blonde color. Every time I left the shop in that year it was always great and always a wearable color. After all that I decided I wanted a chin length bob to cut off all the colored ends and just be my natural color . Loved it! But truly wanted to have long hair and decided to grow it out. My hair grows super slow and it took me about a year and a couple months to get it a couple inches below my shoulders. My hair had never looked so healthy! It felt fuller than it ever had, had shine and movement to it. **This is long but this is where it gets good! So the last couple weeks before coming to see her again I realized even though my hair had never looked so healthy it still was never going to be as full as I'd want it to look (Naturally thin) and the longer it got it just felt flat and I was hopeless an styling it. I decide to go for an Jennifer Laurence short cut ( nervous as hell!) EMILY GAVE ME THE BEST HAIR CUT OF MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!! It is B. E. A. U. T. I. F. U.
